Sarah Meigs has been defending my sons and I for 3 years seemingly non stop over multiple cases, depositions, and trials. Answered now 1000s of questions, gotten my children back in the state, returns emails, and treats me with the upmost respect. She is not only a fantastic lawyer, but great council as well. I will not hesitate to lean on her expertise, grace, and experience in the future to defend my son’s rights for access to their father. I owe her and the rest of the staff at Amy Slayden Law a great debt of gratitude for my wonderful life with my sons while defending my peace with them over and over from constant litigation from multiple much more costly lawyers. She truly is a great human first and a respectful lawyer second. No games, no nonsense, and doesn’t believe she has to be hostile and disrespectful to be a great lawyer. Truly a credit to her profession.

Big mistake hiring this law firm. My case was stretched out for a very long time, a lot longer than it should have. Ended up with a horrible settlement after being assured that wouldn’t happen and paying a huge amount of money. This firm only cares about how much they can bill you for, not in trying to help their clients.

I obtained and required the services of Amy A. Slayden Family Law over the past 2 years, specific to a divorce. I interacted with everyone in the office at one point during this process and have a single phrase for the team: top-notch professionals! Regret hiring this law firm. Do not recommend for military members or veterans. I’m a little late writing this review but feel people should be aware. I don’t know who they have writing these reviews, but if you speak to people in the community you will get different opinions. My advice would be hire someone else, you’ll get the same results and most likely save yourself quite a bit of money.

I have hired five attorneys in two different states so I believe I have a general idea as to how a good attorney conducts business, specifically, my business and personal affairs when it comes to family law. Amy has 40 years worth of experience here in Madison County but where I was able to see those years of experience and skill was in her court filings and in the courtroom. Not only is she well versed in court procedure and case law, she pays attention to detail and I was often surprised that she did in fact know my case and was expertly able to weed out the unnecessary and get down to what really matters. Amy and her team, including Sarah Meigs, focus on outcomes versus billable hours. If your case can settle or you are looking for a quick uncontested resolution to your matter, they will help you achieve a satisfactory resolution to your case but if you have no choice but to go to trial, this is who you want on your side. They will give it to you straight and clear which is what I believe is needed during what can be an emotional time for many. If you are looking for someone to hold your hand and make you feel better, get a therapist or speak to a trusted friend. If you are looking for effective representation, hire Amy.

Amy Slayden showed integrity, professionalism and compassion during this difficult time. While all of Huntsville was shutdown for a whole week due to winter weather in January 2024, Amy found a way to get to the office and even came in on Sunday to get prepared. She poured her heart and soul into my case. Amy answered every email I sent her , never leaving me without an answer I needed. After witnessing her deposition skills, I can say with experience that in my opinion she is top of class in her field. I greatly appreciate Amy and her whole team for getting me a favorable outcome in my case. A few tips I'll provide. 1: Be honest, your attorney cannot help you if they do not know the truth. If you aren't honest with your attorney, how can they help you? The truth will ALWAYS come out. 2: Listen to your attorney, take notes and most importantly DO WHAT THEY SAY. Your attorney is the expert in the legal field, not you. You are paying them to provide a service, let them do there job. 3: It is up to you to help your own case. Take time to put your data together so your attorney can quickly go through it. In the long run this will save you money because they won't have to spend so much time sifting through things. You can help yourself greatly in this area. Rarely in my life have I felt compelled to put my stamp of approval on someone in a public forum. This most certainly is one of those times. $$$$ for a simple Will that required revisit to correct name spelling, & simple documents that never made it past a 1 time visit for a rough draft. The process dragged on at my expense. A retainer that continued to grow at my every inquiry. I finally gave up & they kept the retainer even though the work produced was only a 1 time visit rough draft.
