Barbara dragged my case out for way too long just so she could keep taking my money. After having her as my lawyer entire year we had not made any progress with my case. She has no sense of urgency and doesn’t truly care about her clients only about receiving her payments.

I used this attorney back in 2009. She charged me a $4,000 retainer. My ex and I were able to work a lot of stuff out on our own, she she ended up having to do very little work for me. Well, she made sure she kept her $4,000 by charging for every little thing. She also left some very important items out of the parenting agreement. She claims I told her to leave them out, but I did not. Any good lawyer would not have left them out. As another reviewer stated, she "nickeled and dimed". I feel that overcharged me for the work she did and that her work was inadequate.

This person failed to disclose her past with an incident at a jail. Charged me for 32,000 for discovery, found nothing or presented nothing to justify charges which were for demanding a mother in laws financial records, without disclosing it and then dumped my case. Run dont walk away from this attorney.

From the very start Barbara put my heart and mind at ease. She lead and guided me through the whole scary process of the legal system; the unknown of what could happened to a very valuable person in my life. Barbara kept me calm and focused. My emotions can easily take me over but with her by my side I felt empowered, well prepared and informed. Barbara was always on top of my case which made me feel like I was a priority! I highly recommend her for child custody and family law!

Barbara Fuqua did an excellent job in handling my divorce. She kept me informed and walked me through the process. She and her staff were responsive and professional.

I was reading the above reviews and I am confused. In the initial consultation with Barbara we went over her retainer agreement and what she charged per hour for her services. The fact that she allowed payments to be made tells me she has a heart and wanted to help you with your situation. However, you would not go to work if you were not getting paid for the work you produced. What some people forget is that attorneys have expenses for preparing for Trial which include paying for the staff for helping prepare the trial notebooks, the cost of the notes books and the hours of preparation that goes into preparing and knowing the facts of your case and research that helps argue your case. You agreed to the hourly rate, she was nice enough to allow you to make payments, however she is not Bank of America. When it comes to hiring an attorney, many people look for different things, you can hire someone that will get the job done and do a good job, but if you are looking for that attorney that goes the extra mile, the one that will dig their teeth into your case and grab hold of your ex and make them wonder, "what the heck just happened?", then Ms, Fuqua (Barbara) is the attorney you want!! She is a pit bull type of attorney that has a way of showing your ex who is in charge and hope to god she does not find out about all their secrets, but somehow she does. She has planned out all her cases step by step and knows what will work and how to get the results that you desire. Yeah you may get an attorney that cost less but she is so worth every penny you will spend. And believe me as soon as your to be ex's attorney hears that you have hired Barbara, their react will be "crap! they hired the best attorney they could get!!" Sometimes you get what you pay for, when it comes to an attorney, Barbara is the best!! And so worth every penny!!!

I hired Barbara to assist me with obtaining Grandparent visitation for my grandson. The instant I met Barbara, I knew that she was the right attorney for my case. She was very kind, caring and knowledgeable of grandparents rights, and she was very, very aggressive in her representation of my case. I felt comfortable, informed and well represented during this difficult time in my life. I would recommend Barbara to anyone going through a family law matter. With Barbara's professionalism, knowledge and passion for my case, I couldn't have been more pleased. She fought for me and what was right and she did it with grace, integrity and persistence. I hired Barbara to initiate child support payments and to modify my parenting time due to military relocation. She nickle and dimed me for every call and e-mail, though it usually took 3-4 e-mails to have my original questions answered. I was rarely able to deal with her and communicated through her assistant - and then was charged again for Barbara reading the e-mails. She charged a high retainer fee and though I was assured this was a simple case and the amount should be sufficient, I ended up paying a considerable amount more. I was given incorrect advice and am still dealing with issues that I specifically asked her to address and she never resolved. I would never recommend her to anyone for any situation.
