May 14 and May 24 I touched base with Kassidy S. and Brint H. of Hiatt Law. I was looking to learn what I needed for my video game project in terms of patents, trademarks, and copyrights. As developing games is new territory to me, I was greatly appreciative of the explanation and uses for each component that I had inquired about. I also appreciate that with all the information shared and presented to me, it was in no way framed as 'must-have' services. There was no sales pressure to lock-in commitments of any kind, and they took the time to answer all of my questions. They showed genuine interest in my game, and offered additional advice and supports that may be able to assist me as I continue my indie dev journey. Together, Kassidy and Brint changed my perspective on the legal system by showing me that a human connection remains just as important as a locked-in contract for services. Once I am closer to completing my project I will be returning for services as discussed.

You get what you pay for - In my case, I had a particularly unique LLC formation for my businesses. I knew that I needed to talk to a business lawyer to have all of my bases covered and my LLC's set up correctly starting out. I talked to Mr. Hiatt and it felt like I was his only client. He took a personal interest in my situation, asked questions, got the full picture and then recommended how to proceed and set everything up for me so that I could get on with my business. Yes, it will be a shot to the wallet to hire a lawyer to set up your LLC, but for people who want to get it done right the first time and have a lawyer who takes an interest in wanting you to succeed in your endeavors, I would absolutely recommend Hiatt Law. They not only set up my 2 LLC's, but provided me with boiler plate documents for contracts, employee documents, and NDA agreements that otherwise, I would need to draft myself. They not only set up my articles of Incorporation, but they also set me up for success right off the bat.
