Unscrupulous and predatory. If you call the number listed on their demand letter ("You may direct payment or communications regarding this matter......"), they WILL NOT take payment over the phone and they *WILL* charge you attorney fees for the phone call.

The staff never return my calls. I have been making monthly payments for the last 4 years for a ridiculous debt that went too high for their incompetence in solving my case. They are unprofessional and do not respond to any inquiries....I've never received a letter or receipt for my statements. Poor service.

I have received 3 notices from this firm where they are trying to collect HOA fees from my late fathers estate. The fees were all paid when I sold his house. Tried calling 3 times, no answer, and they wont return my messages. Oh well, I wasn't going to pay them anything, anyway.

They are attorneys for an HOA in Tempe and in my case didn't care to hold the HOA management company to follow the law when applying late fees and attorney's fees to my account. They attempted to unlawfully collect attorney's and late fees when their client didn't follow basic rules laid out in ARS 33-1242 which requires an HOA to notify a homeowner prior to applying a late fee, which their client did not do yet they attempted to still collect this from me. Furthermore, they didn't do even the simplest inquiry of their client to ensure they were following state laws yet still attempted to collect their attorney's fees from me when their client didn't follow AZ statues to provide a copy of the HOA's CC&Rs, bylaws, etc. within 10 days of the HOA receiving written notice of the pending property transfer. How is it that an HOA lawfirm/attorney who knows the laws governing HOAs, yet makes no attempt to follow those laws or find out if their client is following those laws BEFORE attempting to charge a homeowner with unlawful charges!!?? Unbelievable. Then when I brought this to the attorney's attention he lost patience and stated that he no longer wanted to deal with this and was very rude and acted very unprofessionally. Extremely unprofessional when things don't go their way! Be advised of their less than ethical legal practices! Educate yourself about HOA laws and don't assume this lawfirm will follow the laws even though they ought to be following the Attorney's Code of Ethics. They are with lazy in their practice of law or unethical....you decide.

People who takes advantage of innocent hard worker lady don't deserve not even one star. They answer call just when they want, same thing with emails poor comunication. I don't recommend this company at all.Emily Cooper and Astin Slade are no good lawyers. Don't trust them they tell you one date and call you a year after. If you go to their office they will tell you that you need to make an appointment and when you call they won't answer.

This place is a complete ripoff! They will keep charging your account for every inquiry you want to know about but NEVER send you the information your asking for! I asked for a payoff amount 15 times and all emails have gone unanswered and ignored but they keep charging me for every email I sent it without a response! I would give -100 stars if I could! They are crooks and worst humans on the planet to take advantage of people that are trying to pay off debt!

Austin Slade assesses charges on the account for billable attorney hours, yet no communication took place nor was I made aware of these charges until it was due. How does that work!? Extremely unprofessional and highly unethical. I will be pursuing this with the state.

IMHO, the creatures that run this place are not human.

Austin Slade is very unprofessional. He raised his voice when we questioned their ethics. They prey on those who do not understand the legal mumbo jumbo they spew. Please. If you are going through a judgment with these attorneys and your HOA, dont give up the fight. These people need to be stood up to. Otherwise, they will continue robbing people of their hard earned money. They have grubby hands and will do anything to take your money away. Stay strong and continue fighting these types of crooks. HOA companies need to find a more honest, integrity driven law firm than Maxwell & Morgan! God Bless! UPDATE: I want to give thanks to Emily C. at the Tucson branch.
