Derek is the most knowledge attorney I have spoke with regarding overseas unreported assets. I am assisting my aunt handle an estate of a man who we have just learned never reported overseas holdings and had not filed a tax return since 2000. Derick provided information on the various programs available under these circumstances and where to begin. He even took the time to research a particular and point and send a follow up email. We had a letter from IRS saying we owed $247,000 on our 2012 taxes. We know we didn't because we didn't even make that amount. We asked around for a tax attorney and was given Derek Kaczmarek's name and contacted him. With all our paperwork in hand we sat down and he understood the issues and drafted a letter to the IRS. The letter was comprehensive and outlined the issues that the IRS had with our tax return. Based on the information in the letter, the IRS reviewed our taxes and advised us that the correction was only $290. I was extremely pleased with Derek's handling of this IRS Tax problem. Even though I tried several time to respond to the IRS's letters of unpaid taxes from 2010, it became apparent that the IRS would not listen to a lowly taxpayer and that more 'horsepower' was going to be needed to convince the IRS that NO taxes were owed but rather the problem rested with BBVA Compass Bank for not reporting 1098 mortgage interest paid and incorrectly reporting 1099 Interest earned to the IRS. A great job acting as my representative with the IRS and with keeping me informed on the status of where things stood.
