Bad things happen to good people. Even good people make well planned decisions that turn up unexpected consequences. In times like those, we need a team that help us through our difficulty. In my work with the Dodds Law Firm I have worked with Mr. Dodds and his team. I am appreciative to them for the responsive they have demonstrated in their interaction with me. I have no reservation in referring their services to anyone who needs the best in legal service.

I paid $50 for a consultation. The. Lawyer. Would. Not. Shut. Up. He kept telling story after story to “explain things.” He did not bother to ask what my information base already was, and he even apologised for going on and on. I even stepped out because I had been working in the yard for a few hours previous and that combined with some reasonable levels of anxiety made breathing quite difficult. He didn’t take the hint.
Finally, after some two hours, I wrote down what I wanted on a sheet of blank paper and pushed it to him. I am usually extraordinarily polite. I am the sort of person who will, oh I don’t know, sit there and listen to some man prattle on for two hours. I pushed it to him and said “this is what I want. Can you help me or not?” He replied he could not save for one component.
What could have taken 20-30 minutes, ended up taking two hours. I stood, gathered my paperwork, and told my husband “We’re done here.” The next day, I received a call asking for my card number again because the receptionist had not taken it down correctly. I honestly considered not throwing wasted money after wasted time. I truly did.
Addendum:
I only write reviews if I think it will serve a purpose, in this case, to save others some time and grief. I stand by my original review, and I appreciate the law firm’s reply as an opportunity for improvement.
What the rebuttal said was true: I did not produce that document until later in the meeting because I really had no clue what I was looking for, and I said as much. In my line of work, I would have handled a similar situation thusly:
Me: So tell me about your surgery some eight years ago.
Patient: Well, I work in retail and haven’t really been to the doctor much since then but I have this stack of twenty papers. I don’t understand 90% of it.
Me: Would you mind if I took a look at them? I’m sure I could find the information we need because this is my profession, and I am very familiar with these things.
Unfortunately, even if I had found that paper earlier, it would have still had the same result: another 30 minute story I didn’t need to hear. I understood clearly that there was nothing that could be done, but as I said above, I had a list of five things. That was one item. There were four other items about which I got to hear extensive explanations, analogies, metaphors, stories, expounding, and pedagogy.
Tl;dr: I am not trying to be unkind. I am pointing out that when someone is anxious as indicated by the person stating they need to get some air or in probably every instance having to do with child support or custody, it would probably be better to use more concise explanations along with observations of that person’s receptivity and capacity for information. If that person appears distressed enough to the point that the narrator feels the need to apologise for his or her long-windedness, THAT is the time to employ brevity because to do otherwise completely disregards any concern for the client, and I am sure that is not what the lawyer meant to do.

I scheduled a consultation with an attorney at this firm. When he found out I was not employed, his only interest was to discourage me and drive me away by being rude, abrasive, condescending and disrespectful. His only concern was how I was going to pay him and proceeded to tell me he has clients who pay him $20,000 to $30,000 a month to represent them. (As if that has any bearing on anything concerning me.) The consultation was a complete and total waste of time and money. I didn't even get my questions answered because of his rudeness and disrespect of me. I could not leave fast enough! I was not able to post this without checking one star, but truly it should be zero!
RESPONSE
In response to the owners response:. I do not appreciate being called a liar. I was there. He was not. I have no doubt that when the attorney I was mistreated by was called to account he misrepresented what he said to me. I stand by everything I said. It happened. He bragged about being paid $20-30,000 a month by some clients. He told me his minimum fee was $10,000 to start and I would have to post a guarantee of payment before he would begin. I was advised by the attorney I retained not to go to this meeting. Not only was I disrespected and condescended to, much of the "advice" I was given was simply not correct. The purpose of meeting with the owner, I'm sure, was to get me to change my review. I stand firmly behind my statements. What I said in my review was just a small sampling. There was much more. Don't call me a liar. You weren't in the room!

This firm was an absolute delight to work with! In the first five minutes, we could tell that we'd met our attorney with Mr. Dodds. He is courteous, knowledgeable, and very reasonable. Most importantly, he acted with unwavering integrity and professionalism throughout our proceedings. His staff are phenomenal, considerate to client needs and issues, and we worked very well together.
If you need an attorney with compassion, conviction and decades of experience, look no further than the Dodds Law Firm.

Upon reviewing Happy Powers one-star review, I searched the firm's data base to obtain his contact information so that I could speak with him to address his concerns expressed in his Google review. However, the firm's data base does not reflect that Mr. Powers ever sought or received a consultation with our firm. I then took the time to speak with the attorneys employed by the firm and not one of them recalls speaking with Mr. Powers.
Notwithstanding our confusion of who Mr. Powers is, I invite Mr. Powers to contact my office and that he request to speak directly with me--Dan Dodds. If it is determined that Mr. Power did, in fact, speak with one of my attorneys, I will gladly provide him with a courtesy consultation with me at no cost to him.
Historically, the vast majority of the firm's clients report they were and remain pleased with the legal services the firm provided to them. Nonetheless, if Mr. Powers is displeased with one of my staff members, I would appreciate him extending me the courtesy to allow me to see if I can correct his opinion of our firm.
