After a 2 year battle with California EDD, Pershing Square stood beside me and fought long and hard to get me the money the EDD owed me. Every step of the way they helped me, reassured me we would prevail and have the most professional and caring team. I never would have been paid without having their help. I was left high and dry during COVID because of not being paid by California EDD under the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program. Yesterday the long nightmare ended over 2 years since it started, with the back pay finally being cleared by my financial institution. I moved back to Australia in May this year and now I can finally buy a car and help my aging parents as full time carer. I hired Pershing Square Law Firm because I submitted documents to the EDD incorrectly and now I was faced with the EDD making me pay back the $21k in benefits I received during the pandemic. The first attorneys I spoke to there told me I had a good case at not having to pay back the EDD, so I hired them for a $1200 retainer. In my preliminary conversation with an attorney there, I was told the deadline for submitting documents wasn't really a hard deadline, and I was also told that I would speak to someone the day before the telephonic appearance. I did speak to my assigned attorney the day before the appearance, and then I was told that I would be called at a certain time prior to the appearance the next day to have a final discussion before the appearance. The time came and no one called. I waited five, then 10, then 15 minutes then I called them. Finally I was connected to one of their lawyers whom I had never spoken with before, he knew nothing about my case and gave me no advice. When the judge came on the line and asked me questions, the attorney at the firm said basically nothing because he obviously didn't know anything about my case. I felt helpless and as if I had been totally abandoned. I didnt know how I should answer the questions. The judge even admonished me for not submitting my documents in a timely fashion, which went completely against what the attorneys at Pershing Square had told me. A few days later I received a letter telling me that I had lost the case and that I would have to re-pay the $21,000 to the EDD. This law firm took my money and did nothing to help me. They assured me I would be taken care of, but they did not do what they said they would do. Now I have to pay back the EDD, and I paid this dishonest law firm $1200. I recommend you do not hire Pershing Square Law Firm. They cheated me, and they just might cheat you too.

I was disqualified for benefits but won the case and got the decision reversed with the help of my Attorney Letty! This whole ordeal has been so stressful but they made it pretty simple. So happy to put this behind me now!! Thanks Alot :)

They never call you back don’t wast your time every time I have called I was on the phone for over 1 hours no one pick up or they say they will call back they never do so frustrating and wast of time

This law firm did not properly set expectations of how they would handle my case at all. I did not feel properly prepared for my “argument” in front of the judge nor did they care to hear my opinion about the matter either. In my opinion this law firm takes advantage of people desperately in need of money and provides less than adequate help. Don’t expect this firm to be much help at all and don’t expect much direction on how your case will be handled. You upload documents and then get a phone call the day before your hearing to get yourself in order. Don’t expect any further help or direction for your 1500 dollars. Having worked in the legal field.. I am ashamed to know these firms are out there.
