My case maybe one of the most complicated domestic abuse case you could have taken. I was a single mother with two children, not married and in an abusive relationship with the father of my children. Trusting him, I previously gave money to him for a down payment for “our” house and after many years later found out that he didn’t even put my name on the deed. So the house wasn’t even mine. I went to a Pasadena Law firm a few times and was always on the fence back and forth (5+ years…) trying to actually pull the trigger on getting custody of my kids and getting out of this relationship safely. The firm finally gave my case over to Debbie and I am so thankful that they did. She has so much compassion and forethought to help me navigate through the most difficult time in my life. I was emotionally spent trying to work and financially take care of my children while trying to fight this court battle. Debbie took the majority of the burden off my plate and I only had to review her documents prior to submission. Three days prior to our first court hearing, the father of my children decided to do another abusive act to frighten me. Debbie quickly recommended we issue a restraining order and within a few days his lawyers also issued a counter restraining order against me. In the court room, Debbie’s ability to really substantiate our restraining order case was strong against his lawyer’s that I knew that day after both of us had spoken on the witness stand that she was the best lawyer you could have gotten for a domestic abuse case. I was awarded a restraining order against him for two years and, more importantly, awarded sole custody of my children. After 3-4 months of additional court battle following the restraining order case, he was order to pay more than half of my legal fees and I was able to stay in "his house" for over a year until I could get on my feet and move to an affordable housing for my kids and I. This is a result of having the best lawyer in domestic abuse cases on your side and I will always be forever grateful for Debbie Soleymani and what she has done for us.
