He was able to negotiate everything I wanted and took the time to find the right solution that would maximize the end result. Avoid Stephen at all costs. My experience was absolutely terrible below are the issues I encountered. -after our first court hearing Stephen tried to shoo me out of the court room. My initial thought was he was going to talk to the judge about the case since we showed up in person and my Ex did not. I was totally wrong, he proceeded to show the judge and the rest of the court room pictures of his daughter after basically getting the time I had with my daughter cut in half. -Then the real problems began. His office became unresponsive, sometimes I would have to send 3-5 emails to get simple answers or replies. -His office then proceeded to forget to file my paperwork and tried to rush me to get my end done since the court date was approaching. When I asked why it was over a month late, he said it was a clerical error and got lost in a stack of paperwork (its 2022 stephen, its mostly digital). I told him he would have to file an extension and that I would not be paying for his office to file it. Then then proceeded to send me a bill for the extension. I sent a total of seven email saying I would not be paying for their mistakes, with no response. I finally got a phone call from the person that Stephen said made the mistake that I wouldn't be charged. -They uploaded someones case files to my file asking for signatures. -He raised his prices twice in the one year that I was with him, when he should have been cutting them in half. -Was late to a court hearing, so much so that the court asked me if I still had representation. -I eventually dropped his services not because I couldn't afford them, but because I ended up with less time with my daughter then when I started. Do yourself a favor and save your time, money and family and go with a different lawyer.

It's hard to find a good lawyer in los angeles. I originally spoke to this guy $100 for a consultation. At the time I scheduled they said his retainer is $6000. After my consultation they said it's $8000. They wont accept a credit card payment. He told me to my face that it's illegal for attorneys to accept a credit card payment for a retainer In the state of california. It's just a lie it's not true. This guy's is a scumbag. Run fast and far from this place. I found the best lawyer ever in orange county his name is Michael Burt.. please look him up. He is the most amazing lawyer I have ever seen in my life and a great guy. I'm blessed that a friend of mine had used him and gave me his number. I could have never found him through a google search. I live in Burbank and he appeared for me in Pasadena on a child custody case.

I found Stephen when I was going through one of the most challenging and unfortunate times of my life. I had another family attorney, but I knew I had to make a change to move forward with my child custody case, and I was not wrong. Stephen is a fair, honest attorney who truly cares about his clients' families and provides them with the most ethical experience. Thanks to Stephen and his team (Julian Brown), this child custody process has been more bearable and less stressful because they make me feel safe and protected. Additionally, they are excellent in communicating updates on your case and giving the best legal advice. I will definitely recommend Stephen L. Cawelti to anyone who needs a family attorney.

Stephen and his team explained how to best respond to an emotional parent. Whether it was over text or in person I always had an open line for questions before I made an emotional response. Being in a fight or flight mind set when dealing with an attached mom is draining when all you have is hope for equal rights and time. Stephen delivered at the right time and told my side with maximum efficiency. Julian and Jonnie are also both gifted, experience, & education, paralegals in the family law circle and it shows. The Cawelti law team is beyond reproach when it comes to fairness and given this great advantage at no point did his team ever escalate the case nor did they become an attack dog. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for Stephen. I called him during a very stressful time in my life and he was calm, understanding and really listened to me. During the process he and his team were very quick to get back to me, coming up with different avenues when one didn't workout. I always felt like they had my best interest at heart and really cared about my case. During the process in court Stephen was ASTOUNDING. He helped me understand what was going on, gave me helpful feedback and was making sure I was doing ok as one day in court turned into three. I felt safe on the stand knowing he was in court with me. He even made time in between days to call me on the phone and prepare me for the following day going through even small details so I would be prepared for anything. Hearing him give the closing argument for me gave both me and my friend (who was by my side) chills. He really is meant to be a for this line of work. After Stephen had won my case, I called my family and friends and just went on and on about how blessed I felt that God had put Stephen in my path to help me through a difficult time. Don't even waste time looking around. Stephen is worth every penny. He's your guy! I hope I wont even need a lawyer again but if I do, I know who I'll be calling. Thank you Stephen!! I am forever grateful for you!
