First let me start by saying that I have never worked with an attorney in any capacity. So, the thought of hiring an attorney to deal with an inherited estate seemed daunting. I did an initial search for an estate lawyer on and near my area in Gresham. There were attorneys in Gresham, which I would have preferred due to the near proximity. I did a thorough vetting of would be candidates. I narrowed it down to four, three of whom were in Portland. All four had high ratings/reviews and acceptable rates. So, It was a difficult decision based on that. What tipped it for me in Karn Tarper's favor was the sincerity in his eyes. To me, trust begins with how a person looks at you. And, It's something you can't explain. So, I went with that. And my instincts proved to be spot on. Not only was Karn a true professional at his craft but it turned out that we shared similar world views. So, that was an added plus. To the matter at hand. Our initial meeting came off very smooth. We, my brother and I, felt very comfortable in his office. He was, what I felt his vibe to be in his website picture, very pleasant, sincere and approachable. We sat down and got to know and feel for each other before attending to business. He was very thoughtful, considerate and responsive to our questions and needs. From the legal aspect, he pretty much broke down all the steps necessary for the probate process to move forward. His explanation were thorough and easy to process. He doesn't leave any stone unturned. I felt very confidant at that point. He assured us, almost guaranteeing that the entire process, specifically, regarding my particular estate situation, was pretty straight forward with very little, if no, hitches at all. He talked me through what all my obligations would be once he fulfilled the process of having me elected by the courts to be the legal personal representative of my parent's estate. And those obligations were not difficult to assume and fulfill, because Karn guided me through every step, a process which took about six months from opening to closing. And, here, the most important aspect, his rate is very reasonable. He will outline this very early on and inform you of the services required and the necessary fees to expect so that, financially, you are not left mystified. Overall, my brother and I were enthusiastically pleased with Karn and his capacity as our personal probate attorney. And as promised, there were absolutely no hitches. For the most part, I hardly did anything. I mean, he did everything with such thoroughness. All I did, really, was go over emailed documents and E-sign them where necessary. In fact, we haven't had to meet again since our initial meeting. Everything was done remotely, because I lived a hundred miles away. I highly recommend Karn Thapar if you need help with your estate issues.
