I never thought I would need to retain a lawyer to assist me after a layoff, but that was not the case recently. I was referred to Dawn via an acquaintance and from the beginning, Dawn was so helpful in assisting me in navigating things from start to finish. She is very thorough with the clients she takes on and the initial paperwork recounting everything was important in helping her understand the full picture of my situation. Many thanks to Dawn Knepper for was instrumental in helping me navigate this unknown world of using an employment lawyer to help negotiate an exit based on discrimination and whistleblower retaliation. Not only was Dawn able to keep me informed and educated every step of the way, there may have been many times when she had to even play the role of “Therapist” - such a mix of emotions, from anger, sadness, shock but Dawn kept me focused on what was important and helped manage expectations. When we were working to finalizing the negotiations and the other side was not budging, and neither were we, she was able to showcase what moving forward past negotiations into the litigation stage would look like for both myself and my employer. This was enough for my company to settle for what we asked for, much more than what Dawn had said was typical to expect from this type of case. Happy unfortunately is not a word one can use regardless of outcome - the mix of emotions of being forced out and one’s reputation being destroyed, however I left much more than satisfied. One will be lucky to work with Dawn Knepper for any employment issue.

Dawn is an amazing advocate for people who like me who don't know the law and what our options are during layoffs. My employer has been systematically eliminating more senior roles held by older employees, and offered me a terrible severance agreement. I consulted with Dawn about the agreement, not certain I had a case. She not only explained California law, she agreed that I had a case and we got to work. Over 6-8 weeks, she was able to put pressure on the company and successfully negotiated significantly more money on my behalf. She was very responsive and communicated clearly with me throughout.
