STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS ATTORNEY ! He may have many years of experience but that DOT NOT MEAN HE KNOWS THE APPLICABLE LAWS ! nor does he actually take the time to find out unfortunately at your expense. We were referred to him by one of our attorneys at the time (2018) regarding a lawsuit from a homeowner at an HOA that has not paid their dues in over 5 years. The homeowners hired an attorney whom (actually he found them) sued under the FDCA. For OVER ONE YEAR we fought this frivolous lawsuit knowing nothing had been done inappropriately and every step of the law/timeline under the Davis-Stirling Act had been followed. After paying $16,542.98 in legal fees to Barry Ross he said we are going to trial which would cost between $50k-$70k. Ridiculous .. even if we won there was no way the homeowners were going to be able to reimburse the legal fees. So we settled May 21, 2019. What Barry Ross DID NOT KNOW OR MENTION.. IS THAT THE SUPREME COURT HAD RULED TWO MONTHS EARLIER THAT THE FDCA DOES NOT APPLY TO COMPANIES AS OURS OR TO HOA’s. He had us settle a lawsuit that DID NOT APPLY TO US. Careful.. he may have you settle a lawsuit for medical malpractice even if you are an HOA. He also failed to mention in the OVER A YEAR of billing thousands that a FDCA violation is a $1,000 fine. He charged over $16k to defend a $1,000 fine. Convenient for him that he forgot to mention this. STAY FAR AWAY.. he’s only looking out for his pocket and not you, hoping you won’t find out he’s incompetent. Unfortunately, I discovered this just recently and our attorney states that we are past the one year statute of limitation to bring a malpractice lawsuit. I wrote to him over 30 days ago to see if he would do the right thing as far as fees charged and ask him how he could have not been aware of such an important case on the Supreme Court docket. He chose not to respond. Doesn’t even stand up for or acknowledge his own mistakes. Don’t make the same mistake we did..

I could post the same as other reviewers have; high cost, little return for it, lack of communication regarding charges, a feeling you were taken advantage of... and it is all true, in my experience. Find someone without the negative reviews, or you might have to post a negative review yourself as the only way to warm others not to hire someone with so many bad reviews.

Barry prepared a letter to my HOA and gave me 24 hours to review it or he would send it as is. (I personally drafted the two arguments for the letter and asked to see the final product before it was sent.) Not only did I find numerous typos but I found several instances where Barry failed to correctly cite the law. In fact, I ended up finding over a dozen errors in the 2.5 page letter. Shockingly, Barry never apologized for his errors. Later, when opposing counsel asked Barry to seek my approval for the mediator they suggested Barry, without consulting me, falsely claimed that I agreed to the mediator. It was at that point that I fired Barry as he had never consulted with me about the mediator, much less informed me of the mediator's pros and cons. (It is extremely unusual for a plaintiff's attorney to readily agree to the first mediator suggested by a defendant's legal counsel.) During that conversation I told Barry I was annoyed that he never took ownership for the very sloppy letter he prepared to my HOA. Barry claimed it was a "draft" (as though sending a sloppy draft to a client is acceptable). When I reminded Barry that he had given me 24 hours to respond or he would send the letter as is, he had nothing to say. Even more shocking than Barry's work product is his billing practices. Among other things, he charged me for the letter in which he falsely claimed I agreed to mediation with a particular mediator. (As an aside, I have since learned that this mediator is avoided by plaintiffs' attorneys.) Barry also charged me for revising his letter to the HOA that contained all the errors I pointed out. I am so sorry to have to post this information but I strongly encourage anyone reading it to seek someone else if they require legal help.

My case is not finished yet. I hired Barry Ross to represent me against my neighbor and my HOA. He is doing an excellent job. When given the choice of proceeding with a costlier option, he always encourages the less expensive option, if it can achieve the same goal. He holds his ground against aggressive attorneys who try to delay cases. I would recommend him.

Mr. Ross is very knowledgeable in the fields of Homeowner Association Law and Real Estate. He helped me in my litigated case which was headed for trial. He is not afraid to try cases and agressively pursues the case to help get the best result. If you need an experienced attorney in a HOA or Real Estate Law case, Mr. Ross will do a great job.

Stay far away from this firm. He will take you for a ride and bill to his heart's content. He represented me in a case against my homeowner's association and billed me over $160,0000 for work that he didn't even do himself. He hired a contract attorney without telling me and charged me $400 per hour for that person's work which was useless. Ultimately, I had to settle my case because he was such a terrible attorney for less than half of my attorney's fees. When I disputed my fees and a panel of arbitrators agreed that he over billed me for duplicate and unnecessary work and billed without my authorization, he refuses to turn over my money. Stay far away from him and his firm. I wish I could give him an overall rating of 0 stars!!!

Mr. Ross talked a great fight until he got our retainer check. Then he wasted it quickly on petty things that did not further our case. We hire attorneys for their knowledge and abilities to work withing the legal system to accomplish our goals. Mr. Ross used a lot of time and money to "research" and gain understanding regarding the matters of our case. These matters were all things he professed to have a complete understanding of before we hired him. Mr. Ross should have been very well versed in the matters based on the type of attorney presents himself to be, but he billed us for days of "research" with nothing to show for it. Once we found that he was not who he presented himself to be we also found that he charged us extensively, not only without achievement, but also without more than a vague description for the great number of hours in his billing. We have other attorneys on retainer, but not versed in the matters for which we hired Mr. Ross. We have years of experience working with attorneys, some great, some not-so-great. Mr. Ross is an enigma who does not even rise to the standards of not-so-great.
