After a brief consultation with Stephen, I knew he was the lawyer for me. He explained the separation and divorce processes and prepared me step by step as to what to expect. He provided me with valuable, honest and accurate advice. He was professional and supportive. He did not waver and maintained a strong work ethic throughout the process. From the beginning, I trusted him and knew my case was in good hands. Getting through a divorce is a difficult, nerve- racking and painful experience ( at least it was for me), but I knew Stephen was there for me representing my best interest. He kept me focused, answered my many questions, emails and phone calls, and effectively dealt with the endless paperwork, emails, and negotiations. I highly recommend Stephen.

Hired the lawyer outside of Avvo. He works incredibly hard, is compassionate but in a supportive and objective way that is absolutely crucial. He is reasonable and understanding, and will double check when things don't sound quite right, but will never DOUBT you. He does all of this on an ethical highground, and when his pen starts to flip, he is working his magic! I found him via Yelp, and who knew it was helpful for more than just food and dry cleaners? He was exactly what my family needed, and everyone around the table finished dinner satisfied.

I needed a lawyer for work on a prenuptial agreement and was incredibly lucky to have found Stephen. The work done was fantastic, there was progress at good speed but the attention to detail from both Stephen and his assistant Valerie was evident. Beyond thankful for Stephen Chen's wisdom/advise in Family Law, compassion towards his clients needs, his communication (email, text, phone), execution and always available in a moments notice. Stephen's dedication TRULY sets him apart in Family Law. He's knowledgable, a straight shooter and an attorney who listened to our every concern. He was also prepared with questions and always kept our meetings on track without wasting our time (which could cost more money). Prior to Stephen, we had a nightmare of an experience with another attorney and that costed our DVRO case (including crucial evidence i.e: pics, text, videos that was dismissed with the DVRO). It was such an injustice and devastation to our family. However, before custody issues (case) began, Stephen was able to see the truth behind our jurisdictional concerns and shed light over a scenario that was going south very quick. No other attorney was able to understand the UCCJEA and explain it like him. As a result, he redeemed our family with facts and the judge was able to see through the slander from opposing party and counsel. The judge relinquished jurisdiction in CA, turned the case over to its rightful owner & closed the case all together. Stephen Chen's work ethic, knowledge and quick thinking gives you the confidence that he's been in the field for decades. He researches and questions everything, we never had to doubt or worry that he was fighting on our behalf, in & outside of court. To give you a lil context, the complexity and trajectory of our case after the DVRO case needed nothing short of a miracle. We decided to call Stephen one last time (he was on paternity leave when we initially called him) he took on our case in a moment's notice and accomplished SOO much more in a 30 minute meeting than the previous attorney accomplished in the few months prior. Stephen's conviction opened doors that were closed according to everyone else. As a result, he opened the eyes of all the attorneys and judges involved -- Justice was SERVED! Stephen Chen's Assistant Valerie also privided us Excellent customer service. It's no wonder his firm keeps rising to the top. He will always be the first Family Law attorney we will call on and/or highly reccommend for legal advice. I HIGHLY recommend Stephen Chen to be your attorney. If I ever need a California attorney or if someone needs one this is the only person I would call. I was fighting for jurisdiction in Idaho and the previous attorney I had messed up my case. She dug us in a huge hole and did absolutely nothing for my case. I had to submit paperwork to the judge the next day and previous attorney didn’t start on it. We asked Stephen Chen if he could take on the case and he saved my case! I finally got jurisdiction over my daughter in Idaho. I don’t know what I would do without Stephen Chen’s help. He sincerely cares about his clients and super passionate about his job.
