It is an honor to give Attorney Martin Lijtmaer 5 stars. He has solved a huge problem and source of heartache for our family, which was my partner’s criminal case. His expertise as well as his tireless, well-focused and continuous work made it possible for our case to be successfully resolved. His communication with the entire family was always one of great support; his positive attitude helped keep our spirits up. He approached my partner’s case with compassion and kindness and that meant a lot to us while we were going through such a tough time. TLDR; Martin Litmaer is an excellent attorney who will look for creative ways and fight for your rights to resolve your situation. Hes compassionate, and sees you as a person and not just another case number. His fees are also extremely reasonable give how stressful, disasterous and damaging (financially, mental health, etc.) legal issues can be to one's life, and he understands this. Together we fought a felony charge over the span of 1 year which resulted in the charges being dropped and case dismissed. More below: I little over a year ago, I received a call from the LAPD notifying me that I was being charged with a felony (for a crime I didn't even commit, it just happened that the law had recently changed without my knowledge and I was found out of compliance). Prior to consulting Martin, i had a brief interaction with a public defender (AKA public pretender), who was completely unhelpful. I was then referred to Martin through family. After our consultation I immediately hired Martin. He consulted me on the legal process, and together we went to the courthouse to "turn myself in" and clear the warrant (because, I wasn't actually arrested committing a crime). Martin convinced the judge to release me without bail (saving me $4k bail bond fees on an originally set $40k bail). Over the next year, we had a dozen court dates together and multiple phone calls and texts, devising a strategy to resolve this (what I call it, an injustice). Ultimately, after pivoting a couple times and trying a couple strategies, we found one that sticked, worked on that together and the case was dismissed.

Martin has been my lawyer on multiple cases spanning 5 years. He is not only an excellent lawyer, but also cares about his clients. He looks at you as an individual rather than just a case number. When I first met him, I was in a rough place and he spoke on the phone with me for over an hour making me realize that I was a victim of a crime and that I needed to stand up for myself. He became an advocate for me and believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. He went over and beyond for my case, consoling me when things got rough and in the end was able to get my case dismissed and sealed. He later assisted me with receiving my medical license and again worked hard and diligently. My life has changed since I met Martin and he helped me get back on the right track. On top of that he always had a great attitude and was a pleasure to be around.

I wanted to write a ton but I will keep it simple. Martin is simply an outstanding lawyer. About four months ago, I received a letter from LA city attorney's office that they filed a complaint against me. I was in a desperate situation and did not know what to do. Since I am a F-1 visa holder, the situation was even more complicated with immigration issues. Many lawyers I contacted - some have very impressive background (i.e former prosecutors) and some with many years of experiences, working at big firms. The common denominator among them was this: now many of them were interested in the person who I am. Many of them asked very specific questions even before I explained the situation - "Have you ever been arrested?, where and when the incident took place? " - once they think they got everything they need, it was obvious to me that they already finished their on summary of the situation and conclusion. Martin is, first and foremost, a human before a lawyer. He cares of you and listen to you very carefully in order to understand who you really are. He first carefully examined the situation as I told him what happened. He then explained the situation from a legal point of view and the possible consequences. (Many lawyers were very vague about "possible outcomes," and tries to use it as a leverage.) I was very impressive first for his excellent knowledge but also because of his personal approach to me, which was very unusual. After I decided to hire Martin, he and I closely communicated. He explained whenever some important issues are brought up. He suggested his approaches and tells me his opinion, but leave s the decision up to me, which made me very comfortable. I had the privilege and pleasure of getting to watch Martín in action when I found him to represent a friend who had been wrongfully accused. First and foremost, he successfully got all charges dropped when the prosection refused to carefully consider the facts and evidence and even at a time when the prosecutor wanted to up the stakes. He skillfully handled the preliminary hearing by, among other things, slamming the state's witnesses on cross examination.
