From the moment I was arrested boarding a plane to Vancouver at SFO, I was at a disadvantage. My rights, dignity and part of my self esteem/self-respect were taken from me when the customs and immigration agents handcuffed me and perp-walked me through the SF International Terminal. The unfolding drama would breathe new life into a decades old familial rift between my sibling and I. While sitting in a jail cell in Redwood City, I realised I would need proper representation. Having never needed a criminal defence attorney, I did some quick web research and took a chance. Mr. Crowell called within hours and he made me feel more at ease from that first phone call. The scene of the 'crime' was Placer County, the evidence was a few text messages - sent by me while intoxicated - to a former employee of the penal system - my beloved bro. The case would end up dragging on for almost 15 months before Mr. Crowell reached a deal on my behalf that was better than I could have hoped for: Two felonies (one a strike felony) reduced to a special misdemeanour. Punishment reduced from possible four years incarceration to 30 days inpatient rehab, a year of weekly domestic violence classes, community service, fines and 3 years supervised probation. As frustrated and helpless as I felt that morning boarding a plane for Canada, in the end it was Mr. Crowell and his accomplished team of lawyers and assistants who gave me back my freedom and a chance to rebuild my life. I can't recommend Hendrick and the Crowell Law office with a rating higher than 5 stars but I would easily give him twice that many. I am forever grateful for his professionalism, guidance, tenacity and diligence in achieving the best possible outcome for me.
