In my 40+ years of conducting criminal investigations and recently post-conviction work, Ms. Diane Letarte is by far one of the better criminal defense attorneys in California. In my review of her recent representation of an inmate in a Parole hearing, she presented one of the best defense and arguments on behalf of her clients I have ever reviewed. In shows that Diane Letarte really enjoys her work, fights hard for her clients and is a very strong advocate in every sense of the word. Hats off to Ms Letarte

My husband is a youth offender and he has been in prison for over 24 years, he had his 1st board hearing July 7, 2023 and he was found situatable. Ms. Letarte did an amazing job preparing my husband and giving us the family guidance and templates. My very 1st call to her was one of the best experiences I had. I had felt i had hit a dead end with the lack of interest, all others asked for a retainer to be able to speak to us, she was different. She talked to me for about 40 minutes, giving me options and guiding me, she never asked for money until we hired her. Yolanda her legal assistant is also fabulous. I worked on a complex case years ago regarding lifer parole law. Specifically, the In re Butler decision that affects how the BPH calculates time served/time owed. While other attorneys struggled with the concept and disagreed at the pro se level, Diane understood the issue, and dove in as a sounding board to help the cause. It speaks volumes about her keen understanding of actual parole law, and she's not afraid to stand up for the good of her clients. Almost a decade later, we can clearly see the outcome of that case, and how it changed the legal landscape. Diane is thoughtful and analytical, not dismissive, and she's very humble and kind. You can't teach those things. She has had a very long streak of success for a reason. I wouldn't hesitate to hire her if I ever had to face the Board. She is the only person among the big names I would actually consult first for representation actually....

Diane Letarte has been working for my loved one since 2015. She skillfully took his case to Los Angeles in 2016 where she had LWOP removed from his life sentence. She relentlessly fought for his freedom and thoroughly navigated him through the successful granting of his parole last month by the commissioners in his Board of Parole Hearing even in the middle of this deadly pandemic over zoom videos! My loved one has been incarcerated for 26 years!!! He is coming home before Christmas now and I can't thank Diane and Yolanda enough for helping us ( and putting up with my whiny phone calls) ! She's the BEST ever! OUR MOST GRATEFUL THANKS AND APPRECIATION!

We first hired Ms Letarte for one of our family members 3 years ago or so. Then hired her again for a different family member this year. Both times our family members were found suitable for release. Both were given life sentences and with the help of Ms Letarte both have another chance at living a life outside of prison walls. Thanks once again and we highly recommend her services.

Diane Letarte has been invaluable in preparing my son for his parole. She has constructively guided us in the path of what is needed by the inmate to be successful in his parole appearance. Diane was hired, she in California, my son in a Midwest state, but governed by the State of California. Negotiating a long distance parole has been challenging as these two states run on different programs, expectations, what is offered for jobs, libraries, programs. Diane and her team, Thank you Yolanda, coached him, found programs for him to participate in and knew what needed to be done. Taking accountability is a high priority for Diane's clients and she knows this is one of the biggest pluses when going before the parole board. It is abundantly clear she knows what her job and performance means to her clients and their family. After the second parole hearing we were successful...Diane and staff...we thank you for helping us and paving the way for our son to come home. My personal opinion? You could not find a better firm to help you with your legal defense.

I was a difficult person to defend in a hearing and Diane was awesome. After 13 hearings with other attorneys she got me out. Then she went on to get my special child out who is the love of my life. No other attorney is even close for b.p.h. hearings
