After 7 months of no contact with my daughter’s father, one day I was served with a domestic violence restraining Order that granted him full custody of our daughter. This was the most traumatizing time of my life. My daughter’s father had always been an absent father since day one and even this year the last time he saw her was for a quick visit in February 2021. We had absolutely no contact and he hired the most dirty/wicked/Un-honest attorney to make up lies and mis-lead the court to make it look like I have been harassing him and he lied and said our daughter (that he knew nothing about) was in danger. He filed this non-sense DVRO because Child Support Services started garnishing his checks in June 2021 so exactly one month later he filed a ridiculous DVRO which we believe was triggered by child support starting to garish his checks. He was mad. Miss.Donovan was God sent.. 100%. I met her in line as I was trying to file a ex-parte to get custody back of my daughter. Scared, worried, heart-broken.. I met Miss.Donovan in line as I was trying to file a ex-parte. She was so sweet and took the time to talk to me. A few days later I was able to retain her and we had our VICTORY in court. I’ll never forget when she called me the day before our hearing and said “Amanda I need you to be in Prayer”. She advised me they were going to lie, lie, lie in court and to let it go in one ear and out the other. Miss.Donovan is Smart, Honest, realistic, & really treats you with respect. I know God uses her to help people like me who’s world got turn upside down due to a narcissistic person saying what they want to get back at someone. I was being punish by my daughter’s narcissistic father because I filed for child support. She believed me, never doubted me and was so for me. She had compassion. I am so blessed to had her represent me in my domestic violence case. That she SQUASHED in ONE court hearing!! I was so amazed and I know she was sent by God. She will give you wise Counsel. A fact about my case I did not have to say one word in court. Miss.Donovan was preparing me to testify and she crossed-examine the opposing counsel’s client & his false witnesses so well that after his testimony was done the judge granted her motion to dismiss the dvro against me. It all happened so quick. I didn’t even have to testify to all the lies!!! I really am thankful for her and Alex. Both are very sweet and have compassion. This attorney will fight for you as her client and care like a friend. She’s amazing. I am retaining her for my custody petition that came out of the dvro. I honestly feel like I’ve known Miss.Donovan since my daughter was born because she truly understands what has happened the whole past 2 years even though she is just getting sub on my case and sees what the opposing counsel & his client are trying to do. I am so happy that god put her in my path. Not only did she take my case she believed in my case. She treated me with so much respect and always was compassionate and honest with me. When we went into court I felt like she fought for me as a attorney should, as a mother , and as as friend. I've never seen a attorney fight so hard for a client. Skilled, experienced, exceptionally passionate, and ethical. These are just a few of the words that come to my mind with respect to Elisabeth. Trying to find one's way through the forest of divorce is not all that different from attempting to finding one's way through a marriage without having a healthy model to follow. All relationships are based on trust, and trust takes time. I initially contacted Elisabeth and attempted to protect myself in the context of a troubled marriage with a postnuptial agreement. I later decided against this approach. I next contacted her when my wife told me that she wanted a divorce. We then decided to try mediation, but this failed. I then retained another “high-powered” and very expensive attorney and quickly learned that contrary to urban legend, legal fees are driven higher by clients, not attorneys. Good attorneys will advise you based on their personal experience, statutory law, case law, and if necessary, their knowledge of the way local judges tend to rule. Based on my experience family law attorneys tend to be quite ethical and there is a reason why folks choose the field and become board-certified specialists. Much the same as there is a reason why people become therapists. My wife and I then once again went back to mediation. I decided to use Elisabeth as a consultant attorney rather than retain her to represent me. I learned that this is strictly a legal definition and has no relevance in terms of having an expert at your side. I would consistently hear the words from Elisabeth “this is the way a judge would rule”. Elisabeth was there to advocate for me, educate me, help me see my blind spots, review legal documents, and generally help me from going crazy! Divorce is not a lot of fun but having a skilled attorney allows one to move further along to the most important work, which is in my view, emotional healing and moving on in life. I am extremely grateful to have had Elizabeth by my side during this entire process.
