I would recommend staying away from this firm. Their billing practices are highly suspect (many hidden "fees" for seemingly nothing...just simple codes they input to mask work being done). Dealing with them was draining, stressful, and frustrating from the very beginning (which started out with no return phone call...I had to call again). I should have trusted my gut; I had a bad feeling from the get go, and it only got worse once they got my retainer! Now, after 2 weeks of ending my relationship, I am still waiting on the return of my retainer (minus all of their bogus fees, one of which I have already been warned will be a "closing cost"...they are charging me to end my relationship with them!). Like I said, STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

She was highly recommended to me by an friend, and hiring her was the best decision I ever made. Without her assistance, I would have given in so many times along this journey. She fought for me when I didn’t know how to stand-up for myself, and the end result was a settlement that far exceeded my expectations and at a cost far lower than the other party paid their attorney. Without her, I have no doubt I would have been paying outrageous alimony for the rest of my life. I hired John Sylvester two years ago while I was going through several issues in my family law case. To date, he has helped me resolve every single one of those issues in my favor. His professionalism and knowledge of the law is second to none. He was always responsive when I had questions. He helped me understand how everything worked, from RFOs, to subpoenas, to trial litigation. John always had a plan, and he was always prepared. He was able to take all the information I gave him and make sense of it all. John never pushed me to spend more money and Rebecca the co-owner was kind enough to work out the financial aspects of my bills with me. Cage & Miles, specifically Jillian Duggan-Herd, represented me in a custody case related to the welfare and protection of my teenage, transgendered son. The outcome of the case was not exactly what I had hoped for (which had nothing to do with my representation) but was still very positive and what I considered to be in my son’s best interest with what information was available to the court. Jillian was honest and realistic with me about everything throughout the process. If you do anything that may be considered inappropriate (even if you have the best intentions at heart) or are unrealistic in what you are asking for or your expectations, she will tell you. She genuinely had my son’s best interests in mind throughout the process and that was apparent in the manner in which she handled the case. She is extremely knowledgeable and very confident when speaking in court and negotiating with opposing counsel. In addition to Jillian, the rest of the legal team at C&M was wonderful to work with. They do their best to stretch your retainer by having other team members jump in and help with tasks that may not require Jillian’s attention—I think this is standard practice, but appreciated nonetheless. Jillian was honest up-front about the amount of money that I would likely be spending over the course of the case. This was valued because I think it helped me decide whether or not I was willing/able to take on that sort of financial obligation. I’d much rather have that knowledge up-front, than to run through my retainer and be unprepared (or unable) to refill it prior to completion of the case. Retaining an attorney can be very costly. I think it is important to know what you are getting when putting down such a large amount of money. C&M has many different attorneys working for their firm with a range of different rates. I was provided a list of available attorneys and their rates prior to moving forward with the free consult. I read the attorneys’ bios and researched them online before making a decision. Jillian’s services were on the more costly side; however, I felt that with her knowledge and experience, she was the best fit for my specific situation. The process of preparing and going to court can be extremely stressful, but having Jillian there to take the reins certainly minimized my anxiety. I have an immense amount of respect for her and what she does and highly recommend her and the C&M team to anyone looking to retain an attorney for family court needs.

If you're considering Cage & Miles and have the opportunity to work with John Sylvester, proceed with Confidence! John is a fantastic lawyer. I recently had an issue that required 4 lawyers across 2 states and John was by far the best of all of them. Not only is his knowledge of the law and the court's procedural processes unparalleled but his level of detail, "bedside manner," and investment of time to make sure you're prepared and updated make him a delight to work with.
