My experience with Elke & Merchant LLP was very positive. They helped me navigate a complicated lease termination issue when I needed to move out unexpectedly due to personal reasons. The attorneys were understanding, detailed, and strategic in their approach. They managed to negotiate terms with my landlord that allowed me to break my lease without severe financial penalties. The only drawback was the legal fees, which were a bit higher than I anticipated, but the quality of service justified the cost. I would definitely use their services again if needed.

Alex Merchant was so kind and helpful over the phone. My relative has been a resident of San Francisco for over 50 years and has been renting the same apartment more than 15 years and is now facing the possibility of eviction. Alex is simply fantastic. I got his name from a friend who knows many of the city’s tenant lawyers through her work - she told me he’s the best.
I can confirm his reputation, he was just amazingly knowledgeable, kind, and easy to work with. It’s obvious that he really cares for tenants.
Particularly with in-law units like mine, he had tricks up his sleeve that I don’t think other lawyers know. With his help, I had a great outcome to my case, better than I even imagined. Highest recommendation!
