I was charged for unlawful possession of a firearm in San Francisco. Neil was always willing to take my case to trial if that would have gotten us a better result, but he knew it would likely result in a conviction. So Neil spent a lot of time with me, listening to me about probation conditions that I did not like, and he masterfully negotiated a deal that avoided every condition I wanted to avoid. But most amazingly of all, somehow Neil negotiated to have two pistols returned to me that had been confiscated by the police. Neil was patient, thorough, and strategic, and that is why I recommend him to anybody who needs an attorney. Money well spent.

I hired Neil when I got into some trouble with the police a couple years ago and I was looking at several felony charges. Right from the start, he worked closely with my family to get me released with a really low bail. Then he took on my case and advocated for me every step along the way. He did his own investigations and kept me and my family informed as the case went on. The District Attorney wanted me to serve a year in jail on felonies but Neil’s hard work resolved the case for a single misdemeanor charge and a little more than one month of jail time. Neil's work has made it so I am able to live felony free and also be able to obtain a high security job, I would most definitely recommend his services if ever in any doubt with a new or pending case. Neil represented me in a DUI case. The facts of the case were very bad and I was looking at up to one year in the county jail. When Neil Hallinan took on my case, he told me that things would get much better and they did. When the DA wanted me to do a lot of jail time, Neil convinced them to let me get credit for doing it in an in-patient program (I was already planning on doing an in-patient program so it worked out perfectly). Neil really demonstrated compassion and wanted to get me a result that would actually help me beyond the case as well.

Neil was the second attorney that I had on my criminal case in San Francisco a few years ago. The first attorney wanted me to accept a felony conviction, but Neil said no way and advised me to fight until we beat the charges. He defended me at the preliminary hearing in my case, completely unraveled the witness’s story, and got the most serious charges dismissed. Then he told the prosecutor and the judge that we would not be taking any deal whatsoever. On the day that we were going to start trial, the DA dismissed the case against me altogether. My co-defendant got to settle her case for a misdemeanor, and even though she had her own lawyer, I think she got a better deal because Neil tore the case up so much at the preliminary hearing. Throughout the whole case, Neil was so respectful and caring, and really made the whole process as easy for me as it could be.
