I recently got married to my French husband. Naturally the immigration and green card applications seemed extremely daunting. My husband and I had decided it might be a good idea to have a short consultation with a lawyer. After speaking with a few people on the phone we happened to get ahold of Nicole from Hurtubise Weber and she was so calming, friendly and knowledgeable, we decided to go with Nicole. Nicole made the Intimidating process incredibly effortless. Our process went quick and smooth and our interview was easy and had less questions than we anticipated because our packets had been so well prepared by Nicole and Isabelle - our adjustment of status was approved on the spot and it was very clear how much it meant to both of them and they clearly were invested in our situation and outcome on a personal level. We cannot recommend Nicole and Isabelle enough! After contacting several different firms in the Bay Area and either receiving no reply or some fairly cold responses, we were lucky enough to find Hurtubise Weber Law on Yelp. They were the only immigration lawyers with a five-star rating - which they thoroughly deserve - and after meeting Nicole we knew we had made the right choice. When we first met with Nicole, we had just decided to get married, and needed guidance as to our next steps. Nicole patiently worked with us to outline our timeline over the next few months, as we filed the paperwork for a green card (for the spouse of an American citizen). The application process can be quite overwhelming, but Nicole helped us every step of the way and was always very quick to respond to any questions we had. While we compiled the application we were rarely out of touch and Nicole was always available if and when we needed her. On one occasion we also met with Isabelle, who despite other commitments made time for us. We found both Nicole and Isabelle to be very professional and extremely knowledgeable of their field, whilst also being sincere, personable and welcoming. They are both incredibly warm and friendly, and we felt very comfortable working with them. Although our case was fairly straightforward, we were very happy to have them there to help and guide us, and to keep us informed of every step of the process. I know it can be very challenging to find a good immigration lawyer. That is why I want to write a review to help people who feel overwhelmed in that quest. As an immigrant, I have been dealing a lot with immigration and therefore with immigration lawyers, so unfortunately I have seen my share of bad and good lawyers. I came here with lots of different working visas then I applied for my green card. The process should have been easy as I had hired a lawyer who was supposedly very good. Actually the file was not done properly, he had made mistakes and there were lots of inconsistencies. Therefore the immigration service denied my green card!!! That lawyer was not even able to explain why it was denied!!! I was totally depressed and SO disappointed, and felt cheated to have paid a useless lawyer. I was panicking. Thanks to a friend who highly recommended them, I found Isabelle and Nicole. I gave a desperate phone call thinking I was doomed. I talked to Isabelle who explained why I should not panic, even without seeing my file she already knew why it did not work and she said they could take my case over. She was very matter-of-fact and very hopeful. Then, I met Isabelle who explained in details how I should present my case, what further information I should provide. I did as she said, then I met her again so she could check all the information, then she sent it to the immigration and 3 weeks later I received my green card!! Both are very compassionate, and really want to help people, they are very smart and positive, and find ways to work around your case. Also, one of them immigrated here young and she saw her parents struggle to become legal, so she knows both sides of the story. I was always amazed to see how prompt they were in returning my calls and emails, and how detail-oriented they were. I was feeling very supported. Because of the urgency of my case, they even met with me and called me after business hours. People I know in the same situation as me usually have an interview! I received my green card with no interview!! No doubt thanks to them who made a huge difference.
