We have had a wonderful experience working with Mr. James Stein, attorney in San Ramon, CA, on developing our estate plan. At the beginning, James met with us, clearly explained the planning process, and provided detailed answers to our questions. During the development of the estate planning document, we met with James two more times to make sure that the estate planning portfolio fully satisfied our needs. Through the entire process, James was always prompt in responding to our questions. He completed the estate planning document exactly on time, as was originally discussed. Back in May of 2019 my mother and I consulted and then hired Mr Stein to prepare my mother's Trust documents. He was very professional and personable at every meeting. I have had other lawyers express frustration over my ignorance of the law, however Mr Stein never did, he always answered our questions patiently. In 2019 he listened to us explain our situation and took copious notes. When reviewing the documents he had prepared, we were very happy to see how he deftly and delicately explained that I was inheriting the house solely and not my sibling. All the documents were placed in a binder that was well organized. He also gave me all the documents as PDF files which really came in handy. After my mother passed, I contacted Mr Stein. We went over the trust and he sent a tailor-made to-do list to me so I could get my mom's affairs wrapped up without becoming overwhelmed. He, of course, handled the more difficult tasks. Working with Mr Stein made a tough time for me more easy. I highly recommend Mr Stein and would hire him again.

We had a complicated estate planning need for our disabled daughter, her siblings and our grandchildren. James lead us through the process systematically, had "homework" forms for us to easily submit the info he needed, and provided great advice on setting it up. He was also very helpful in appropriately assigning IRA beneficiaries considering the recent laws limiting their stretch provisions. The end product he delivers is also a class act with everything neatly provided in a binder and a cover letter telling us what we need to do to keep it current. My wife and I feel we got a great deal out of this process, and are comfortable that our children and grandchildren will be receiving the best we can give.

I hired James to create a complete estate plan for my uncle. The plan was relatively straightforward, but involved multiple family members, and then, when researching deeds, James discovered a number of issues with how they had been originally filed, many years ago, which could have created a mess when we eventually try to sell the property. I'm thankful for James' ability to manage this project in an extremely professional manner, his attention to detail, desire to get everything straightened out, and for being flexible with scheduling, when we all had to sign documents on the same date. He had to send multiple packages out to different family members, and everything came with clear instructions and well-marked. All together, he's fantastic, and I'll soon be hiring him to do my estate plan as well.
