I just emailed Google to see if it was possible to give a company 6 stars. They said no, but writing a glowing 5-star review would suffice. So here we are... I'm a medical doctor, in residency, living in one of the most expensive cities in the country. Over a decade ago as an undergraduate, I tried to be as frugal as possible, worked a part-time job while studying, and counted every penny. Still, I needed to take out loans to help pay tuition. One particularly nefarious private loan for $16,000 had an interest rate somewhere just shy of a 'katrillion' dollars. Although I had repaid far more than the original $16,000 to the loan company over the years, due to the magic of compounding and our predatory student loan system, they claimed I still owed them ~$40,000. Over the years I kept in constant contact with that company and sought to revise my monthly payment amount on numerous occasions in order to pay the debt down more aggressively. Despite my best efforts, the principal kept rising and the deceptacon-like interest rates kept transforming. One particularly challenging 90-hour work week things came to a head. I was working in the ICU taking care of dying Covid patients and the student loan company (whose name rhymes with Navient) continued to hammer-call me about my loan payments. The stress of trying to help dying patients while dealing with this unreasonable debt became far too much. So I reached out to Fitzgerald & Campbell for a little financial healing. From the beginning to the end of the process, they were absolutely AMAZING! My case representatives, Monica & Theresa, were wonderful. Very attentive, responsive, and reassuring. Mr. Fitzgerald was gracious with his time, personable, and had a really good sense of humor, which actually helped to lighten what was already a rather stressful situation. Ultimately the firm was able to settle the $40,000 debt for $11,000!!! That's nearly $30,000 of my life I got back. As a resident physician, we work super long hours and per hour we LITERALLY make less than minimum wage. Saving $30,000 and getting Navient off my back has been life-changing. I enjoyed the process so much that I referred my fiancé to their firm as well. She is a nurse who has also been on the front lines throughout the pandemic. The most PAINLESS experience I have ever experienced when it comes to an unfortunate legal circumstance. I was notified of a wage garnishment but did not know what it was for. HR sends me the documents and turns out it’s for an eviction from 5 years prior that I thought was settled. I called 4-5 law firms around the area here and everyone acted like this was something they were not interested in since it was a very high amount in total, and they didn’t think I could settle. I called Fitzgerald & Campbell, and they didn’t know it but behind the phone I was in tears, I was so frustrated. Spoke with Fabiola and she explained the whole thing to me.
