The title says it it all. Within minutes of speaking with Michelle, I knew I found the right lawyer. She knew exactly what to ask, showing not only her experience, but making me realize I had not thought about certain details that were important to my situation. She was detailed, honest, and made me feel comfortable.

I sought guidance on how to proceed on my own behalf. Ms. Reynolds understood how much time would be needed to advise me and sent a list of documents I needed to provide in advance of our 1.5 hour consultation. She was on-time, thoroughly prepared and knowledgeable on every aspect of the situation. After just receiving the letter from EDD stating that they had determined that I was not eligible for benefits because I was terminated for misconduct. I was in a state of shock, fear, and filled with anxiety. In addition, EDD sent a 2nd letter saying that the benefits that I received are now overpayment and tacked on a penalty fee on top of that. On my last day at my job, II was told by my former employer that I was being let go because they wanted to go in a different direction, but then they go and report to EDD that I was terminated for misconduct. Ms. Reynolds served as a great advocate for me when I had to appeal a denial for an unemployment claim. I had a employer who had switched the reasons of my termination, thus having EDD deny my unemployment claim. I retained Michelle’s legal representation services for my 2nd-level appeal hearing before the CUIAB for a UI benefits claim (claimant side). I was originally determined to be disqualified for UI benefits under Section 1256, and appealed this decision to an administrative law judge in pro per. I received an unfavorable ruling and at that point contacted Michelle for representation at the second-level appeal before the CUIAB. Michelle has been a top-notch professional from the start. She gave me a free 1-hour initial phone consultation to understand the particulars of my case. During this consultation she also provided me with objective feedback as to the pros & cons of continuing my appeal and informed me she thought I had a strong case. She was very thorough and communicative throughout the appeals process, and encouraged my collaborative input. Her thorough knowledge of precedent benefit decisions and UI/Labor code became immediately evident upon reading the appellant brief she crafted for me and subsequently filed with the Board. Despite the low chance of the CUIAB overturning an ALJ’s (administrative law judge) decision -- approx. 10-15%, I was informed recently they had done exactly that and ruled in my favor. Had it not been for Michelle’s diligence, legal acumen, and professionalism, I am convinced that my denial after the first-level hearing would have been the end of the road for my claim. I would highly recommend her to anyone, employer or employee, that may be embroiled in a similar legal fiasco.
