Whether you are reading this today because of a Personal Injury or perhaps like our family, a Wrongful Death, you are at a cross roads in your life where you need to make very important decisions. You may even be searching this site to help a friend or a family member who you know is hurting. I want you to know that I felt the same way. It was just over 3 years ago when we lost our father due to a mistake made by an errant driver. At the time, we knew very little about the facts of the case but as the facts grew, I knew that we would need the help of someone who knew their way around such matters from a legal perspective, regardless of how smart I thought I was. Based on the circumstances of the case, I also knew that it would not be easy and if we were to ever find a chance of a just settlement, it wasn’t going to come from any insurance company. I then did what you are doing right now. I went to the internet! Now we all know that the internet is often our default source of information but we also know that it can in turn become sort of “Black Hole” in finding what we need. This is especially true when the matter is more complicated than finding a vender who has what we are looking for and comes with a great return policy. I did have the good fortune however of having a “cross reference” tool and a good network of friends/associates who knew the Law Firm of Maho/Prentice, LLP. A friend/associate had a direct connection with Tyrone Maho so that was of great help. Being a native in the same town where they practice, I then also cross referenced the firm with a retired attorney friend of mine who then gave me the okay. The okay wasn’t for me to hire them but rather it was my process of vetting the firm. Once I had what I needed, I made the decision to conduct my interview with the firm. It would only make sense for you to do the same with any and all candidates of your choosing. As you may have guessed, I did make the decision to hire the firm and it was a decision that I knew right away that I would never regret. What folks need to understand is that often in these matters, you are going to be working very closely with the firm of your choice and it may be for well over a year and in our case more. You need to be comfortable, honest and open in order to get the best out of the team you have selected but I digress. Hiring and working with both Tryone, his staff, and Jessica Phillips who later came on board to become a key and integral factor during the management of our case, was a real blessing. It has to be one of my better decisions as it relates to the dealings and affairs of our deceased father. Tryone was even there to serve as support during the criminal court dealings related to the incident that caused our father’s death. Who does that!!! I know that in general, attorneys often get a bad rap and maybe more true for the Personal Injury attorney. Throughout all my years I have heard and even said many attorney jokes, maybe you have too, but I must honestly say that what they did for me and our family was no joke!
