On a December morning in 2011 an incident occurred with my 14 yr.old daughter over a cell phone altercation. With misleading evidence and false police reports made against me I was arrested and incarcerated. I was also unemployed at the time and in financial dire straits. I felt fear, trapped and defeated with the public defenders assigned to my case. The biggest mistake was taking the public defender’s advice & pleading guilty to a crime I did not commit. I was terrified and felt threatened when I was told I would go to prison for 2 years if I did not agree to their terms. I signed my life away along with future employment opportunities that were promising. For the next 2 ½ years my daughter’s rebellion grew stronger against me. Alas I had no control over her and my life was a living hell. She would leave for weeks at a time without knowing where she was and praying that she was safe. I had to turn to authorities to retrieve her from the streets. There were times that I feared for my life she hated me so much. One morning I woke up and knew that I had no recourse but to return to Dallas in absence of 30 years. I recognized I would have emotional and inspirational support from my family. They were always urging me to return & I did not have second thoughts about it. I knew it would be beneficial for our future. When I contacted my probation officer she informed me that it would be difficult to leave the state without legal representation & I found out Texas would not allow me to return without termination of probation from the State of California. My heart sank. I felt defeated once again. That was the moment I turned to Michael Clayton. From the moment I met Mr. Clayton I felt secure in the decision to choose him to represent me, he gave me hope and reassurance he was going to help me. Perhaps with Mr. Clayton being a family man he knew we had to rescue my daughter by getting her back to Texas where family would make a positive impact on her life. He was informative and clear to questions that I may have had at any time. He always responded to calls when I felt despair. He was always positive and reassuring. My life with my daughter is the complete opposite of what it was. We have a bond that is unbreakable. Our love for eachother is stronger than I ever dreamed. Prayers were fulfilled and continue to overwhelm me at times. I’ve learned to forgive the past in order to move forward. I regret not hiring Mr. Clayton upon my arrest, he would have spared me from physical and emotional turmoil that was uncalled for; but I also found him in one of the most crucial moments in my life and he helped me tremendously. My deepest appreciation and gratitude go out to him. I commend him for his services. 10 years go I was at the darkest and lowest time of my life, i was 14 years old and could possibly be tried as an adult for a past crime. Michael B. I was charged with accepting stolen property. I had a previous strike and I didn’t do it, Michael Clayton believed me. And he wrote ‘Not Guilty’ on my notes, and he knew that I wasn’t guilty and he went about to take it down, because of my priors, and co-defendant I was able to leave the courtroom with a 140 dollar fine, and Mr. Clayton knew what he was doing, obviously. We went to court about 7 times and on the 7th time after hour and half preliminary hearing I left owing 140 dollars. I keep my job as a mechanic, I continue to support my wife and 4 kids and I have Mr. Clayton to thank for giving me the opportunity to move forward and get out of the court room in Santa Barbara, I will highly recommend him if I was in deep trouble like I was.

I found Mr. Clayton's office through Google and the subsequent reviews were outstanding. After speaking with a receptionist over the telephone, I was able to meet Mr. Clayton the same afternoon. When Mr. Clayton introduced himself and welcomed me in to sit down, he asked how I was doing. I replied fine and asked him the same in return. He stated that he was fine as well and that he was just doing things one day at a time and trying to go home knowing that he had helped someone that day. This type of attitude and professionalism is very rare these days pretty much anywhere you go. Mr. Clayton brings reassurance and a caring attitude to those who seek out the help of his office and seems to be a genuinely concerned individual.
