My girlfriend had surgery. She had a private insurance company that approved the surgery, out of network. The Dr and everyone involved agreed to take the lower out of network reimbursement. Months post op, still recovering from a serious surgery, we received a check from the insurance company for her premiums paid totaling about $1,200. With a letter stating they were retroactively cancelling her insurance leaving us owing over $400,000!!!!! They said it was because she wasn't specific when she wrote "lower back pain" as a pre existing condition. We were afraid for our credit, our future, but most of all her health!
