Valerie Ross is the worst attorney I have ever used. She did not keep me informed of court dates, she did not return phone calls, and she repeatedly lied to the court to cover up her incompetence. She spoke to opposing counsel about privileged matters and she is completely useless in court. Her knowledge of the law is astonishingly absent and she has to look up the answer to even the simplest questions she is asked. She could not remember most of the facts in my case and the judges got very irritated with her being unable to respond or having to dig through mounds of paperwork. I don't know how she ever passed the bar exam and I honestly feel her license to practice should be revoked. Hire her at your own risk and if she is appointed to represent you then request another attorney! I gave her one star only because no stars was not an option.

Valerie Ross, would never call me back until the day before a court hearing or the day before evidence was to be submitted to the court on my behalf. I learned that Valerie Ross also missed the deadline to submit my evidence of my behalf and other answers and pleading on time on my CPS case. Valerie Ross, botched up my case and caused me to lose custody of my children in August 2015. Valerie Ross failed to communicate with me in a timely manner and her lack of her profession has caused me a great deal of stress and distress. I have been denied my right to due process and the right to a fair trial, because of Valerie Ross whom has stated to me that she submitted documentary evidence that would clearly clear me of all false allegation that CFS had filed against me, but the county counsel and the judge in August 2015 told her "NO" it’s too late to submit anything on my behalf during the contested hearing, she tried to submit documents on the day of the hearing "She laid to me". I hired Valerie Ross, as my attorney and I was not allowed to say anything while my children father and his court appointed attorney was allowed to speak out of term and other county counsel member's in the court room, while Valerie Ross, set there saying nothing on my behalf at all. I knew at this point something was wrong, but I just prayed that this was all in my mind and that I just couldn't hear or understand the legal jargon, but it wasn't and my life was over. I knew that I had submitted everything to Valerie Ross, all of my evidence I gave to her in May 2015, and after paying Valerie Ross in full, before she would even take my case for $5,000.00 in Cash. The Judge gave her until July 2015 to submit all subpoena witnesses on my behalf, and I had 5 subpoena, but only one showed up. I believed that Valerie Ross would submit documentary evidence that would clearly clear me of all false allegation that CPS had falsely filed against me, in order to take my guardianship children and place them in foster care, and even after the children begged to come home, she ruined my life. On September 2015, I fired Valerie Ross, but it was to late at this point, she appeared to be working with the CPS against me a conspiracy to convict me, so after dismissing her I was ordered to return to court in September 2015, and the Judge, did not and would not allow me to say anything, but she did say “Are you dismissing Valerie Ross, she cut me off not allowing me to state that she has misrepresented me and has been nothing but ineffective assistance of counsel on my behalf since the beginning of this trial. I encourage anyone who has had this same type of experience to report her to the State Bar of California. After reading most of Valerie Ross reviews they sound more and more like the Ineffective Counsel, I hired on such a really important and serious case. My life and my family have been destroyed because of Valerie Ross.

3 years ago I took on Vallery Ross as my divorce attorney she sounded very knowledgeable and very thorough in her job but after 3 years and many promises that where made by both by her paralegal MS Ross herself told me that I would have no problem getting my attorney fees and spousal support. Well finally went to court and needless to say I was very disappointed my attorney was not well prepared she did not object to certain things that she should of said something she just set there and then when the judge asked her a question she was stumbling around trying to provide them with an answer she really was not well prepared for my case it was a simple divorce case with a few wrinkles as would be expected but I never thought I would walk away feeling the way I do about the justice system which right now is not a good opinion it's not because things did not go my way its the old saying you get what you paid and in this case I believe I lost a lot I had an attorney that was not competent in her job and that is my personal opinion I would not recommend her even though she offers you reasonable prices but at the end result they left me hanging so don't let first impressions fool you do your homework well and really think thoroughly before you allow an attorney like this to have your life in our hands you won't be happy and yes shame on me for not doing my homework and finding out that this attorney Valerie Ross does not represent you to the best of her abilities despite what they say I did not get my attorney fees back like they said I would and I receive alimony amount that wouldn't even make the car payment now is that the kind of attorney you want fighting for you I think not I hope whoever reads this we're really put some thought into what I'm saying and will do their homework cuz nobody needs to go through 3 years of back and forth when in reality ever court did their job and our attorneys follow their procedures and did her job as well this shouldn't have taken that long.

Lame, lame, lame!!! Valerie's assistant is who I met with every time. Not once did I get to meet with the actual attorney Valerie. Valerie never knew my facts correctly and she incorrectly said things in front of the Judge. She stumbled with words in court and never represented me in the proper fashion. I ended up paying her for services that I never truly got, which should be correct representation. She doesn't seem to give 2 cents about your case, or for you as a living breathing person. She ended up quitting due to apparent pressure from the opposing attorney, which was more than obvious. That left me hanging to find another attorney in the middle of it all, and just prior to a set court date. It was a complete waste of more than a year's worth of my time and money, only to have to start the whole process up all over again and to find an actual competent lawyer. Running into someone who had a very similar situation happen to them is what brought me to posting a review here. People need to know and need to do their own research and dig deeply. Reflecting back now, I should have thanked her for her time and walked away prior to things becoming such a convoluted mess. This woman needs to turn it in and call it a day. But you know what they say about hind-sight......

I hired Valerie Ross for my son's criminal case to try to get his bail reduced and told her specifically that we needed someone to speak up for him and let the judge know he was still in school and in the weeks that he had already been in jail he had not been given his antidepressants that he had been on for 2 years. When it came time for her to speak to the judge she said nothing!! I called her later that night crying because my son called me now more depressed than ever because he didn't understand why she didn't say anything to help him and was now having suicidal thoughts, so I had called her to see what could be done to help him and her advice was to tell him he must not do that....then she said if I had more money she help me but when I told her I had no more money she needed to go because her dinner was getting cold. At the next court date she still said nothing about his age or his meds, it was a pretrial where the police officer was interviewed, her chance to question the officer as to the fact there was no evidence against my son and that he did not do the things they accused him of, I was there so I know he didn't. She asked the cop 2 questions that were pointless. She also had no driver's license so she was not able to go into the jail to interview my son to even find out what his defense was. She cost us the case and now my son is on probation for the next 2 years and has a record when the case should have been dimissed.

I contacted Valerie Ross because I heard she specialized in juvenile cases. During our over the phone consultation she sounded like she really knew her stuff. Looking back in hindsight I was really desperate and in major need of some legal representation for my loved one. She had great communication, kept in touch, was always available and overall seemed like a great pick. After my family and I paid her the retainer fee she turned into a completely different individual. Her work was lack luster and amateur to say the least. She completely stopped communicating with my family and we never knew what was going on half the time. We always had to call her just to get updates on our situation and she wouldn't answer the phone half the time and when she did she was rude and vague. One of our family members whom we had hired to be represented by her was sitting in jail behind this charge and she barely made any visits or had any contact with them. We were extremely disappointed because we had paid her over $2,000 dollars and she never did a good job. In court she filed an OR motion for my family member and got completely ate up by the D.A. She was tongue tied, her defense was weak, and she was submissive and extremely passive. Of course the OR motion was denied not once, BUT TWICE by 2 different judges. She was ill prepared and disconnected from the case. She was not on her A-game. I started to feel like my family and I had been duped because we clearly couldn't see what we had paid her for because she didn't do jack or get anything accomplished. I honestly would never work with this woman ever again, I know public defenders who are way better than her and she has the audacity to charge thousands of dollars when she isn't worth 2 pennies. We'll never get the money back that we gave her in confidence but that's the risk you take when hiring a lawyer, so if I can stop someone from getting scammed and milked for their hard earned money then it was all worth it. Valerie Ross is a rip off and is more concerned with securing a retainer fee then actually representing her clients because as soon as my family paid her she stopped doing her job.

Valerie knows the Victorville courthouse and the law. She is a highly ethical and brilliant attorney! She is wonderful person who is liberal in her beliefs, and will do everything she is capable of to fight for her clients. She knows what a case is "worth", she knows the best outcome that can be had,and she knows how to get it. She is knowledgeable, reliable and responsive not only to her clients, but to other members of the legal community. She has been practicing law for over 30 years and went to a prestigious law school, not a buy your degree online school (like the DA in our case). The previous posts are not a fair representation of what Valerie does. We spent over 16 months with Valerie. Most people do not understand the politics, and the game play that is involved in fighting a case. After all this time, we know see how fighting a case as complex as ours is a balancing act beyond most peoples comprehension. Valerie knows how to work through this insanely complicated system, and she does a fantastic job of it! She is respected by many members of the legal community, including many Judges. She knows what the judges and the court will allow and what will be thrown out and be a waste of everyone’s time, money and effort. If you want an attorney that has a high level of ethical values, choose Valerie! Family law is her specialty; however she is brilliant with criminal law as well. Our case was a criminal case. It was very complicated, and involved an extensive amount of work. Valerie stuck with us until the end, and returned and acquittal on all charges! She never advised us to take a plea, because she knew that we were right and she stood by us until the end! Valerie does what is right, and she WILL deliver the best possible result for you. We are forever grateful to Valerie for all of her hard work and for believing in us!

After aquiring her services, we assumed she would attend to our questions and concerns during this trying time of legal issues. We, as well had to constantly remind her of issues pertaining to the case. Our calls to her were effortless, as we never seemed to get any answers. She seemed "flaky" at times and had no idea what case or who her client was. We had to remind her! She was given a form to lower bail amount, and that was misplaced and never turned in. Cost us an additional $1500!

Ms. Ross was very unreliable and only made our legal problems worse due to her procrastination. She claims she will take care of our requests and get things done, but weeks or months go by with no action, in spite of constant communication and reminders. Just like the other reviewer, I really wonder what we pay her for.

Obtained her day before court turn in(for a non-violent crime, that she assured us she could get an OR if there was a voluntary turn in), collected money up front 5 min. before entering the court room.. Placed into custody, and family was not informed or any information explained, except to say the defendent was placed into custody, and she would call us. Have had to contact her ourselves, and still she only stated that we would have to wait until the following week when he goes to court, because she hasn't had the chance to find anything out. I would like to know what we paid her for if she has not done anything!
