I called my cousin, a prominent Houston real estate attorney to see if he would handle a 1031 Like Kind Exchange for a client. He gave me Ms. De Martini's name and phone number. She was always available to answer my questions, and she made VERY sure we crossed all of the Ts and dotted the Is. A month after doing a 1031 Exchange with Ms. De Martini, I took a tax course from a very famous New York tax attorney. When he went over the mechanics of a 1031 Like Kind Exchange, he made a mistake in his procedure. I would have never caught his mistake, had I not questioned Ms. De Martini and had her answer on this particular procedure. I have several cousins that are attorneys and I am a CPA.
