Over the course of last spring and summer, our family got the royal treatment with Hartney Law. Martha and her staff are incredibly knowledgeable about estate planning and setting up Living Wills and Trusts. Now we feel confident that our family is taken care of; that really gives us peace of mind. The piece of the planning that really served as a cherry on top of the sundae was the Illumination Interview in which we shared important oral history about our families. At first, the price seems a bit steep to take care of this, but in the end it's very worth it to ensure that our assets will be taken care of in the event of something happening to one of us.

Jennifer Watkins was a huge resource to me from the very first time we spoke on the phone. Her knowledge and experience handling DUI cases specifically in Colorado became apparent immediately. As someone who had never had a DUI before, facing the increasingly severe court system seemed nearly impossible. However, Jennifer worked with me to navigate the legal landscape and guided me through the entire process. Hiring Jennifer Watkins was one of the best decisions I made after I got my DUI. She has been working in the Boulder/surrounding areas for almost 20 years, and she knows all of the specific laws and about who works those districts. She is dedicated, hard-working, and dependable. She was always straight-forward with me, and her advice comes from years of experience. With her advice, I requested a DMV hearing and that the arresting officer be present. When the officer failed to show up, I wont that hearing automatically. That means I got to keep my license when I should have lost it. Then, when we got a DA who was trying to give me harsh penalties (30 days in jail), she postponed the court date, which eventually led to a new DA taking over my case. She pushed the new DA until he agreed to drop the charges of DUI to DWAI, and drop the charges of Reckless Driving to Weaving. This greatly reduced the amount of fine, alcohol classes, probation, and community service that I would be court mandated. Also, under her guidance, I was able to persuade the judge not to sentence me to jail. Lastly, getting the Reckless Driving bumped down to Weaving kept the amount of points on my license under 12, which means that I get to keep my license and the right to drive. She was able to save my license twice, keep me out of jail, and minimize the penalties that I was served. To anyone considering hiring her, I strongly recommend that you do, because not only will she fight for you, she is a genuinely good person who enjoys helping people who make a mistake.

I was pulled over for driving aggressively. Ok, aggressively is an understatement. Jennifer helped get the charges reduced with minimal penalties, which was fantastic. She's very honest, and was able to help me calm down a bit too, which isn't easy. If I'm ever in need again (hope not) I'm calling her!

Wendi takes something that could be stressful and emotional and turns it into an easy process that gives us peace of mind. Everything is very organized and simple to follow. Receiving an asset spreadsheet with specific instructions on how to retitle everything into our trust was a huge help, and being able to videotape ourselves at this point in time was a really neat extra touch.
