Marc loves what he does and truly cares about his clients which makes the entire estate planning process enjoyable. His knowledge and sincere desire to educate his clients gave us confidence we were making the best decisions. He is very organized and thorough. He carefully explains things in person then provides a binder that is well organized and includes clear explanations for each section. We were very pleased with the entire experience.

Over the years, my wife and I had seriously neglected our current trust put in place 21 years earlier and knew we needed a major update. We found Marc using google search. My wife and I hired Mr. Carlson to prepare our family trust. We spent quite a long time with him going over the details of the trust, explaining our blended family situation, etc. He raised some excellent points about what was needed and why, in terms of ensuring that our beneficiaries would not have any major difficulties in the event of our demise. He was charming and friendly. His rate was very reasonable. He did a very good job of explaining why he was the best choice for the task at hand, and had lots of marketing materials to back up his claims. The book he gave us was massive and comprehensive. When we left the office, ha asked us to please rate him - and he said not to rate him unless we were going to give him 5 stars because he didn't want to ruin his perfect record. In my opinion his record shouldn't be perfect. When we got home and began to look more closely at the documentation, we realized that our personal family information was seriously garbled. My kids were attributed to my wife, my wife's were attributed to me, grandkids were mislabeled, names were misspelled - I've spent hours correcting mistakes that shouldn't have been made. My concern is that it now appears that the only actual work he had to do was to get the personal information correct. The rest of the documentation was cookie-cutter based on Colorado and Federal tax law. If there were this many mistakes on the personal side of things, how am I to know that the other information is correct? I am left wondering if I now have to hire another attorney to review the entire document for accuracy. It seems to me that one of the most important attributes of a good attorney is attention to detail. Mr. Carlson did not, in our case, get the details right.

Marc is a colleague of mine here in Longmont and I sure am happy to know him. Anyone I come across in need of estate planning, I send his way - and I do so with the confidence that Marc will take utmost care. If you need a will, a trust, or anything else along those lines, Marc's your guy. He's personable, trust-worthy, competent, and fairly priced ... everything you want in an attorney.

Excellent Experience from Beginning to End 5.0 stars Posted by Maureen March 23, 2017 Mr. Carlson is located about 45 minutes from our home, but my husband and I decided to hire him, rather than a local attorney, after reading his reviews on AVVO and meeting him in person. Mr. Carlson clearly explains the differences between wills and trusts, and, after we made our decisions, documents were prepared within one week for our signatures. He establishes follow up meetings, if desired, and he provides timely responses to our questions. We found his fees quite reasonable. We now have legal documents which will protect our interests and wishes in the event of incapacity, last illness, or death. While these are never easy subjects to consider or discuss, Mr. Carlson made the process as comfortable as it could possibly be. Mr. Carlson presents these materials in a large binder which clearly annotates the documents needed for various events. The binder also contains numerous, helpful, articles and summaries for us as well as our successor trustee. I'm sure the ease of finding necessary information during future stressful times will help us (and our successor) immeasurably. We highly recommend Mr. Carlson.

It has been a distinct pleasure to work with Marc Carlson. At our initial meeting, Marc’s clear explanation of the differences between wills and trusts allowed us to make the decision that a Revocable Living Trust was the appropriate legal vehicle for our estate planning. With his direction, we were able to construct a trust that will provide for our needs as we age or become incapacitated and that will allow us to pass our estate on to our children and grandchild without the encumbrance of the courts or probate. Because of Marc’s professional attitude and extreme organization, we would recommend him without reservation to others seeking legal advice regarding estate planning.
