I went through a contentious divorce in 2008 followed by ongoing custody issues in 2012. During this time I was accused of Domestic Violence and Child Abuse which did cause emotional and financial hardship but did not result in a conviction. More recently my daughter is marrying into a family that hunts and others in my network of friends target practice at firing ranges. Until now gun rights were not a priority to me and now that they are I was concerned about the status of my rights and stepping afoul of the law if I tried to purchase a firearm. I called the Colorado Legal Defense Group and spoke to Megan Majewski. She listened to my concerns and my history. She didnt judge or critcize me. She asked questions and treated me with respect. I was a bit nervous thinking someone might consider me foolish not knowing my status or judge me out of hand for my history. As a single father of pre thru adolescent girls it has happened before. She said she consulted with her peers and did a preliminary peek at my records and found nothing to concern her about ny second anendment rights. She also said if I ran into any issues to call them back and they would be happy to offer advice and services if necessary. Sometimes we feel foolish asking for help concerning things we just dont know about. Ms. Majewski was kind, patient and I feel went the extra distance most people just dont do and I am very grateful. They treated me as a person with respect and dignity and went beyond simply screening me as a potential client. In this age of impersonal interactions I am truly grateful to find an organization that treats people as unique individuals with intrinsic value.
