On October 17, 2019, I was hit by a truck while riding my bike home. I was rushed to the ER, given a number of tests, and by the end of the night was told I was lucky to be alive. The next morning started by researching different attorneys in order to find the best match for me and my case. I went to a couple law firms and found nothing seemed like the right fit. I wanted someone that felt like family, someone that could understand how hard this crash was and would continue to be. Being an athlete and having my body taken away for the next year due to 4 pending surgeries brought about by the crash also made me want someone that is or was an athlete themselves. That is when I found the VanMeveren Law group. The law group houses accomplished lawyers in their field, but were also triathletes and collegiate athletes. I specifically worked with Karl Hager, but felt as if I had the entire team every day. With 1 hip surgery, 3 wrist surgeries, and countless bouts of helplessness, I believe it is appropriate to classify this as a life changing event. Being able to be on the other side of the incident, I feel blessed to have worked with Karl and the VanMeveren Law Group. He was always available for a call, calmed me down/cheered me up on my darkest days, was punctual, reliable, and ultimately proved that their team was now my family. That I could trust them to do their work so that I could find any sense of normalcy in an event that only provided uncertainty. From the day I met Karl and the VanMeveren Law group, I felt as if I found my big brother that was going to take care of all the problems. A big brother that reassured me, time and time again, that he has it taken care of. That I can rest and navigate to the next chapter of my life.

Within a couple of days after my husband was seriously injured when hit by a car while riding his bicycle, the other party’s insurance company was calling for information and signatures while acting concerned about his condition.
