I retained Havilah Bruno Lilly for a traffic case in Weld County. I needed an attorney familiar with the Weld County District Attorney’s Office (“D.A.”) and Weld County Court. After reading about Havilah Bruno Lilly of Bruno Lilly Legal PLLC, and Havilah’s experience in Weld County, I contacted Havilah about my case, and Havilah agreed to represent me. Over the next several months, Havilah negotiated with the D.A., appeared at court hearings, and requested discovery from the prosecution. Ultimately, Havilah succeeded in negotiating with the D.A. for dismissal of my case, which was a tremendous outcome. Havilah maintained a calm, consistent demeanor throughout the case. She never overpromised, and ever pressured me to accept a plea offer or take any other course of action. Havilah’s patience and persistence were critical in reaching the right resolution for my case. Havilah demonstrated strong integrity and character in every phase of my case. Indeed, she even returned a remaining balance of my retainer, when I expected to have no remainder given the reasonableness of her fee. Based on my experience, I would recommend Havilah as an attorney for anyone who needs help with a matter in or around Weld County. My case stemmed from a car accident on I-25. After the accident, a Colorado State Patrol (“CSP”) trooper gave me a citation and summons for “careless driving” without explanation; indeed, without interviewing me or my passenger about the accident. When I appeared for the initial court hearing, a Weld County prosecutor met with me for “plea negotiations.” Oddly, that prosecutor was not actually assigned to my case, and she was unfamiliar with the facts and issues. Nonetheless, the prosecutor asked me to plead guilty to a charge of “fictitious plates,” a charge that did not actually occur and did not relate to the facts. After I declined that plea offer, that prosecutor gave me the email address of the prosecutor actually assigned to the case, instructing me to email him documents showing that my insurance coverage was sufficient to cover any actual damages stemming from the accident. I sent such an email to the assigned prosecutor, and followed up several weeks later, but the prosecutor never responded. Havilah was familiar with the D.A.’s office and prosecutor, such that she could establish communication and garner necessary attention for my case.
