I would not recommend this lawyer for divorces where the husband has been cheating on the wife and the wife needs to defend herself against the husband. Mr. Deasy is a "daddy" lawyer perhaps because the issue draws too close to his past for him. He overcharged my daughter for his services and that of his associates and their performance before the court was miserable. Presents a good game but doesn't follow through.

Mr. Deasy and his staff provided outstanding counsel through an incredibly high conflict relocation case wherein my ex husband had petitioned to move with our three minor children out of state. Through a difficult and arduous trial process, he remained calm and confident despite the argumentative and bullying tactics of the other lawyer. Mr. Deasy was recommended to me by a friend who practices law in Connecticut, and the national recommendation was well and truly deserved. I would suggest him and his firm to anyone who is in need of a family law attorney - he is the best I've seen.

Dan Deasy is a tremendous lawyer. He took my case all the way to the courtroom (although we tried and tried to settle) and we could not have received a better outcome -- even in a tough family law case. I found Dan through a friend who is a Judge -- he told me Dan was the best courtroom lawyer he knew. That was absolutely true! The firm is so supportive through tough times. My heartfelt thanks to the entire team!

Mr. Deasy agreed to meet with me for a divorce case, he charged $250 for one hour, then he promised to review all my documents for $500. I sent him the documents within a couple days, and didn't hear from him. After trying to email him for a few weeks, I called his office, and he emailed back apologizing, saying my emails went to the junk mail folder. This was fine enough, although a bit unprofessional for a firm of this nature. He promised to get me a review by the end of the week, and gave me his cell phone number to call if I didn't hear back. I didn't hear back, so I called. And didn't hear back again, so I called again. And texted. And emailed. And called the office and left a message with a person. This went on for weeks, it was really strange. Either he was being passive in response, like trying to get rid of me, or absolutely unprofessionally unresponsive. It would have been nice if he replied saying he was busy, or he can't help, but he didn't. After another 6 weeks of this, a judge friend of mine put a bug out, through the community. This I assume was why he finally contacted me, although he had a junior lawyer contact me. Basically this lawyer is absolutely unresponsive. I regret having given him any money, and worse, I waited weeks while under great stress from my case. I could have found another lawyer in the meantime, but the way he responded ("I am soooo sorry") kept me hanging on. Sorry Mr Deasy for this accurate review.

I consulted with Dan about a difficult family matter regarding my daughter who is living in another state. I just needed to get an opinion about what had already transpired and what my options were moving forward. Dan knew I wasn't going to hire retain him because my case was in a different state but he thoroughly reviewed the long history of my case and counseled me on what I should expect and what I could realistically do to improve my position. He was compassionate and showed the kind of fire for seeking justice that had been absent from the previous attorneys who I had been represented by when the case still meant something and I still had a chance to keep my daughter in Colorado. It was supposed to be a free 30 minute consultation and it ended up being over an hour and a half. The fee I was asked to pay was a third of what Dan's normal rate. Don't expect to be given the kind of deal I was given because it was understood this was a one-time deal due to the circumstances of my case and the nature of my visit but Dan is truly the real deal.

When I finally made the decision to leave my husband of 13 years, I was so worried about the impact on my six and eight year old boys. I talked to friends and co-workers and it seemed like everyone had a story about a divorce gone bad. I put together a list of attorneys to interview and was halfway through the list when I called Dan Deasy.
My search stopped there.
Dan took the time to explain the process to me, from the parenting class I had to take to what a permanent orders hearing could look like. We discussed alimony, child support and how the credit cards would be managed. We talked about the house and retirement accounts and taxes and everything to do with money.
Of course, we spent more time than anything talking about the kids. Dan asked me about my goals and taught me what to expect. From that first meeting to mediation five months later when we resolved the entire case, Dan fought for me and the boys every step of the way. I never had to wonder what was going on with my case. Dan (and the whole office) just kept me informed.
SInce we wrapped things up, my boys are doing well and I am on my feet. Dan has this saying of "Bet on yourself." I have done just that and I have him to thank!

My ex tormented me for years due to his alcohol abuse and all of the things that came with it -- temper, screaming, profanity, etc. Dan and his firm protected me and my children from the day I first walked into his office. I never felt like just another client with the law firm. I could tell everyone cared about my welfare and wanted to make sure my kids and I were safe.
We had two hearings along the way. Each time, Dan explained every possibility and prepared me as best he good (my own nerves sometimes got in the way!). We won each hearing and I have to say it was probably because my ex's attorney had no chance. Dan is incredible in the courtroom and knows exactly what matters to the Judge.
My case is over now and I have Dan to thank for making sure my children's father is trying to maintain sober living. Maybe it's his experience as a prosecutor or maybe it's because he has worked for victims for more than 20 years, but I just cannot imagine how things could have turned out if Dan was not my lawyer. He really is a star!

In 2012, I started down a road that promised to be incredibly difficult and emotional. I was in a battle against my ex and our children were at the center of the dispute. I sat down with Dan and others in his firm and knew from the word go, I was in the right place. Dan helped me develop a great game plan for action, but we knew it would be rocky.
We started the process by filing the right sort of paperwork and then attending hearings with the Judge. It was clear the first time I heard Dan speak in court that he was much more than just a superb strategist -- he clearly had command of the courtroom. I knew Dan has done a lot of teaching across the country, instructing young attorneys how to be litigators, and I could see why as he is simply outstanding in court. He kept me up to date at every turn and made sure I understood why the process took the turns it did. Dan always let me know he did not want me lying awake at night wondering what was going on in my case . . . and I never did!
We won, and won and won. The relationship I had with my children was turned completely around and I have Dan and his firm to thank. I cannot even imagine how this would have turned out without him and the entire Ammarell Deasy crew. They have to be one of Denver's best family law groups. I will never be able to thank Dan enough!

So in January of 2015, I came to Dan for help. regarding my kids. Their father is an abusive man who has substance addiction problems. I cared about one thing -- a parenting plan that protected by children. Dan was simply awesome. He pushed hard for orders that would keep my children out of harm's way and he was able to work out an agreement that has left my children safe every night. I don't know how he did it! I think his experience as a prosecutor really helped him to understand how to deal with my ex. I could not be more satisfied. If you want your kids protected, Dan can get that done!

"If you are reading these reviews during an incredibly difficult time in your life, wondering which attorney to choose and who would be best, then you need to know this – you’ve come to the right place. I give Dan and Laura the highest possible recommendation. They are both thoroughly knowledgeable about the law, the courts, and your rights, and will help you navigate through the minefield of divorce. Dan was my primary attorney, and after the first interview I knew I could finally breathe more easily and let him do his job. And he does his job very, very well – his skills in the courtroom are well-known and well-respected, he is equally proficient in negotiation, and I can attest to both. Laura was involved with my case as well, and she is an excellent advocate, with practical advice and thorough knowledge of the law. My divorce was very difficult for me, but they were always competent, reassuring, and fully up to the challenge. If you choose them, you are absolutely in good hands!

In 2013, I found Dan (and Laura) to help with my divorce case. The representation was unbelievable! Dan was an extraordinarily hard worker and never left me wondering what was gong on with my case. He worked tirelessly to try and settle the case and when that didn't work, Dan proceeded to absolutely annihilate the other attorney at court (who had been a bully since day one). No one enjoys going through a divorce, but if you have to do it, I cannot imagine a better place for your case to be handled.

Here is the multitude of issues I had with this attorney and firm...
Double-billing error on my original visit. Not a huge deal except multiple emails to the firm staff over nearly two months with zero response to my emails.
When my updated disclosure docs were submitted I asked to be emailed me to let me know once they had been filed and never received any such email confirmation. Given the particular issues around my case, it was especially critical they got filed in a timely way and I wanted the peace of mind to know that had been done.
My ex-wife had served me with discovery shortly before I engaged the firm. A key issue was the timing around when I need to respond and the deadline for me to file my discovery on her if it came to that. Firm staff couldn't give me a clear answer around those deadlines and even gave me one answer only to subsequently call me back later and change it.
Called in at one point with a time sensitive issue and was told I would get a call back either from Dan or, if he couldn't talk briefly by phone that day, then by your staff to set up a time for the next day. Never got a call from anyone.
A time was set for a meeting with Mr. Deasy by the receptionist that she said she thought would work and that she would call me if for some reason it would not. I called on my way to that meeting and she told me that she forgot to call to tell me he couldn't meet with me.
On top of this, after telling me he couldn't meet me, I asked her if she could provide me some options for a reschedule of the meeting on another day and she said she could not. I asked her why not and she said she needed to speak with him before scheduling anything. I asked her to please obtain several dates/times in the future that would work for a 30 minute meeting (my schedule is very busy as well) and she said she "would try" and see if she can "squeeze me in between other appointments". Needless to say I was even more frustrated as I felt like I was asking for a favor just to get a darn meeting with my attorney. Guess what... I, again, never got a call back.
My email terminating my relationship with the firm and asking the simple question of how long I should anticipate for my retainer refund which goes unanswered and which I had to follow up on more than once to simply get an acknowledgement of receipt.
