I had two different law firms prior to coming to Heckenback Law. My case was a complete mess, and I had about lost all faith that there was anything I could do in the courts to get things to change. Dave and Ian turned my case around, albeit over a few years, starting with winning an appeal that had a very low chance of success. They then systematically continued to get small victories of facts and truth over deception and fraud. Eventually things flipped and I was able to turn everything around, for the sake of the kids and their futures as much as my own. My biggest regret with hiring them is that I didn’t do it from the start of my case.

I would like to take a moment to tell the world how AMAZING Nicole Funchess of the Dave Heckenbach Law Firm is. I am an Uber driver and I have completed 25,000 trips. I was recently involved in a car accident and I was charged with careless driving, failure to provide insurance info along with failure to report the accident to police. After meeting with Nicole recently and providing video/photo evidence of my own Nicole quickly sprung into action and did not let up until my entire case was dismissed by the District Attorney here in Denver today. After arriving in court this morning Nicole explained to me that the DA on my case had offered a plea that would end the case today but would leave a negative impact on my driving record. My driving record has been perfect for the past 25 years or so and must remain good in order to continue driving for Uber. After going back and forth with the DA a couple of times and not feeling satisfied I asked Nicole to Speak with the DA one more time. Rather than telling me that I was nuts she went right back MR DA and then she came back with the biggest surprise ever and she informed that the DA decided to completely dismiss my case which was actually the goal.I was thrilled to get such an outcome. I will continue to drive for Uber. Thank you Nicole for not giving up. I cannot thank Nicole and the Heckenbach law firm enough for all their hard work and dedication. Run from Heckenbach Law. Run from Nicole Funchess. Run from David Heckenbach. They represent my x on the matter. But that is not the reason for this. I have used attorneys in business many times, however: NEVER have I had to explain the Court's written and verbal communication to an attorney; NEVER have I seen an attorney ignore a court's verbal and written communication; NEVER have I had to explain the one sentence email sent by an attorney back to her and say my response addresses your issue; NEVER have I had to ask an attorney "Do you understand spoken and written English?"; NEVER have I had to ask an attorney for a callback over 10 times and not get one; NEVER have I wondered why an attorney would knowingly allow her client to violate a court injunction; NEVER have I had to plead for an adult conversation from an attorney and tell them I'll even settle for a teenage level conversation; NEVER have I had an attorney acknowledge an act committed by her client (via email) and then deny ever acknowledging that same act days later; NEVER have I had to scratch my head and wonder why an attorney would send an email dripping with sarcasm; Never have I had to ask how may attorneys are needed to file motions (3 attorneys and 1 paralegal at Heckenbach Law); NEVER have I had to ask for professionalism from an attorney; NEVER have I had to ask for the managing partner/co counsel to respond and get nothing back; NEVER have I wondered, is this a real attorney conversation or someone prepping for a high school mock trial competition?; NEVER have I had to check the Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct for Attorneys; NEVER have I had to open an investigation with the Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel for violations of the Colorado Rules of Professional Conduct for Attorneys! Until my interaction with Nicole Funchess and Heckenbach Law. But, I have had to do all of the above. This firm's only interest is in racking up billable hours. It boggles my mind that I have to remind the attorney that my response/questions are in simple English. Only to have her answer a different question or say I did not answer her question. Nicole has 15 months of experience in Family Law (which several attorneys have said is not taught in law school) and David Heckenbach does not seem to nor want to provide the mentorship and guidance that is needed. But, I'm sure he will rise to the occasion when he wants to collect on the inflated invoice. If David responds - he may say this is sour grapes. However, this is also the feedback I received from an attorney that has dealt with Nicole Funchess. Nor are my concerns about the case - but about the absence of professionalism, the absence of decorum , the absence of oversight/mentorship and the absence of an understanding of written and verbal communication. Honestly, some of my interactions with this firm would be perfect viral memes. Kafka would have a field day seeing these emails. It's unbelievable. Billing for these interactions is outright thievery under the guise of legal representation. Stay-tuned. I'll post updates

It seems the only thing they were interested in was making sure my bill was as expensive as possible. Nothing was accomplished with this firm.

Valerie Malara was my attorney. She had a whole team that helped with my case and they were all great. I can never thank them enough how hard they worked and did their job right by helping me and my children in our case. Hands-down this is the best attorney team I’ve ever worked with and I will continue to work with in the future if I ever needed them. How hard they worked and was patient with me and explained every detail from the beginning to the end and had the best interest for me and my children. Heckenbach Malara has the best team of lawyers anyone could possibly have. I had a very unique situation and didn’t know how to navigate a complex court case.
