After speaking with two other law firms, we decided to hire Eric Menhart, Esq. to represent us when dealing with a copyright infringement lawsuit. We hired him because he was by far the most experienced attorney we talked to in dealing with this type of legal issue, and found him very easy to relate to. He was very professional and responded promptly to all our questions either via email or by phone. He dealt with all the issues involved in our case, and clearly explained our options at each new development during the negotiation process, which took about 2 months to resolve. We are very satisfied with his representation and the outcome of the case.

I was involved in a copyright infringement case due to downloads using BitTorrent. I received a notice from my ISP that my IP address was was being subpoenaed by a lawyer for a video production company. The company wanted my ISP to provide them my name, address, and telephone number due to the downloading of copyrighted material. Researching DC attorneys I saw Eric Menhart had worked as a local attorney for some of the west coast firms fighting cases like mine. I contacted Eric, he explained my options, how cases like this can go, and his reasonable fee structure. After which I hired Eric to help me deal with this matter. The outcome was favorable given the circumstances. I did not have to disclose any personal information and we were able to reach a settlement I would highly recommend Eric Menhart for any BitTorrent copyright cases.

I recently received a threat to sue regarding a copyright infringement allegation. When I reached out to Mr. Menhart by phone, he was very amiable and understanding of my situation. Additionally, his firm, CyberLaw, provides free initial consultations. He supplied me an informative list of options regarding my case (settle or fight) and explained the consequences of each option chosen in a very clear manner. Despite my apprehension to stick by an option, he was very patient with me and did not seem at once annoyed by my persistence to ask questions. Overall, he was very efficient with the services that he provided to me and I would definitely recommend him for anyone who is looking for an attorney with an internet/technology background.

Eric was great to work with. I am starting a new business and was in need of some legal assistance regarding copyright laws. I am from Madison, WI and searched for copyright lawyers in my area before finding CyberLaw PC online. I must have contacted 12 or 15 competent copyright attorneys before deciding on Eric. He was smart, helpful and personable. He quoted me a fair price, based on proposals from other entities, and I had him move forward with the project. He nearly doubled his expected time on the project, due to it's complexity, and didn't charge me a dime extra! If any problems arise in the future, Eric, undoubtedly will be the first and only lawyer I will call.

We became involved in a copyright infringement case recently when a guest in our home was using our WIFI to download and share movies using bit torrent software. We had received a notice from our ISP provider that they were being subpoenaed by a video production company to provide our name, address and telephone number due to the illegal downloading and sharing of copyright material. After conferring with a local lawyer, they were able to direct us to Eric Menhart and his firm. Our local attorney had a discussion with Eric and recommended that we speak with him. We did and hired Eric shortly thereafter. The outcome was extremely favorable to us, such that we did not have to disclose our personal information and the settlement that he was able to negotiate was less than what was previously discussed. I would highly recommend Mr. Menhart for this type of case.

Last month I was faced with a challenging situation where I had to seek attorney’s help, one whose area of expertise includes cyber law. The first thing I did was conducting a search on the internet. At the end of the day, I had a list of 10 lawyers, all seemed fit. But one of them, Eric Menhart, stood out because of his website’s name, www.cyberlaw.pro, which was apparently relevant to what I was looking for. I then read some customers’ reviews that were all positive. I picked up the phone and called his office. I am a person who has dealt with attorneys before, and knows that many of them would not give a free consultation through the phone. After a few minutes of my conversation with Mr. Menhart, a strange feeling crept to me. Mr. Menhart’s keenness and honesty made me feel as if I was talking to my best friend or a family member who cares about me, me only. He listened to me with patience, a thing that I appreciate it, because I tend to talk in details and ask a lot of questions. He gave me options and laid out scenarios. But he surprised me again when he recommended to me that I take the easiest and least expensive of them, which meant he was not dealing with my business as a profiting undertaking. Instead he was being professional and honest. We talked for more than 10 minutes, again all free of charge. I ended up hiring him to represent me on the matter in hand. As he predicted we had an excellent result within few days. While we worked together on the case, he was very accessible through emails, my favorite way of communication. He was very prompt and comprehensive in his replies to me. His office showed that they can render a job that exceeds expectations, along with positive outcome, in my case. But more importantly they do it with a human touch that many of big law offices in Washington, D.C., area and New York lack. Therefore, I recommend Mr. Menhart for anyone who needs assistance with cases related to U.S. internet laws.

A competitor used a variation of our domain name to redirect traffic to their competing open-source product site. When a friendly e-mail failed to dissuade the person from using the domain in bad faith we turned to the Internet to search for a lawyer with experience in domain disputes. The first few lawyers we contacted were not interested in helping presumably because we are an no-profit open-source project. We knew Eric Menhart at CyberPro was the right lawyer when he understood the computer geek speak of open-source, domain disputes, and UDRP. He volunteered a reduced-fee structure recognizing our contribution to the open-source community and suggested a cease & desist approach rather than formal arbitration. His C & D approach worked and the competitor transferred ownership of the domain to us without the need for arbitration all within a few weeks. Eric conducted all these matters professionally, efficiently, and conveniently using e-mail and PDF for communications.
