If you are looking for a top caliber lawyer that is reasonable and understands her clients' needs, then Ms. Baker should be your top choice. I recently worked with Ms. Baker in the drafting, negotiation and execution of a pre-marital agreement; a situation that is often very difficult to navigate. She was responsive, extremely thorough and her zealous advocacy always took in to consideration the outcomes I desired. As a fellow lawyer, I have experienced many situations in which zealous advocacy has served only to further frustrate relations and outcomes for clients. And while zealous advocacy is often intended to achieve the best result for the respective client, it can have the opposite effect and drive parties further apart. Ms. Baker took the time to understand what I wanted and the results I sought to achieve. She was measured in her approach, and while her counsel always contemplated a best case scenario for me, it was balanced with an understanding of the outcomes I communicated to her I sought to achieve, irrespective of whether those outcomes were most advantageous to me. Ms. Baker is high caliber client-centric lawyer and an expert in this practice area. I would recommend her to anyone needing legal services in this space.

I had the pleasure of working with Emily on a recent separation, and I believe that she got the best and the most realistic settlement for me. She is an excellent communicator, knowledgeable about the specific laws, and will fight for what you deserve until the end. She also has worked in the DC area for a long time, so it helps that she has contacts within the legal system and outside which she can leverage to get the best results.

First off, Emily is compassionate and easy to work with. She is both detail-oriented and focused on the big picture. I appreciated that she remembered details about my case, my priorities, and my goals. She was able to move my case along when there were lags. Emily recommended a great mediator who worked with me and my ex to draft a parenting plan. She promptly responded to my calls and emails. Finally, her knowledge and experience was evident in her advice and drafting of legal documents.

Emily was sensitive to my financial situation so initially suggested using a mediator, with her guidance. When this approach failed, she recommended a judicial mediator, specifically one that had a firmer approach, which is what I needed when working with my ex-husband.

Emily was patient, friendly, a good listener, and provided great advice. She helped me get through a divorce settlement very quickly (signed within about 2 months from when we started working together) and helped me navigate the whole process at a reasonable rate. I really appreciated working with Emily. My personal path to finalizing my divorce was rather long (years!), and my circumstances were such that I worked with more than one attorney along the way. Thus, I actually have some basis for comparison of attorney styles and approaches. In my own decision-making style I favor gathering data and information - I want to understand my options, the process, and the strategy - but I’m also mindful that this takes time and costs money and I want to be efficient. In Emily I found someone who directly, succinctly, and very clearly answered my questions and provided the information I needed. She explained options and offered her expert opinion in a very straightforward way. I greatly appreciated her style and approach. Communicating with her was extremely easy and she was always very responsive by email, phone, and zoom. My divorce process went the mediation route and it got a bit tense at times with one session extending into the evening. But Emily stayed focused, kept me focused, and she has a sense of humor that helped me stay calm and think clearly. Further, it was clear that Emily was thinking through the angles and running the numbers and thinking strategically. Emily got me through the completion of my divorce, which had been dragging on for a very long time.

I needed someone to walk me thru custody law and provide solid advice, and Emily was perfect. She took time to explain facts, how the court views different matters, and why she was recommending a specific course of action. She drove for a resolution when oppsosing cousel dragged their feet. And she remained calm and cool when opposing counsel aimed some low blows. I appreciated having her on my side. It greatly reduced my anxiety. I'll be using her for all custody matters in the future.

Obviously anyone going through a divorce needs a lawyer who is effective at their job, which Emily was, but considering that it's also likely to be an unpleasant experience no matter how amicable, it helps to genuinely like your lawyer, too, and I really liked Emily. She explained things clearly at each step, was open to all of my questions, and was empathetic about the experiences I'd had prior to separation and the nonsense my ex attempted during the divorce. And she made I received what was fair and legally required in a settlement and was not what my ex would have agreed to had I not hired her. A true advocate in all the ways.

I was referred by someone who had worked with Emily in the past and I am forever grateful for the recommendation. Emily was very attentive throughout my long and emotional divorce process. She was prompt and professional with her responsiveness, keeping me updated with every change.
