My experience with Washington Law Firm, PLLC was deeply frustrating and disappointing. While the firm initially appeared committed to my case, their conduct over time revealed significant shortcomings. Here are the key issues: 1. Dismissive and Unprofessional Conduct: Throughout the engagement, I experienced dismissive and disrespectful behavior from the firm. This culminated in a final call with Melissa regarding signing a new retainer for litigation. During this call, I expressed concerns about their approach, particularly since I would be responsible for litigation costs regardless of the case’s outcome. I also questioned their prior success with similar cases and reiterated my desire to focus solely on the EEOC process for the time being, especially given the $10,000 I already owed from an unsuccessful mediation. Melissa was extremely rude, constantly interrupting me, and even attempted to end the call prematurely by passing me off to another attorney, Ivey. When I asked to finish speaking, her dismissive tone and lack of professionalism led me to terminate the relationship immediately, stating that I found her conduct unacceptable. 2. Compressed Timelines and Poor Communication: The timeline for my EEOC rebuttal was rushed unnecessarily. Despite sharing detailed updates and new evidence, the firm failed to incorporate these critical points, relying only on outdated information from earlier conversations. I was given just 48 hours to review the draft, which was stressful and inadequate, especially given the complexity of the matter. 3. Lack of Transparency in Mediation Costs: The firm arranged a mediator for our first session without disclosing the $10,000 cost upfront. I was shocked to receive the invoice after the fact, and had I known about the fee beforehand, I would have reconsidered mediation, particularly since my employer was not mediating in good faith. Even Melissa later admitted the employer may have been trying to gauge our evidence rather than mediate sincerely. This lack of transparency felt deceptive and left me financially burdened for an unnecessary process. 4. Defensive and Dismissive Post-Disengagement Conduct: After I disengaged, I received multiple emails asserting the firm’s lien on my case, including a notification sent to my employer (the opposing party). While I understand liens are standard practice, notifying opposing counsel felt inappropriate and potentially harmful to my ongoing case. Instead of addressing my concerns constructively, their communications became increasingly defensive and dismissive, focusing solely on asserting their entitlement to payment. 5. Failure to Provide Adequate Representation: When I expressed concerns about the quality of representation—citing dismissiveness, lack of transparency, and unresponsiveness—the firm failed to address these issues constructively. Instead, they prioritized defending their internal processes and dismissing my feedback, further eroding trust in their ability to advocate for me effectively. In conclusion, my experience with Washington Law Firm, PLLC was characterized by poor communication, unprofessionalism, and a lack of transparency. Their conduct during critical moments, including the handling of the EEOC rebuttal and mediation, left me feeling unsupported and undervalued as a client. I cannot recommend this firm to anyone seeking reliable or respectful legal representation.
