Being forced into an unwanted divorce situation, I asked our business attorney's for the best recommendation they could give me (Lasher Firm in Seattle) and it was Mr. James Shipman. I can't say enough on how excellent Mr. Shipman has been as well as his staff in handling me as well as the divorce situation. He has been kind and understanding as well as very thorough. James handled our custody mediation case. From the start he was straightforward with us about the probable outcome. He laid out the risks but also what the likely hood of gaining out desired parenting plan was in modification. His expertise in this field is hard to come by, and being able to trust what advice he was giving gave us piece of mind of a very uncertain time. I have known Jimmy for a year now as he has handled all aspects of my divorce, one of the roughest I have experienced, winning the case with minimal damages at the end. He even keeps the other lawyer in check if they are on the opposing side, several times over the course of my divorce he swooped in like Zoro keeping things fair and professional. If you want to win the case or have minimal damages Jimmy is the lawyer to have in your corner. PERIOD!

Jimmy helped me navigate the hardest time of my life... rolled with every change gave me good advice and did everything I asked even if he thought I should do something different he gave me advice and pushed for what I valued. What can I not say about the guidance Jimmy provided me during my 4 year long debate/divorce. Things weren't going well in my marriage and a friend suggested I reach out to Jimmy and I did. We had previous history together, but not under these circumstances.
He invited me to his office and spent well over an hour with me explaining the entire process. Jimmy was patient, as I attempted to save my marriage time and time again, till I knew it wasn't going to work no matter what I did, as it takes 2 people to make a marriage work.
Jimmy offered to represent me and my interest and suggested for me to reach out to my wife to address all legal proceedings
to use him to cut out court and legal representation fees as much as possible. Jimmy's goal is wanting the best for both parties during this trying time in our lives. She chose her own counsel which is fine.
The thing that sticks out the most to me was his guidance throughout this process. Paraphrasing: "Tempers are going to flare and ugliness may come out at any point. You need to be in control of your response/reactions as best as you can, always! You only have one divorce and how will others remember it? It's important not only for you, but for your daughter. The both of you will be forever connected because of your daughter. Watch what you say and if you need to leave before you do something you'll regret, do it and call me, anytime. Your daughter and her mother will thank you when she gets older."
Jimmy represented me well throughout the entire process when I was unable to attend court on certain occasions. I would recommend Jimmy to friends, family and even strangers who want to have a great aid/advisor during a challenging time.
My divorce is complete and my Ex and I have a great respect for one another. We communicate regularly and openly as we put our differences aside and give our attention to our young daughter who needs both of her parents.

You should consider David. A friend just now asked me about my divorce lawyer and whether I liked him. It’s indeed been years since I really thought about this exact relationship (divorce in 2017) so I was reminded to review him. I met David at a wedding of some friends in which he was serving as the groom’s best man. I thought it was great that I met him organically. I think I met with a few others but a reference from a friend is worth pure gold to me. I agree with everything all have said below. He always spent good time with me, he has a sense of humor and even though at the time, I could barely crack a smile, it frankly diffused a hell of a lot of tension. He had a clever strategy and though we never discussed it, I think I picked up on his waiting game with my ex-sociopathic con man louse of a husband. I am a get- it - done - NOW- -person as soon as I make up my mind. That’s not gonna serve you best with a sociopathic poor man who has no source of income of his own. David took the long view and looking back now I know it served me well. By the time we waited him out he was willing to take far less than originally “requested”. I was my usual impatient. But in the end, not only did he honor my request to finalize the divorce on a certain specific date (it was meaningful to me and sent a secret sayonara message to my EX), he saved me a lot of money with his tactics.

I have known David Huber almost 20 years, professionally and personally. He was the clear choice to represent my interests when I divorced in 2010. My then wife and I had been married over 30 years and had lived together for eight years prior to that. We had two adult children and a somewhat complicated estate of community and separate properties.
I wanted a fair, equitable and friendly outcome. Unfortunately, my former wife engaged an attorney to represent her interests that was not interested in a fair, equitable or friendly outcome.
David’s even and principled representation was able to neutralize the vitriol of opposing counsel while remaining a strong and persuasive advocate on behalf of that ‘fair and equitable’ outcome. David and I both understood that the problem was not primarily my wife … and after 18 months of discovery (of questionable good faith), David was able to persuade opposing counsel that no assets were being hidden. From that point we were able to proceed to a formal mediation process which resolved in one day.
On both a professional and personal level, David was a superb lawyer and counselor. He was always prepared. He communicated well the different perspectives of each issue before making his recommendation … and then accepted whatever decision I ultimately made. He shielded me effectively against difficult opposing counsel. He advocated for and so allowed a fair and equitable outcome to occur. Friendly even.

In 2009, I went through a terrible divorce and my counselor at that time mentioned “the children are young enough you can leave now and they won’t remember you.” Had I met Nelson nd had him as my attorney from day one I am confident I would’ve been the sole custodian of the children. The “hold harmless clause” was clearly violated. Nelson rectified this situation and had made sure that my ex could not get away with more financial damage. It is now 2019, my ex still thinks we are fighting a divorce, still refuses to properly cooperate with regards and respect to our now 11-year-old daughters. I trust Nelson, he’s easy to talk to and knows the letter of the law and most importantly he does not mince words. He will be my chosen attorney from here until he retires.

Mr. Berry is a complete professional, in every sense of the word. Compassionate, honest, prudent and versatile in matters of law. I am a single mom and very able, competent and successful. I am the founder of my own non-profit, although small in scale, that serve the needy with a determined and compassionate mission statement. I had a terrible last year with personal crisis and being harassed by Cps investigators twice. The first round I was completely oblivious to what their demands and ridiculous requirements were doing to the fiber of my family. I had no attorney at that time because I thought for sure I could not afford one. I hired Kathleen for a pretty serious (for me anyway) case in Woburn. From day 1 she was professional, kind and straight to the point. I helped my boss and boss's wife get through a criminal charge against her. I didn't know where to turn to, but when I searched for an attorney in Fullerton, Attorney Erika Becker showed up and several others. I contacted all of them, and she was the first to return my call within a day and realized she has a many years of law experience. When I met her, she explained details about what can happen to what she can do for us. Although, what she advised us wasn't the best outcome that we were hoping for, when the final outcome came out, she made it even better than what we had hoped for. There was a misdemeanor charge, 2 years of probation, 1 year of schooling...the charge was downgraded to infraction, no probation and no schooling! How awesome is that! I had the good fortune of having Ciro as my attorney. I had never met him before I appeared before the judge for the first time on a bitter divorce false arrest - on a alleged domestic violence charge. Ciro, arrived on time. Sat with me in the hallway of the court house. Listened, and my accuser kept trying to say that I had assaulted her. Mr. Saginar understood our side, and the need to ultimately have the entire proceeding expunged. --And while it did take months (as Mr. Saginar said that it would), ultimately the case was fully removed. A divorce judgement that needed to be moved to Nevada, alimony in arrears and current alimony all had to be resolved. I could not have asked for a better firm than what I found at Christopher Tilman's office. The interactions I had with Kathy and Paulina were excellent and calming. This was a stressful situation for me and I always got an answer, either by phone or email. My interactions with Christopher were illuminating and honest. I never felt ignored. From the very first consultation through to the final court appearance Sara was honest, receptive and very knowledgeable with the legal system. Sara was on top of everything from requesting discovery to communicating with me. The case ended up being dismissed with prejudice due to the prosecution being unable to provide requested discovery even after the judge gave them another 30 days (sounds like there was no evidence). Her fees were reasonable and service exceptional!! Great staff as well!!

Jeff Kortes put some extra work in convincing the assistant DA to get my case dismissed. A few months ago I was charged with felony child abuse in a matter involving my son. I didn’t like the prospect of going to trial, and pleading to a reduced charge would have some bad consequences. I understand that most cases are settled during the 1st court appearance however we had to do some extra work to get a dismissal.
Jeff always replied to my emails the same or next day and I liked that he usually answers his phone, unlike most lawyers. He also asked the judge to modify bond conditions and allow me travel out of state.
Overall Jeff is a very professional, understanding and experienced attorney.

They kept me in the loop on what was happening with my case in the court and answered the many questions that I had for them. I hired Mr. Kortes in August 2015 to represent my son, a college student, for a probation violation for 2 misdemeanors from 2014. My son organizationally challenged, absent minded and struggles with attention (all diagnosed), and missed a recent probation appointment. As this was not his first, he was facing jail time for the remainder of his probation.

Throughout a long, drawn out case, Courtney has been great. She dealt with the insurance carrier and one of the largest international corporations ably and deftly including last minute demands from the company for which she extracted additional compensation. Excellent advice at every turn. When we finally settled, she obtained for me a larger settlement than I had expected. Easy to work with and talk to, but a real pit bull for you when needed.
