Don’t waste your time with this attorney, he is unorganized and mismanages his work load. He responds late to emails, phone calls and will not represent you correctly. This attorney has costed us more in attorney fees than I originally expected to pay. Now i have to hire a new attorney and i am out of 8 thousands dollars due to his negligence.

Ms. Henschel gave me a free consultation to look over my case and after calling around to other offices, hers was the only one that seemed to care about my circumstances.
The retainer was manageable for my budget and Ms. Henschel was very conscious about updating me on the work going into my case.
She followed up with me whenever relevant and I had no issues getting in contact with her whenever I had concerns.
I would use her service again in a heart beat knowing she really does care

Ms. Henschel took a retainer, filed my divorce paperwork incorrectly, did not update me about court documents when they were received by her, demanded more money without an invoice for her work, then ghosted me when I tried to reach out for information and clarification. Do not use her services.

Custody, negotiating disagreements, and forcing compliance to an agreement, Doug and his firm nailed everything I have given him. He has always told me in advance what the high and low estimates would be for work. In my case he hit the low target on two deals and was in the mid range on one. All fair in my opinion.

Doug Warlick was absolutely useless in my divorce. He was never prepared in court every time I met him there. He claimed to know the judge on a personal level but every time we went to court the judge ruled the opposite of what Doug was asking for. He had no idea about the facts of my case when it was finally presented to the judge after continuance upon continuance. And as soon as my funds were running low he asked the court to excuse him from being my attorney. He bills himself as having "Experience with Integrity". Integrity?? We think not. I have never posted any reviews but Doug did such a poor job that I felt responsible to warn others: Do NOT hire this guy as your lawyer.

After a lot of soul searching and lawyer searching - I found Dana Van Leuven. She was very forthcoming with initial information on my search. I had questions that she answered without hesitation (other attorneys I probed didn't do that) - she seemed honest and easy to talk to and I appreciate that. One never knows if it's the right time or the right thing to do, when making life changes. Dana is an exceptional lawyer. In my case not only do I need advice, I need support. She has provided that to me. She is understanding of those times when I want to lash out at the system for lack of progress in my case. She explains why and shows me paths I can take to allow me to move on to the next steps. For me the fact that she cares about me is a very big positive.
On the lawyer side she is fantastic. I love that she can put in a couple of sentences what another lawyer needs to use paragraphs to explain. She does not waste time on frivolous issues even when as a disgruntled person at times I might ask for it. She shows me the best path(s) to take.
She works at her craft. She works for her clients. I usually find that she has already thought of the things I might ask her to do and has a ready plan.
In the process I am in she is not the first lawyer I used, but she will be the last and the one that I remember for the quality of service I received.

Kent was my attorney for a simple divorce. He charged me almost $20,000 AND we lost at trial, due to his ineptness. I appealed the Judge's decision and won in the Court of Appeals and MI Supreme Court -- which is very difficult in Domestic Relations law. Please -- there are many other divorce attorneys in Ann Arbor that will serve you better.

Jessica P Douglas was a terrible lawyer. Douglas was rude and presumptuous at our initial meeting. Miss Douglas arrogantly told me of how she had seen my criminal history when I didn’t actually have any prior charges. Miss Douglas was impossible to get ahold of on the telephone I called her 2 or 3 times a day for 3 months and in that time I received 1 sixty second phone call. Miss Douglas requested a continuance on my case without informing me that she was doing so or that doing so would ensure my stay in jail an additional month and a half. She failed to request a bond review or reduction hearing on my behalf. After leaving me in Douglas county for 3 months she failed to even get a slight reduction in the severity of my charges. I am now a convicted felon and Miss Douglas continued to insist that I was not complying with my probation when I was sentenced to time served with no continued monitoring. Thank you miss Douglas for assisting me on my decent homeless felon. You’re a peach!

Gricel was my lawyer for my divorce. I am so grateful to have had her help me, I had met with other lawyers but they didn't understand how to handle international divorce. Gricel had tons of experience with international clients and was very honest and effective in court. She explained everything to me, helped me to prioritize what I wanted in the divorce and understand what I could reasonably expect from the judge. We were able to come to an agreement on our home and other important items and Gricel fought to help me have full time with my children.
She understood what I was going through, was sympathetic and very professional. Gricel went through all the questions she anticipated which made the actual court less intimidating. She was efficient and didn't waste a lot of lawyer time making a huge bill like my friends have had happen to them. I hope you do not have a divorce, but if you have one you should hire Gricel. I highly recommend her for any divorce or child support case especially if there are international issues.

I can not give a great or positive evaluation of the service that I received from David Mahlum Law Office. The paralegals staff we're not very professional. Didn't seem knowledgeable in the ways of open commutation, being compassionate or did nothing to keep me in the loop thew this very difficult time to let me know how my case is being handling. After paying his $2000. attorney fee and under his advice, going to the two Counseling Programs. Another $1500. Well I guess as a client I expected better than take my money and do nothing. Specially after being promised I would be reinstated in one year. After making all my attorney Fee's to David Mahlum law firm. Communication stopped. It's now three year and about one year with no contact from David or his Paralegal staff. I highly recommend not to use this law firm. After April 2017. I will report this law firm to North Carolina state Bar.

I hired Mr. Mahlum to help me with a speeding ticket I had gotten while driving through a school zone. On our first meeting, he gave me advise about what to expect and what kind of options I may have moving forward. With his help and knowledge, he was able to help get my sentence reduced in court. And never once did I have to actually go to the courthouse. Mr. Mahlum handled all the back end work for me. He made process very easy and painless. I can only speak for the outcome of our child custody case. In the early stages of our case, prior to hiring him, he told us there was the Tender Years Doctrine that he could use an an argument in our case. Having never heard of that, and going online to Google it, found out that has not been used in many years, because it was deemed to violate the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. When we questioned him on that, he backed away from it.
It seemed as though he was attentive, and he spent time with us going over all our notes. But in the end, on the most important day in court, it was like he just wasn't 'there'. He didn't much object to anything from the other side, didn't challenge the important evidence, and overall left us to flounder.
We cannot speak for other cases he handles, for which he may be perfectly fit. But in our personal experience with him on an important child custody case, we felt he was a poor choice for our situation.

I hired Rick to work on my divorce case. I didn't get the work and results that I would expect at his rates. After continued arguments about billing and him losing every plea in my case, I fired him. He then filed a lien against me in Martin County and I was forced to pay his ridicules bill in full. Never again, as there are to many other local attorneys that are more cost effective.. When it first became necessary to hire an attorney, Mr. Barlow made himself available to me on a Sunday afternoon in his office to facilitate the needs of my schedule. He was also preparing for a trial starting the next day and I thought that his willingness to meet with me on Sunday when he was preparing for another matter was especially client oriented and showed a sincere interest in helping me retain counsel as soon as possible to relieve some of the burden from my shoulders.
Mr. Barlow listened to my entire story and all of the facts and came up with a strategy which was virtually the same as I had anticipated being an attorney myself, though a different type of attorney. Anticipating a battle lasting well into 2014, I was pleasantly surprised when we were able to get to a final hearing in mid December and everything was over.
I found Mr. Barlow be thoughtful, thorough, and compassionate. He and his paralegal make a good team for anyone who needs competent and honest representation. I would refer friends and clients who might require services in his practice areas without hesitation.

Zachary Kemp is NOT the lawyer you want to represent you. We hired Zachary Kemp and paid a $5000 retainer which included all court appearances. Kemp was more than happy to take that money and do minimal to no work proceeding all the way up to trial. Kemp then took a position with another firm, leaving his own firm named after him, emailing his client. Not calling, not setting up a meeting whether in person or on zoom, but emailing to say he intends to drop the case just before trial. This is not someone who is looking to represent you, it’s not someone who has your best interest in mind. This is a lawyer who is in it to squeeze every dollar he can while taking the path of least resistance just to get out.

We hired Mr. Kemp to handle our complex medical malpractice suit in 2011. We would never have seen our case win the appeal without his hard work and expertise. He thinks through his decisions, is timely with filing briefs, keeps us abreast of our case, and goes beyond the call of duty.

This guy collected more than $6000 from me and did not even glance at the notes I provided him prior to walking into court.
The guy shows up to a rural county court 45 minutes late and blames "traffic". Then he got owned in the lone hearing which he represented me by kid-lawyer with no case but who was prepared. He then tells me that opposing counsel has a new proposal which he'll forward to me - turns out the proposal was not new, I already received it two weeks prior, and provided him with detailed notes related to the proposal immediately. He neither read my notes or recalled that he already sent the proposal.
He was either wrong about, lied about or simply took no action related to the only two important legal questions I asked him during the consultation. He's either incompetent, dishonest or lazy. My guess is lazy.
I'm now on the verge of losing my children, home and career and have been forced to find new representation.
You are better off representing yourself. If you are in the market for an attorney then you have too much at stake to roll the dice on this guy or this firm. Had I done so I'd have and extra $6000 and no worse off legally.

I hired Robin to handle my simple divorce. She completely stopped communicating with me halfway through the process after I'd payed a flat fee up front. Emails and phone calls went unreturned for months. I had to hire a new lawyer and start over again from scratch. I ended up paying for two divorces instead of one. Not recommended.

A friend referred me to Dana. This has been the best decision I have ever made.

This women is a horrible and immoral person. Her and her husband Greg Turk tried to extort money from me through courts. They both took and oath in Allegheny County criminal court, then lied about damages I did to their house. I was found not guilty because, I had a video from the encounter showing an already damaged door. There have been SEVERAL victims of this lady she has gone after DOZENS of family's in our community from money. This women likes to target young girls by bullying them and intimidate them using social media. Each one of her victims always has a problem with one of her kids. Consumer BEWARE!

I spoke to Valerie about my prenup yesterday and was impressed with her knowledge and practical yet heartfelt approach. I highly recommend Mrs. Tocci and her team. Valerie, and Michael Stutman, represented myself in a nearly three year divorce (from a seven year marriage). She is passive, doesn't know case law, gives false promises and allows 'the other side' to push her around at every turn. She isn't organized, lets things wait until the last minute. And as a result of what I deem to be pure negligence, has potentially landed me in a situation where I may go to jail on contempt charges. Avoid at all costs. This is a very nice woman. However, she is unfit to represent as a litigator if you are looking for a fair settlement/juedgment.

This man is not your typical lawyer, he truly cares for his clients needs. He is passionate about his job and a very humble man, which is hard to come by in a lawyer. Everybody has to be careful when he deal with her. Court hire her to present my kids. She came to the court say a lot of stuff she’s not supposed to say it. She’s not gonna be honest in the front of the judge.

Kimberly (and her boss Bonnie) made big promises. But they came to Court unprepared and lost. they judge even asked them if they needed to reschedule the hearing for later they were so unprepared. On top of this they were very rude once they got my retainer payment.

I wish I had met and hired Jody at FLS sooner, they picked up my case in the 23rd hour and did great job. He was a voice of reason and kept communicating with me in the perfect way and by no way am I any easy client. I struggled to read the court documents and the extremely emotional mostly pissed through the whole process. Jody did a great job taking the time to explain everything to me and with great detail. Even when I wanted to rush through something he would say no we are going through this line by line. I will say this interview him and The Law dog Jake. I will me recommending him to everyone that ask me about a divorce.

DO NOT HIRE this firm under any circumstances, listen to the other reviewers! Terrible legal representation, unprofessional, unkind and gaslighting attorneys, capable of losing a simple case as a PO. Huge turnover. I was tossed around between attorneys with 1-3 years of experience who argued with me along about my own case and misstated facts. Greedy beyond belief. Overcharging for any and all services. Nearly $20 000 for obtaining a protection order!! Please seek help elsewhere!

Please do not waste your money or time on this lady. She will move slowly and not pay attention to your emails, and then come back asking for information you've already provided weeks ago.
She will talk to you like you are an idiot. In one of her emails to me she said "Ok, let me break it down to you.. read slowly" this is verbatim and "don't for a second treat me like I don't know what the F... I am doing" when I showed frustration and used the "damn" word in my email. Mind you, you are the one who's paying her and she's talking to you like this.
She will sign away your money without your consent. She offered the other side a lot money after I explicitly told her not to and then she comes back with "well, it's too late, they've already accepted".
Why did I keep her and keep paying her? Because I thought my ex and I reached an agreement but he would then change his mind and ask for more. Which he kept getting.
Yes, she will settle your case for you, for sure. Just be prepared to have her give the other side EVERYTHING they ask for and avoid court at every expense. She will tell you over and over,
" I just want to get you divorced and save you money", all the while giving away your money like it's water.
Do not hire this lady if your case is remotely complicated or you are a high income earner with your own business. And of course if you are looking for someone who remotely respects or listens to you.
This to say, that by the time, I brought another lawyer in, it was too late to undo all the damage she had already done and I was out of money to keep paying more and more fees. Wish I had someone different from the beginning. I would possibly still had paid alimony but much less than what was projected by the time another party came into play.
The whole justice system is not just people. Be prepared to lose as the lawyers make all the money. Divorce law is antiquated and needs an overhaul.

Hired Mandy sept of 2017. She files a motion which cost me 1500 roughly that was rejected and not even heard. She talked to me like I was a little kid and was disrespectful in our face to face conversations. Emailed her paperwork to file in court and she never filed them. Have her legal paperwork to review before court she failed to. Had no game play at the hearing I had to schedule an appointment with her day before court just to come up with a game plan. Was an hour late to court because she told me the hearing was at 11 when it was at 10. Made us both late that day and it hurt my case. Judge asked her to file the order and she never filed it. Asked her set up an appoint with other party per the judge order. She charged me for setting up the appointment but never got the sit in. Asked her to erase the extra charges she charged me and she didn’t then she filed a motion to withdraw as counsel and even charged me for the motion to withdraw. Very unorganized counsel. Other attorney looked professional and she was never prepared to counter. She charged me for motions that were never heard failed to communicate file paperwork correctly and was late for court. Very below standard and do not recommend. She doesn’t care about her clients

Lisa and her firm handled my divorce. ..I got passed from lawyer to lawyer about 7...they all seemed to leave her firm....they dragged the case out until it cost me , yes $50.000.00 what a sin... not only dealing with my x and her lawyer. ...my lawyer and her firm overcharged me....they did not keep me informed very well over the two years they represented me.

This firm lured me in with a free consultation and a promise to relieve my support payments instantly by $10k/month. Elated I hired them on the spot.Afterpaying them $15k, I saw that they did nothing to help my case except billing me for every one in their firm to touch my file. And yet when I ask anyone questions nobody seems to be able to know my case or give any advice. When I said I’d have enough, they sent me another bill for $24k. I continue to be harassed by the law office for a bill they did not render services for! Mr. Young was already paid and received payment from the respondent almost a year ago. For which he stats to me you n front of 2 witnesses that I did not owe him any more money. In his exact words "we are square. You owe me nothing." My witnesses wrote out affidavits and submitted them. I had to FIRE this attorney due to him making back door negotiations with Opposing Counsel withOUT my knowledge or consent. He did nothing for me! And still got paid over $16,000 and continues to bill me for services not rendered! See his yelp reviews! He's a 2.8 on Yelp!

I would give Mr. Young 0 stars if that were an option.
Mr. Young was my second attorney on my divorce case because I was seeking a strong custody lawyer and he was suggested to me as a custody attorney. I have nothing positive to say and deeply regret using him. He charged a lot of money for absolutely no benefit, I literally would have gotten the same result if I had represented myself. I say that confidently as I am now three years post divorce and have represented myself at numerous hearings over the years.
Ladies dealing with domestic abuse situations in particular do not use this attorney. My ex was abusive. I asked for some basic things in my custody agreement such as doing custody exchanges at a public place. Mr. Young scoffed and asked if that was really necessary stating I would find it to be an inconvenience down the road. Three years later, my ex is still abusive and I am so grateful I insisted on adding this language despite his "advice" not to.
I was the primary supporter financially of our family and asked Mr. Young to fight on my behalf to reduce my alimony obligation based on the fact that our marriage did not contribute to my ex's inability to support himself. He said there was nothing he could do about alimony. Three years later, I've had three different attorneys tell me I should have fought the alimony originally and that it's harder to change later. I am currently going back to court to get it reduced.
He made no effort on the custody agreement. He simply wrote into the agreement the items I provided to him. I am regularly finding errors which has caused a lot of difficulty in coordinating visitation exchanges. For the amount of money I paid him, and because he's marketed himself as a custody attorney, I would have expected the custody agreement to be air tight.
Mr. Young was my second lawyer so my paperwork had already been filed, however, his office insisted on refiling. I found numerous errors they needed to correct. I was charged a lot for them to do something i had never asked and for them to do it incorrectly.
Every step of the way, the work Mr. Young and his office provided was incorrect, unhelpful, and cost a ridiculous amount. I can not strongly enough urge people, especially women, to not use Mr. Young's services.

Kerry proved to be everything you don't want your lawyer to be: Incompetent, unreachable, late to court hearings, and to top it off he has a huge ego!
He calls from unknown number, to call him you have to go thru the switch board and leave msgs. Most of the time he doesn't even call back, and other times responds via email.
His customer service skills does not jive with the rate he charges you. As he is amongst some of the more expensive attorneys. He collects all the money upfront, that should've been a red flag!
Do yourself a service if you want legal representation stay away from this guy, you be better off with public defender than him

Lazy, Late, and incompetent. late for court twice. Had me plead guilty to a charge i wasn't guilty of. [Out of state residents are not required to register their weapons.] Cost me four times the actual amount of restitution. Poor communication. Tried emailing me that he was late for court because if he called his cell number would show up on my phone. [Who emails anything that needs immediate attention?] Told me to plead the sheet because he was too inept to negotiate a reasonable plea agreement. [why hire an Attorney if you;re just going to plead guilty to everything?] Charged me double the rate and said because it was two cases......after both were combined! If you are smart>DO NOT HIRE THIS IDIOT.
