Jim was the most professional and patient attorney I have ever worked with, helping my parents plan for their future. Both are in their 80's and Jim explained everything to both of them and our family. Not sure what we would have done without him. Highly recommend.

I had hired Mr. Klein roughly 3 years ago to handle my case. No progress was made with my case at all while under his direction. I ended up having major surgery due to the injuries from my car accident. Mr Klein was not pro-active or knowledgeable at all as to how to handle my case. Phone calls are not returned with knowledgeable answers. I did all of the work getting paper work and medical documents, the last time we met Mr. Klein though it was appropriate to ask "Would you like to grab a drink my wife is still working?" And compare me to Taylor swift. Aside from being a sub-par lawyer he is unprofessional and demeaning. His lack of integrity is astounding. Firing this lawyer was the best decision I've made.

Several months ago, my wife and I met with Attorney Sutnik for a very lengthy meeting to discuss updating our Trust. The meeting lasted for at least 90 minutes, and there was no fee charged for this initial consultation. We gave Attorney Sutnik our prior Trust documents which he said he would review within a few days and get back to us. He quoted a price range which we accepted, and that was the last we heard from him. Perhaps two months passed without a call, so I had my wife contact his office so we could retrieve our documents. We assumed he was not interested in having us as clients. There was no explanation offered as to why he completely ignored us, and no request for additional time. My wife was told our documents would be waiting on the Admin's desk. Needless to say, we are very disappointed and would suggest others look elsewhere for competent legal services.

John was recommended by a few friends, I also checked his reviews. It was a frustrating experience, I always had to call their office, was never kept up on what was going on with my case. I was told an offer had been made on my behalf AFTER it was done, to settle with the insurance company. It was never discussed with me, I definitely didn’t feel that was right. I then asked the office to please keep me in the loop when things are done, had to demand a face to face meeting with him. I was Recently told maybe not to go to court because of the COVID ! People would not look kindly upon me asking for money when other people had died because of this virus. I thought it was a ridiculous response, but didn’t want to deal with this practice anymore so I unhappily, settled, Didn’t feel I was compensated for all the pain and suffering I went thru. I did alot of the foot work, calling the companies, Doctors, therapist, having info faxed to the lawyers office for various forms, visits, etc. That’s why I would not recommend John because of the issues I’ve had. I am writing this so other people don’t go thru the difficulties I went thru, I struggled with if I wanted to write and post this and decided it was the right thing to do.

Attorney Kennedy has passion, character and strong commitment which led to an outstanding settlement for me taking into full consideration my health and well being in future years to come. Forces clients to sign legal documents with "threats" that the judge will be angry if you "don't sign". She "takes credit" for others legal work, and looks the other way when asked about it. Either answers questions with questions, or walks away with her partner claiming they can't deal with their clients. Set's up her clients to "teach them a lesson" when the clients disagree with the way cases are handled. Routinely covers for "bad acts by her partner" so the firm won't be exposed. Refused to answer grievance claim after she "witnessed" opposing counsel threaten her clients. Bad apple all around. Should be investigated and have her law license pulled.

It has been a long time since I had any contact with Attorney Massa. He represented me and took an eighteen (at the time) year old kids money to only offer and delay the sentence the public defender offered me my first time in court. Not only did he tell me he would be able to help me get a deal other than the one already on the table at the time, he promised me he had connections in the court room which where non-existent. He lied, he did as little work as possible, and he took $5000 from a kid only to file continuances until he was tired of my phone calls asking him what work he actually was doing. I would not recommend him or trust him as far as one could throw him. What a waste of nice clothes and smooth talking flesh. If only put that effort into doing his job he might be worth something.

I was able to have my surgery and eventually get back to work. Eventually we were able to resolve my claim at a fair and reasonable value. at no time did I believe that Attorney walker was in it for the money. Looking for a rental apartment, I was denied based on a 20 year old Felony. I looked up the CT law regarding this and saw a newly passed bill which the rental company did not comply with. Tucker McWeeny was the ONLY attorney who took my case. I sent out dozens of emails to local attorneys. No other attorney wanted to deal with an ex addict fighting for my rights over a 20 year old criminal conviction. Tucker was able to fight for my civil rights as a Connecticut resident and settled my case quickly. He responded to my emails in a timely fashion and walked me through his strategy step-by-step, and was even willing to explain everything line-by-line. The guy is awesome. Tucker cares about Civil Rights violations, discrimination, rights concerning rental background and screening violations, and will fight for you when landlords use your criminal records against you in housing decisions within the State of Connecticut.

When I was new to Wallingford and in need of a family law attorney I was told that Kate Rizzo was not only the best on town, but the best in the Greater New Haven area. Having been told that I consulted Attorney Rizzo on two separate occasions for different family law related matters. I found her not only to be extremely knowledgeable and professional, but also straight forward, practical and compassionate. In short, Kate possesses all the qualities needed in an attorney who has chosen to work in family law, an area of practice where emotions can run high and litigants can so easily lose sight of what's most important. I highly recommend Kate Rizzo.

Trust is imperative in a relationship such as theirs and her straightforwardness and honesty has made him feel well cared for and respected. Attorney Babbitt and her team worked with me in a very fair and transparent manner. I was distraught as a result of my recent divorce and in a difficult spot financially. I needed to access money from a 401K and could not do so until my ex-wife completed the necessary administrative paperwork. Despite several attempts to contact my ex-wife and her attorney directly, pleading with them to complete the paperwork, she ultimately refused my request. My only option was to sue for contempt and I really wanted to avoid the courtroom. Attorney Babbitt was able to work with my ex-wife's attorney and arrange for the paperwork to be completed quickly and without a lot of drama. The team at Klein and Babbitt was patient and understanding during this period and I truly appreciated that most of all. I would highly recommend this law firm. Thank you for your help.

After a sneaking suspicion then coupled with another attorney’s prompt to read through my entire case file by myself, I sat and did just that in one sitting, then two, and caught him lying to not only me on and through multiple correspondences, but to many others i.e. judges, prosecutors, et al. members of the court, my friends, and family; some written, some recorded, some in audio only, some with video as well. And after speaking with parties involved, they are verifiable. I sent him an email letting him know that he no longer represented me, then went to the courthouse and filed the proper paperwork to success.

Stephen's "review" is incoherent and nonsensical for several reasons. Before I reach those reasons, it is important to note that, after researching our system, we do not have any client or former client by the name of "Stephen" that retained us for a loan modification and then a Chapter 13 as alleged by this "Stephen". As for the bogus claims made in the review, loan modifications do NOT depend on credit scores. Thus, the alleged comments by the supposed mysterious broker friend is totally false. I refer you to makinghomeaffordable.gov. That is the official governmental site for modifications. The site has an eligibility questionaire to review, which notably does not even ask about credit scores (most folks needing this program have missed payments and do not have good credit; thus requiring good credit would defeat the purpose of the entire program, thus explaining why good credit is not required for a HAMP loan modification). Second, we do not charge ridiculous fees, such as $5,000 for loan modifications. Third, we do not charge $4,000 for Chapter 13's. Fourth, the standing Chapter 13 trustee has never required our clients to give up their homes when the client has a feasible plan to retain it. Finally, be mindful of folks who say they've had multiple lawyers work on their cases. It's an indication they have very unrealistic expectations, do not pay their lawyers, causing them to withdraw from the case, and/or worse. My firm has an A rating with the Better Business Bureau. I am in good standing with The Florida Bar, with NO disciplinary action within the last ten years. Moreover, my firm's website, MyFloridaDebtRelief.com contains several modifications we obtained on behalf of our clients for review. Finally, the HAMP program is scheduled to end at the end of 2012. Do not waste time seeking one if you are serious about getting a loan modification. We would be happy to help you out.

Hired lawyer to assist me with trying to save my home from foreclosure. Convinced me that first we should do a loan remodification on my home mortgage. Spent more than 10 months trying for it, only to be turned down (found out from a mortgage broker friend that with my credit score and debt/income it was impossible to have gotten approved.) Anyway, after spending more than $5,000 for that failure, convinced me that now we should go BK 13. Another $4,000 later, I'm no better off - in fact, I'm now required, according to the bankruptcy Trustee, to GIVE UP my home - exactly what I did NOT want to happen!! If you want your intentions met, do NOT hire this lawyer. He does NOT seem to listen to his client's wishes.

Pullman & Comley did a fantastic job helping me navigate my divorce and custody challenges. With a young special needs daughter involved, it was important to have a team with a broad range of expertise. Jon Kukucka specifically gave invaluable advice and was was spot on with his approach and arguments both in court and with mediators. I highly recommend Pullman & Comley.

Worst experience with an attorney in my lifetime. The performance falls well below the standard of care expected of an attorney and firm. I felt unheard and undervalued as a client. I do not recommend them to anyone going through divorce.

I had a very difficult international family law matter concerning child custody, case jurisdiction and the UCCJEA. The situation was adverse. Stakes were high. Notwithstanding, Campbell Barrett and his team pulled the proverbial rabbit out of the hat and did a stellar job for me and my children who would otherwise been relegated to a bleak future. As a family law attorney, Campbell Barrett of Pullman and Comley is worth his weight in gold ... or even platinum for that matter! My boys and I have him to thank along with his team members Johanna Katz and Stacy for saving their future. When the going gets tough Pullman and Comley get going and do the job done as none other.

This guy is the definition of a slump! Because he is retiring he doesn't care for any of his clients. He puts him self first above anything else. He doesn't answer calls or voicemails and does not care. If it's to benefit him that's when he acts. It's sad and I won't recommend and I will tell everyone to stay away this is not how you do things. You should just quit already and save people the headache

I hired Attorney Conway to represent me in a legal matter. He handled my case with extreme competency, efficiency, and compassion. A very favorable outcome resulted and I am grateful to have found him to represent me. I would highly recommend the Conway Law firm to anyone requiring legal help.

I can say without hesitation that attorney Conway is one of the best in the state. I have been more then pleased with his services and this is comming from someone who has, unfortunately had several run-ins with the law in the past and has retained multiple defense attorneys. It is very clear that he is well respected in the courtroom, goes above and beyond for his clients in every aspect and gets more then favorable results all for what I feel is a more then reasonable price, especially considering my case got more complicated over time. If you find yourself in trouble, this is the man to call.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
