I was so excited to work for MWSW. I didn’t clearly understand at first what everyone meant when they kept saying “you are still here” week after week. It didn’t take long for me to figure it out. This was the most toxic place I have ever worked in my life. There is not one support staffer that is happy. I have never quit a job without having another one but it was the best decision I have ever made. Although I hadn’t secured another job, I quit. I couldn’t bring myself to go back to such a miserable toxic environment. I am extremely happy with my decision to leave and I pray the rest of the LA’s find something much better. Life is too short.

My mother used this attorney for a family matter not only did he fail to properly represent her, he made several seedy attempts to be inappropriate. When my mother denied his advances her became careless working on her case. She lost her home and thousands of dollars as a result. Don’t trust him.

Mr. Mason is one of the most personable lawyers I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with, I hope I never have to use him again but if need be, he’s the man. He has went above and beyond in my case, as cliche as that sounds, the statement has never rang more true for me, than me saying that now. A true man for what’s right, and I believe that in my heart of hearts.

Avoid and stay away. Misconduct, dishonesty, and unprofessional. This attorney needs to repeat grad school and retake the Ethics course. He screwed up my I-485 petition: lied, misconducted, and was rude. Cannot tell how this influenced my life. Both I and my wife fired this attorney and firm. We have saved all the original email communications. We would be happy to share per request to use as educational materials. Please google the attorney’s name before you decide to hire. Interested to see the story, see below. We hired this attorney to file two I-485 cases for my wife, and myself as a derivate applicant. The I-485 case of my wife’s was filed earlier properly but due to visa retrogression, when we were preparing the paperwork for mine, the PD of the primary applicant was not current. 1. We were told I could not file until we could, we checked multiple times however, my case was filed to USCIS in May 2023 when the PD of the primary applicant was still not current even now (August 2023) 2. We asked for confirmation within 2hr upon receiving your email telling us my package was shipped, we were told that, ‘we haven’t, we will until we can. 3. 2 weeks later, we were notified by USCIS that my case was received. 4. 1 week after, we were told that they indeed filed my case and advised us just to wait. 5. We expressed the concerns politely; We were told that USCIS should not mistakenly accept the case. We were again told no action was needed; Even if something happens, they would help us proceed with CP or Follow-to-join, which would take a significantly long time. We said no. In the initial conversation, they told us they would do what they could to avoid this happening as this could take a very long time. 6. We took a lot of time looking into this issue, and we all became very anxious. Unfortunately, we found it was well-documented that the I-485 not Current filing would be denied; We also found some similar cases from a BBS and some friends around. We again expressed our concerns and asked for a solution, we were told what we described was quite implausible. 7. We asked to let him withdraw the case on my behalf and would still let him help me refile when it becomes current. We were again told the fact of USCIS receiving my case would be a good thing for us. Also, we were told we could not refile when the withdrawal case was not completed. 8. We followed up, and we were told that Form B was in use and the timing was good when my case was filed in May 2023, so there was NOTHING wrong but just some miscommunication. We were convinced at that time and felt happy. However, we checked and found it was a lie. Form B was never in use since early this year and is still true now (August 2023). We were fooled. 9. We decided to pay for a consultation with another lawyer, we also used some free services provided by AVVO. Consistently, we were advised to withdraw and when it becomes Current, we can refile not to miss the timing. Even if the withdrawal case is not completed, we can still refile for no problem. We asked again, and they refused but admitted that we could refile even if the withdrawal case was pending. They told us because it would cause a financial loss to their firm, they refused to issue a refund but would be happy to disengage immediately.

Where do I start? Jesus is ineffective, unprofessional, and just plain incompetent. Thankfully I came to my senses and fired him and retained a professional lawyer who got me the result I needed and deserved. I mistakenly hired Jesus via a family lawyer I had retained for a divorce. As the title states, hire at your own peril.

I'm a colleague and have had cases against Jesus in the past. I've found him always professional, knowledgeable, compassionate for his clients, and prepared. He's now out on his own and so will have even more control of his own office, his own staff, and processes. All the best Jesus and I look forward to our next case.

Did not have a good experience with this lawyer. She seemed unprepared when the day of court came and was even late. She did not advise me of any potential ramifications of the route we were pursuing that the opposing counsel might use so we/I was blind-sided by the opposing counsel in court, while on the stand, which I was never prepared to even be on and shouldnt have been on. Little to no preparation and she bickered with opposing counsel in a manner that felt like junior high arguing. I was so embarrassed by her performance. Needless to say, we lost in court and my situation continued to be horrible and my relationship with my ex and their willingness to work with me further diminished. Stay away from this lawyer at all costs.

This law firm was one of the most unsatisfactory experiences I've ever had. I hired Elizabeth for a straightforward protective order case, but it took her over a month just to initiate contact with opposing counsel. Despite their claims, no communication with opposing counsel was established until opposing counsel reached out to me directly to inquire if Elizabeth would contact them. Once contact was made, it took several months for them to draft and send orders, with opposing counsel ultimately filing the orders. I have had to repeatedly request bills, statements, and payment links. During our first court hearing, I made numerous attempts to contact Elizabeth with no response. Despite firing her over a month ago and sending multiple requests for my file, she has failed to withdraw from the case and send me my file. I strongly advise against hiring this firm for your legal matters.

I had Elizabeth on my case for 11 months. It was hard to contact her and when we did happen to speak she could not go over any information I've already given to her.she always had an excuse as to why she couldn't do anything I asked.when we did go to court she never tried to talk to me about anything I literally had to go to her face to get her attention.she was supposed to be my advocate but she was always with the defense. She was fired.

I could not pay my rent after the wreck due to my injuries preventing me from be able to work. Robert Melendez loaned the money to me in order for me to not loose my place. Robert Melendez did not keep me updated on the case very well but he did not give up on making the insurance company pay me what I deserved.

This attorney is personable and smart! He, however, is a last minute filer or a "minutes before the deadline attorney". Also, his office staff habitually lost copies of pertinent and confidential information. In several instances, I had to, not only, reissue copies of documents I had already submitted (4 times to be exact), but also, edit their own papers earmarked for court, I.e., correct facts, grammar and typographical errors (again, minutes before they were due). When brought to this lawyer's attention, his response was to pass blame by accusing me of not following through with his recommendations (in which proof, that I had, lay in the massive documents that had been in his possession for more than two years). That stated, this attorney waited almost two years to file--meaning, just before the statue of limitations were to run out. To be exact, he filed the first time, less than five days before the deadline. He continued the pattern with the appeal, filing it only minutes before the courts closed for the holidays. It became apparent, from where I sat, that he was neither cognizant of documents in his possession ; nor, had he, by any means, read materials thoroughly enough for a clear understanding of the issues, which is a possible reason why a straightforward enough case, morphed into something other than the inital complaint. Finally, for all of the aforementioned, it is my sincere belief, that the perceived profitability of my case, trumped justice, fairness and just plain common decency! I have suffered great losses due to this attorney's negligence. I have, however, learned to pay attention to warnings offered by those who, before me, have experienced similar or the exact same treatment!

The fact this business is supported through extortion and unlawful acts that are considered crimes because they are at work forcing people to pay their way through life so they don’t have to actually work is a complete crime against our gos given rights. Don’t pay but make sure to send notarized and certified mail asking why they think it’s okay to take our god given rights away so they don’t have to actually work. Ask them why they think it’s okay to enslave us through policies and take the rights gave you away. Supreme law of the land already determined this business is not conducting itself in a manner that states our children are not the beneficiary as they should be. Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
