I contacted Ariela for a consultation after an argument with my fiance turned violent. It was the 2nd time, both times resulting in dangerous accidents. I had no idea whether or not I was overreacting by considering whether or not my situation fell under the "domestic violence" category. I wanted to consult someone qualified to tell me whether or not this was something serious/warranting legal action, or something "normal" and needing just some counseling. She was able to consult me from a completely legal and objective perspective, without judging me nor my fiance (we both have had family history of domestic violence). Apparently, statistically these behaviors get worse and more dangerous if we don't get proper help (and they WERE worse the 2nd time!). The perfect blend of real understanding, professionalism, integrity, and wisdom. I really felt like her concern was to help me, instead of being concerned with fighting a war on domestic violence or selling a retainer. Lucy (and team) helped me with a divorce recently. They were fast, easy to contact, quick to respond and I never found an error in their billing. We thought we could handle our own work-for-hire contracts, just simple stuff anyways… until we got successful and then things got ugly. Another attorney tried to fix it, but only dug a deeper, more ambiguous hole. Then the litigation threats started and we felt sunk. Our firm had just spent over $25,000 on creating a new services website. We were using a new trademark based on an e-commerce name we had been using for well over 20 years.
To our great surprise, we were slapped with a notice of litigation from a much, much larger online company that we were infringing on their web territory - that the names were "confusingly similar".
We were referred to Reid through one of our firm's members. Reid and I teleconferenced. As a start-up we had limited funds for expensive legal fees. Reid's wise counsel, hard-won through numerous follow-up calls and appropriate filing response timing, not only saved us tens of thousands of dollars in protracted litigation costs, which Reid and I both knew would quite legally and obviously, win us an eventual victory, but also resulted in a compromised settlement with the plaintiff that allowed us to be compensated more than adequately by the plaintiff to simply change our domain name and surrender our new trademark to them.
Although in theory, this settlement was less than palatable to us, his counsel was well timed and eminently practical.

Ms. Lewis has been extremely helpful with some difficult legal situations that required a thorough understanding of our various counterparts. Ms. Lewis not only guided us through difficult negotiations but also offered numerous suggestions on how to best approach our licensing agreements and contracts. Our agreements stretch over years and occasionally decades and have significant consequences for the future of our business endeavors. Ms. Lewis has been instrumental in avoiding many pitfalls and made our exchanges with the other party a little easier. I would highly recommend working with Ms. Lewis and make sure you write down some of her comments. She thinks fast and out of her quick mind comes real nuggets. It is up to you to catch them. Don't be afraid to ask her "why" when discussing the minutiae of a paragraph or a line in a contract. Ms. Lewis will go into all the possible angles on your counterpart's side and yours. It is occasionally scary but ultimately helpful since it gives you an opportunity to choose the best possible path knowing full well what all the possible options are. Take your time to review all her suggestions and comments on your documents. Sleep on them ! It will be worth your time. You won't regret it. I could not recommend Ms. Lewis enough.

Stephen has been nothing but EFFICIENT and EFFECTIVE in assisting me with reviewing and revising a joint venture agreement for a real estate deal. To be fair, it was not a typical purchase agreement type of transaction. I put a lot of pressure on him with the deadline, yet, Stephen was able to perform on short notice. Michael argued in front of the bankruptcy court in Delaware regarding the bankruptcy of certain Chinese Drywall defendants. He was well prepared and his knowledge of the law was obviously superior to the numerous other attorneys in the room representing various parties. The judge gave great deference to the difficult position Michal was arguing since it was presented in such a persuasive argument. I would highly recommend retaining Michael in any bankruptcy matter.
