I met Nick because I had used another attorney at his office for an injury case, and when I got stopped for DUI I knew I could trust the office again.
At the motion hearing Nick got my whole case thrown out! He showed that just because I crossed the fog line didn't prove I was drunk, and more importantly, that the Officer never had a reason to stop me in the first place. I would trust Nick's firm with any case.

I had never had anything more than just speeding tickets but then I got a DUI. I realize how this was a big mistake, but Nick never made me feel bad about myself. Actually from the first time we met I just felt better. I think I got a good outcome...no jail time or even license suspension because he won the phone hearing for me. I was charged with reckless driving in Snohomish county. Nicholas was able to negotiate it down to a minor traffic infraction. Nicholas was very kind and understanding the entire time, both in and out of court. He was easy to get in touch with and explained everything in great detail. I hired Phil due to some property issues I was having with a developer working an adjacent property to mine and concern over city decisions that would affect me and my property. Phil made himself available when needed coming on-site a couple of times to review the situation, also met with the developer when I needed questions answered and made himself available for meetings with me - some on short notice. He helped guide me to a settlement with both the city and developer which provides minimal impact to me and my property and even provides some benefits from the development, all while identifying and utilizing the only leverage I had. Phil was recommended to me by another attorney I worked with for another issue. She stated she heard good things from other clients regarding Phil. I definitely would recommend Phil to anyone and am thankful I was able to find him after being disappointed trying to work with several other attorneys - some who overstated their level of expertise. I was really impressed with him and liked him the first time he came out to my property and we talked in person. We had some questions as sellers about an addendum to a purchase and sales agreement for some open land, especially on the issue of avoiding liability for any issues that could arise in the future, and also on proper wording to be legally sound. Phil grasped what we needed done immediately and made excellent suggestions for changes in a very timely way, and in a very short period of time. All this through a phone conversation and emailing of documents. His grasp of real estate issues allowed him to be extremely efficient and therefore cost effective. Would recommend him for any real estate issue.

Went through a business dissolution and Mr. Metz really went after what rightfully belonged to me as the new business owner. Very knowledgeable, experienced, caring, and informative. What I thought would be a minimum ended up in a great settlement and I did not have to pay an arm and a leg for his services. I sustained severe injuries when a deck collapsed at a private residence. The insurance company representing the homeowner initially denied liability for the deck collapse. I retained Matthew Metz to represent me in an attempt to recover compensation for damages from the company. Mr. Metz was able to negotiate a settlement with the insurance company that I was extemely pleased with and which required a minimum amount of effort on my part.

Allen Bentley did a superb job of respresenting me and ulitmately prevailing in a federal criminal case that involved the imposition of an illegal sentence. We were up against bureaucratic US Attorneys who claimed they had a right to impose a $30 million restitution judgement against me simply because of a procedural error despite their knowledge that the sentencing judge intended the amount to be $50,000. Al did extensive research and provided superb arguments as to why the case should be put before the judge for resentencing. He ultimately got the government to stipulate to the resentencing and persuaded the judge to sentence me to the amount that he originally intended to impose ($50,000).

Keaton has managed my case since late 2012. There were many reasons that I retained Keaton to represent me, but the highlights are that Keaton was the most positive, realistic, calm and affordable attorney I had consulted up that point.
Once we had come to an arrangement, I always felt I was in capable hands. Keaton always kept me informed about the status of my case, and I never had to wonder what progress had been made. Keaton never patronized me or spoke down to me. If I wanted greater detail, she answered my questions clearly and without a lot of obfuscation or legalese. She was also always very realistic and never made wild promises that got my hopes up.
Keaton was incredibly diligent. She read case law, consulted with colleagues and other lawyers in different states and just did a fantastic job exploring all the options that could have been available to me. She was clear in her written and verbal summations to me, and she was also clear in the path she advocated. I came to trust Keaton implicitly. She kept every deadline, was very organized, and always clearly told me my responsibilities, and followed up on hers.
Although realistic enough to realize that there were no guarantees to the outcome of my case, I very quickly felt that my case was in the hands of an incredibly competent and remarkably conscientious and ethical attorney. Keaton is a very approachable person and a very warm human being. She remained accessible to me throughout the process, and was very, very good about responding to my calls and emails quickly and professionally.
As my case moved forward from stage to stage, Keaton continued to work with me on the fees she charged. I consider the amount she charged me to handle my case to its resolution a very fair and reasonable price. I think Keaton was worth every penny I paid. I admire her ethics in this area, too, because she could easily charge more for clients who are often too desperate to quibble over the cost of services.
All in all, this has been a very fraught and at times, discouraging period, but as of this writing, I am so happy to write that Keaton has seen my case through to the best possible solution: As of last week, I am now an American citizen!
Keaton has been, simply, the best, and I will always hold her in high esteem.

We hired Alli Keller after going to a famous downtown firm that advertised themselves as the best. They were the best in billing us timely for barely any results. They nickeled and dimed us, and did not even call us to explain to us what our adoption process would be like. When we raised the issue that we needed more information, they showed us the door, and thank god we found Alli Keller's firm. I am happy to tell of my professional relationship with Alexandra Keller.
Since moving to the Seattle area from California, I wanted to assure that my estate documents were up to date and legally binding in the state of Washington.
I found a number of lawyers who could help me. When I asked for a price estimate, I found that some required money upfront or a retainer fee. Others stated that their fee would be as much as $350 an hour but would not give a time estimate. I could not promise an unspecified amount without a price range estimate. When I contacted Alexandra, telling her exactly what I wanted, she told me that iwould be $400 - $800.
She rewrote my Revocable Living Trust, my Will, a Durable Power of Attorney for Finance, a Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care, and a Health Care Directive. Due to a family death, I needed my trust agreement to reflect a change. I have been extremely pleased with the five newly written documents. Alexandra did charge the $800, but justifiably so. She made several helpful suggestions for my consideration while writing these documents. and it all takes time and effort.
When we met for the final signing and notarization, she went over everything allowing me to ask questions. She followed up by sending me an itemized statement of her charges and wrote off all of the extra time to stay within her stated estimate. She also sent forms upon which to list personal tangible property, naming a recipient for those items that do not need to be included in any other document.
You will find Alexandra to be very kind and patient, very intelligent, and focused upon service that meets your needs.
If in the future I have any legal needs, I will seek counsel with Alexandra. If a concern is outside her area of expertise, I know she will make a wise referral. In addition, I want to add that her office is easy to get to, on 35 th Avenue, close to the University with ample free parking.

I have been a practicing physician for 15 years and found myself in need of legal advice to help me leave my practice with a large hospital-based employer. I'm like most of my colleagues in that I am not experienced with employment contracts and/or separation agreements in medicine as I have only signed one contract since finishing residency.
I hired Luke Campbell based on the reputation of his firm, but I quickly realized that he had developed an excellent reputation of his own. He helped me with two separate issues: negotiating a departure from my previous company and advising/negotiating my next employment contract. The changes that he recommended were accepted by my future employer and the matter was settled in a timely manner. Mr. Maxwell provided advice on how to enter an arbitration award as a court judgment. He is a good communicator and helped me understand the process, the costs, and the tradeoffs. I was especially impressed with Mr. Maxwell's interest in getting the best result for *me*. Richard did a great job handling our case - my daughter had accident with Little League team, knocked out two front teeth, damaged two more. Huge dental bills, bone graft, implants. I met Bill through connection to a group complaint founded in basic corporate legal issues, and was immediately impressed. He guided us through each phase expertly, in several instances actually instructing opposing counsel, and led us to timely, extremely successful resolution of our case. I chair the board of a large condo building in Portland that hired Tony to reach attractive settlements in two separate building issues. I recommend him for his willingness to help legal committees avoid the intra-building anger that accompanies such unfortunate events and his readiness to settle as soon as attractive terms can be achieved.
The first complaint we had was for a piece of building equipment. We had initially retained a different lawyer but quickly became concerned that her desire to litigate until all appeals were exhausted wasn't in keeping with the low-drama solution our owners wanted. After switching, Tony negotiated a settlement that avoided court by tying any future payments to actual future repairs instead of insisting on an upfront check.
Our second issue was much larger in both dollars and breadth but the board wanted to go with an attorney that would guide the case to a good compromise and try to avoid spiraling into never ending appeals. Tony prepared for trial throughout the case and pre-trial motions were a big part of setting the stage for a very successful settlement but always focused on the goal: a pre-trial settlement that would fully protect owners. Our owners wanted the pain that litigation causes to be recognized by their counsel and have that counsel deliver results; Tony did so.

I chair the Board of Directors at the Encore (177 unit high-rise condo in Portland, OR). The Encore condo owners association entered into an engagement agreement with Tony Rafel in August 2012 for general counsel and other legal services following turnover of condo association responsibility from the developer to owners.
Since that time Mr. Rafel has provided very effective legal service to the Encore on a wide range of important matters, including negotiating successful agreements on building defect, mechanical and plumbing system problems, as well as advising and supporting the Board on contracts, resolutions and policy and rules matters.
As volunteer Board members, we appreciate Tony's solid knowledge and experience in condo association law and especially defect claims. He is able to communicate complex legal and technical issues in a way that homeowners can understand and take appropriate action through the condo owners association and the Board.
Tony is very responsive to telephone and email inquiries and readily available to meet with the Board or property management staff, often during evening meetings. He is also respectful of our association's limited budget for legal support and very effective at helping us to balance cost and benefit considerations when approaching legal matters.
His sound judgment and excellent legal advice has greatly benefited the Encore and its owners. He has enabled the Encore to weather the inevitable bumps and conflicts in first few years following owner control of the condo association and put us on a more stable path for success.

I had an IRA investment that had gone bad due to the neglect of the manager of the hedge fund in which the IRA was invested. Tony met with me, and quickly got up to speed on the 6" stack of documents supporting my complex situation. Since the hedge fund was located in Oregon, and I live in Washington state, it was imperative that my attorney be licensed in both states, which Tony is. Thanks to his comprehensive grasp of the situation, he wrote a compelling letter to the hedge fund manager on my behalf. Fortunately, we did not have to resort to filing a lawsuit, but Tony instead was able to negotiate an excellent settlement. The settlement took several months to negotiate, but Tony kept after it, and made sure it didn't languish. After the settlement agreement was signed, he kept on top of the payment schedule, and even had to press for payment in a couple of instances. At this point, all but the final payment have been received, and I fully expect to receive that final one as well! Throughout the process, Tony responded quickly to my emails, and was very professional. He provided sound advice, and was a firm negotiator on my behalf. He was a delight to work with, and I highly recommend him!

Dillon Smith as a fantastic attorney. He represented me in a civil trial recently. If not for him I would have lost the case and I could have also potentially ended up going to jail because of the accusations someone else had been claiming about me. I interviewed two other attorneys before deciding to hire Mr. Smith. He seemed the most knowledgeable on the subject matter in the particular area of law that I needed representation for. He won the case for me and the petitioner didn't stand a chance. During the hearing, the petitioner put on a full dog and pony show, The judge was very biased towards me as well (perhaps I reminded her of someone she doesn't like or she was buying into the petitioners entire act) However, Mr. Smith was extremely professional and stuck to the facts of the case - as well as pointing out the lack of solid evidence - and in the end we prevailed. Had we not won, I could have also suffered financial loss due the petitioners claims. I am very thankful for Mr. Smiths help. He is a remarkably talented and top notch attorney. He is also a terrific human being. He sincerely cares about his clients. He went the extra mile for me, putting in lots of leg work and thoroughly researching every part of the case in order to reach the outcome I was hoping for. I highly recommend him. Ten stars!
