My parents divorce case has been going on for years. Ava has not acted professionally with emails or phone calls. As the child involved in this case, divorce is heartbreaking situation for everyone involved, ESPECIALLY when one parent is mentally ill and more communication is needed in order to legally end things. She has the ability to file a motion to help my mother and has not. I would love to change this review when my parents’ divorce is finally over after this 5 year long battle.

Definitely one of the worst lawyers I ever came across! She lies! She don’t answer any of your calls or emails. Some people just don’t care and she is one of them . I suppose to been had my kids if my lawyer was doing they job. It’s sick and heartbreaking when she called and said my kids was released to me and still nothing happened. I called cps and they said my lawyer knows what to do and she still has not got the ball rolling. It’s ridiculous!

Beth is down right mean and harbors anger. None of what she does professional. She is sneaky and conniving. What she say and tells a child to do is not her place. Telling a minor wrong information and adding fuel to the fire instead if preserving the family. Do not hire her!

Horrible! This guys wears a mask all the time and you can still smell his gum disease. Doesn’t respond to emails until it’s 2 am. Has immature comments to say to the other party and their lawyer without ever addressing your concerns. Family court is not his thing. Might be good at collecting dirt and speaking in renascence lingo but not a family lawyer at all. Had him as a hire and a court appointed I could not get rid of until I hired new. He is always late to court, never does a pre trial discussion. His office looks worse than my first college apartment! RUN from this “man” as fast as you can!

I payed Mr Laughlin quite a bit if money for representation!! Said representation was poor and inadequate several motions could face been asked of the court but Mr Laughlin just said no they don’t don that type of thing. The next client represented by different council. Asked and recieved.
I had asked Mr Laughlin about representation in a seoerate matter week 2 to be exact
He split obliged!!! And that’s where it’s ended he completely let me hanging had an excuse for not replying to my emails time after time I called the office they days let’s make an appt to meet. I consulted with Ms. Halk in December of 2013. She walked me through the steps and beside me for 4 1/2 years. She was compassionate, educated, level headed and fair. She was the strength that helped me endure the worst. She did everything she could to help me get my fair settlement as we were dealing with a very vindictive ex. All my fears were put to rest with her knowledgeable advice. She never made me feel like I was bothering her and was very amenable when it came to my finances. Her fee is fair. She is not about the money like so many attorneys are. She is extremely kind but firm. If she doesn't think you are upfront with her she will refer you to someone who would be a better fit. She educates you as well. By the end of my divorce, I feel like I knew the law as well. She will never lead you astray. She even took the time to make my daughter feel comfortable at a very tumultuous time in her life. I would highly recommend Carolyn. Her staff is just as kind and helpful.....We are now friends.

I hired Carolyn for a custody order that was change on me after I left the courtroom. She had agreed to take my case she Drew up the motion but she never got us a date to get in front of the judge I spent 2 years after that trying to get in touch with them I called send emails I even went into the office but no one would ever see me or call me back. Finally over 2 years later I spoke to her she said that she defended me for what I hide her for and that she was done with a case but that is not true we never went to court. So I said give me my paperwork back and the rest of my retainer and I will move on she claims she sent me a bill two months before stating that my retainer was used but it was not true I was not in contact with them for 2 years why would they send me a bill 2 months earlier did not make sense so I spent 2500 wasted 2 years and I am back where I started user beware read this carefully and think twice.

He is unprofessional, unresponsive and not interested in giving a professional advice but rather in harming one party as much as he can- that’s his strategy. Every good lawyer would advise his client on all fronts, would inform him on pro and cons but Ira Bierman is a nasty person. He’s not interested in truly helping, not to mention that he is absolutely unresponsive. Knowledge is great, but so is being professional and decent person. Something he hasn’t acquired in all these years he has been practicing law.

Mr. Phillips handled my first divorce and, to the extent one can say he is pleased when getting divorced, I was very pleased with the outcome. I got excellent advice and was always better informed about what to expect and what was happening than my former wife throughout the process.
Over the years, I had questions which arose in connection with a possible prenuptial agreement and thoughts of remarrying. Ultimately, Ron prepared a prenuptial agreement which was executed by my now wife and I; it took a lot of the anxiety out of getting remarried after the first unpleasant go-around.
While I never felt I was over billed, divorces can be expensive when your spouse gets stubbornly stupid and drags the divorce out hoping for a better outcome than she was told to expect by her attorney. The outcome predicted by Mr. Phillips was fairly accurate and my ex-wife really thought it was unfair.
I also had Family Court questions over the years due to my children making their own mistakes. Mr. Phillips explained what was happening and took a lot of the anxiety a parent experiences when their children are involved with their own disputes.
I can only say I highly recommend Mr. Phillips. Experience counts and he has it.

Karen was assigned as the attorney for the child in my case, and it was a nightmare. She is supposed to tell the judge what the children want, but she does not do this. I think she lies to the judge regarding what the children tell her to suit her own agenda, which is usually in favor of the wealthier parent. She will say the children are confused or not sure what they want even when the children are begging to see the other parent more. I think she is not representing the child’s best interests. She becomes more powerful than the other side’s attorney against you, and then she bills and bills and bills to leave you with no money to defend yourself. If she is assigned to your case, do whatever you can to object or have her removed. She is the worst thing that happened to my divorce case.

I have known Jeff for years, as he shared an office with my attorney. He always seemed to be advocating for people in bad spots. Over a week ago I asked my attorney for his contact information as I have an issue with a storage unit that is leased in my building. Today is Friday and when I called to tell them I needed his help he told me it would have to wait until Monday. I included him on a copy of an email exchange - he called me back and told me he needed to respond immediately. He took that initiative and I am looking forward to a positive outcome. That kind of response is what you need in an advocate.

Jeff McAdams is AN OK ATTORNEY who is personable, caring, and professional, and who will represent you in a satisfactory manner. This Ivy educated barrister is a one-man show who is professorial in personality and style, generally trustworthy, but more of a negotiator than a litigator. A big possible problem with Jeff, however is that he is notorious for NOT returning phone calls to clients in a timely manner, and quite frankly, hopelessly lost and/or forgetful in tracking his cases without his able assistant. BOTTOM LINE: CLIENT BEWARE: If you can put up with unanswered messages left at his office, not being informed of the progress of your case, and wondering when work is going to be finished, then stick with him, otherwise out of frustration you'd be wise to find an attorney or law firm that is better able to be more attentive to your legal needs.

I initially gave my retainer to Mr. Simon in Nov. 6th 2023’. After numerous attempts to retrieve my retainer. I received a text message Sunday April 21st 2024 asking if I have Zelle. I assumed I was going to receive my $5000. However it is now June 24th 2024 and have not received a dime. He never filed any paper work for me. I never signed any documents except for the receipt for the initial deposit. All I want is my retainer returned.

After he got his retainer he did nothing. No document production, no motion to get documents from prior counsel. Seven months. He told me nothing. He even tried settling my case without my knowledge. I know because I saw his email from another counsel. He must have made a deal with the other side without my knowledge because he harmed me terribly in my case.

Doug has worked on my case tirelessly for over a year. His knowledge of the law and consideration of an exceedingly delicate situation has been extraordinary. He has both been incredibly professional and personable. I would recommend Doug to anyone who is in need of someone that is both caring and requires an attorney who is well-versed in the nuances of the law.
In my case, Doug was able to change a seemingly impossible situation - an "onion that needed to be peeled layer by layer" as he put it. He is very thoughtful of the fact that my ex is extremely abusive and helped prepare me for what abusers typically make their next steps. In doing so, I have been better able to care for my children in devastating circumstances. He also has helped me better understand the legal process and what is typical vs atypical in the court room. Having that background, the legal jargon and proceedings were easier to comprehend in what has previously been very overwhelming.

I had an attorney and was not happy with her services. I consulted several lawyers, all of whom wanted my case for a significant retainer. I consulted with Mr. Barics who reviewed my case, and said that my current counsel was properly representing me. He explained in detail what should be done and what to do if the judge didn't do what she was supposed to do.
I was ready to change lawyers, and Mr. Barics was high on the list. However, his honesty in telling me to stay with my current counsel and declining to accept a large retainer is worthy of mention.
I stayed with my existing attorney, and the case proceeded nearly exactly how Mr. Barics predicted it would.
I did not retain Mr. Barics then, but I am impressed he would decline a client when he felt the client was properly represented with current counsel.
My former attorney has since retired and if I need new counsel Mr. Barics would be my first choice.

I was in a pannic and needed a family court lawyer asap. Joel is the only person to anwser and give me advise right away. I filed all papers and met with him the sane day. He stayed in contact and did everything he was suppose to do. I was so happy with his services and then about 6 months into the case it became harder and harder to get ahold of him. He wouldn't anwser calls or emails court dates were coming up and I had no idea because there was no communication. I really feel he didn't fight for me either. I was out of state so to him this was easy and free money. I got sick of everything and everyone came to an agreement so the case finally came to a end. I never received any of the paperwork so 1.5 months away from me suppose to pick up my daughter I start calling and emailing Joel. A course no anwser or reply then one morning I get a call from my daughter "Dad we are here". Thanks a lot Joel for your unprofessional lack of communication. You made me miss another chance to see my daughter.

Renee came appointed by the court to be my childs attorney. She no showed multiple appointments, a court date and a meeting with my childs school she scheduled via zoom where they gathered administration and she never showed up. She was unresponsive to emails, preparation for court and prior to our scheduled trial date she made no contact for 4 months prior to,before, during or after trial.
She is assigned by the court to advocate for the childs wants and recommended what she feels is best for the child and his safety. How can this be done without ever speaking to the child or receiving updates and contact with the medical professionals or primary parent over seeing his healing and progress? You can’t.
My advice. Demand another attorney for your child if you are given Renee, one who cares about children and their safety and emotional and physical well being.

I hired Robyn because my ex-wife puts up hurdles against me seeing our daughter and I went to court to enforce an agreement we made. The court case was initiated by me and Robyn was later hired by me to support my cause. She also initiated a case in Supreme Court for which she appeared unprepared. I then decided that her support was actually not helping my cases. I also have strong reservations about her knowledge of the law which is limited since she gave me wring advice in several instances, such as the deadline to perfect an appeal in Manhattan Appeals Court which she said was six months but in fact is nine months (not the only instance of obvious mistakes). Other issues were here representing me in court which went better for me without her.
