Paul Ford was a beast in court! He was extremely aggressive I’m my defense and I didn’t have to say a word before all my charges were dismissed. Stand up guy that doesn’t cheerlead. He tells you what to expect from step one. I’ve recommended him to everybody I know.

Attorney Paul N. Ford has not failed me yet! He (Attorney Paul N. Ford) and others has just recently started on my case, and I appreciate so far his/their endeavor to do what is require, and do it effectively and well. Attorney Paul N. Ford was recommended to me by another Attorney whose Law Firm was over an hundred miles away. He (the Attorney miles away) stated to me that Paul N. Ford or Ford and Cook Law Firm was one of the Best Law Firm nearest to my county. And I thank God for that great recommendation, that prompt me to place a call to Attorney Paul N. I used Paul Ford several years ago in a medical malpractice case and right before the time was up he decided he couldnt do it and instructed me to find someone else. Dealing with a death from malpractice then having to deal with an atty who pushed the limits was too much. I had to just drop the case and was terribly upset over the whole situation.

If you want to waste money, and get a lawyer that isn't worth a wooden nickel, then look no further. In my current case, Mr. Wann failed to show up for my conditions of bond hearing, failed to get my charges amended after the crime lab report came back, caused me to fail to appear, and wouldn't get the warrant lifted, yet was able to file a motion to withdraw. Hes as worthless as the day is long. I'm reporting him to the bar and more.

One meeting with Jeremy and he had my mind at ease and was a tremendous help with explaining everything! He kept in touch with us thru the whole process. He is very patient and caring and you know he has your best interest at heart! We will use Jeremy for all of our legal needs and we recommend him to everyone we know! He is fantastic!

I went to Ben Crabtree for help with an adoption case. He seemed fine until after I paid his retainer. my case was not a big money case as most of the work had already been done. After he received the retainer, he was very short when I tried to ask questions. He even criticized me for asking too many questions telling me that my case was not priority to him. I stopped trying to keep up with what was going on. He then reached a tentative agreement with the opposing lawyer. he called me asking me to agree to their terms without me even seeing anything in writing. . When I did not agree to the terms, he literally said this has been going on for some time now and I don't understand what the problem is. If he had been paying attention, he would have understood. I explained to him what had to be in the agreement for me. He called back and told me the other side agreed and I accepted. After, He did not send me a statement or anything regarding money. I knew I should get much of my retainer back because we did not go to court. I have called twice asking for a statement and a refund of unused retainer. The last time I called he said he would get it to me that week and that has been over 3 weeks ago. I felt uncomfortable with him from the start.

Mr. Ethridge has proven to us a very busy man , yet has shown us that his clients are always on his mind and his job. At first we had our doubts as he is difficult to touch base. We've learned since that a good lawyer is busy and that we are not the only people he is helping. We literally had no conversation with him upon the pretrial. Once we arrived he had total control and knew exactly what was up . Seeing how we were able to finally gather the funds only a couple weeks before the pretrial and found him through high recommendation he knew exactly what to do and handled it well. We seen a man in control with absolutley no sign of lack of confidence. Facing 3 life sentences and being totally innocent we tend to be freaking out of the unknown. It's easy to ask why my attorney does not comfort me. The attorneys job is not to comfort it's to gather the facts and put them to work and Shane after the pretrial, gave us time to worry about us and let him worry about shedding light on the truth. His demeanor alone showed us that this man cares and we know that if he was not able to get this done nobody could. It's a relief to have found a lawyer that's not a fast talking , silver tongue that only cares if the check clears. Thank you Mr. Ethridge.

His office was a shambles, which he explained away as moving mess. He looked a mess, himself, which he excused as painting his new office. Look for a complaint to be filed against him for inappropriate attorney conduct.

LETTER OF COMPLAINT: OF THE THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY, DANIEL HANEY I think Mr. Haney took advantage of the situation, in that, I was representing myself. For instance, I turned over my entire defense presentation, to Mr. Haney, who I met on the phone 5 days, before my trial. When he called me, he seemed quite nice. I remember, he apologized to me “three times,” for having just, received my case. Also, he said, that he was, "very sorry," he “could not, dismiss my case"… "Because, it's just too late, to dismiss it. Being only days before my trial. It's just, Not Possible,” he told me, for him to dismiss my case, that soon, before my trial. I thought it was odd, for a D.A. to apologize, to me. But I took it, as a hopeful sign. Not that he would be a pushover; Just that I would have a fair trial. I assured him, that "It’s alright! I don’t want you to dismiss it. I'm looking forward to going to trial. All I really want, is an opportunity to speak my defense. And that is more important to me, than winning or losing. I've wanted to speak my case, from the very beginning, since, no law enforcement person, had yet, allowed me to do so." Mr. Haney, congratulated me. And he encouraged me, heartily, for defending myself. He said, he encourages everyone to defend themselves, if they feel like, they have something to say, about their situation. I felt relieved and greatly encouraged, that this “kind man,” would be my D.A.! Now, I’ll just make a few points about my trial… 1. I sent Mr. Haney, all my defense presentation/discovery, as quickly, as I could complete my documentation. I also, sent him, my three part video… Including…. a. Evidence of “Police Tampering.” On an unplayable,” DVD, that I had “finally,” received, from the Heber Springs Police Department, after 5 months of requesting it. It was “alledgedly,” the Body Cam Video, from my arrest. b. Self videos…taken before my arrest, demonstrating my intentions of staying safe and my conscientiousness as a safe driver. c. My testimony, as I felt it needed to presented. 2. I didn’t receive any discovery, from Mr. Haney, before my trial. However, 4 day afterwards, I noticed that he did email me, the body cam footage, that I had yet to obtain, myself. It was sent to him by Samantha Tharp, the Chief of Police’s Secretary. So Mr. Haney, emailed me the 3 video files, the day before my trial. But only "One Day," to receive something like this….that could make or break my case…was far too short of notice, for me, or for anyone. Had I received it sooner…it would have broadened my defense, considerably. The Body Cam Evidence was "Highly Edited"…And it was 100% edited, in the officer’s favor. 3. So, the District Attorney, received it, from the Chief of Police’s secretary, Samantha Tharp. The 3 video files, that have her name on each. Along with the information, that they were "last modified,” right before my trial. It's impossible to summarize, all the editing done, to this footage. It was a huge undertaking, by more than one officer. It is 100% against me, and of course, all in the officer’s best interests. It was “fairly,” evident, that this “edited version,” was done.. After…the arresting officer, had seen my defense video, that I made for court. Because great care was taken, to erase everything, that I “correctly,” said in my testimony. The "Editors," created, a video, that made me appear stupid, and guilty, of being high. It’s almost, entirely faked in many ways. And this was "allowed," to be played in court. Without the judge allowing, my own, defense video, to be played. So, the police tampered video, was the D.A.'s main offense in his prosecution. This highly offensive and faked discovery of body cam evidence. If the body worn camera video footage, was unedited, it would have proved everything, I said, in my video defense

Daniel helped us through two cases, one involving a district court and the other against Human Services. In the negotiation during a criminal trial he negotiated that I be prosecuted under an Act where I don't plead guilty and the charges dismissed upon completion of my probation instead of having a record for the rest of my life. The strategy worked to get charges that were pending from DHS dismissed. He is a thorough attorney, and I am thankful he took our case.

Did a great job beating an attempted protection order an abusive mother was attempting to get on me, but then wouldn’t do anything to enforce the judges decision resulting in a complete break down in communication. As the typical beta male attorney He is use to helping alienate fathers so the mother of your child could be doing actual harm to your child but hurting her feelings in your response will result in him empathizing with her and not doing his job. Maybe he’s good for single moms trying to destroy their kids, single fathers should avoid. (Plenty of money being a scummy parental alienation profiteer).

Outstanding Service Edit Review for Joshua Eason | Submitted on 7/26/21 (Review Approved) I got the opportunity to hire Josh Allen, an attorney in Josh Eason’s office. While Josh Allen was great and did an excellent job representing me in my custody case, I was also thankful that Josh Eason came to the courthouse to show his support. It is cool to feel like the entire office is there to help! There was a break in the action in court so I didnt find out my decision until after lunch. However, I told Josh that his strategy was outstanding and that I couldn’t be happier. This was before the verdict! Needless to say, after the verdict I was even happier. No one wants to go to court but these guys are worth every penny. Josh Allen has a very calming demeanor and I really needed his relaxed approach to calm me down. I could only give 5 stars but it was well worth 10! Hire these guys for your situation!

She was supposedly my children's lawyer through my divorce appointed by the courts. Seems more like she was my ex's lawyer. During the 6th month case I called twice to discuss different things and left a voicemail. I got a call back maybe 3 weeks to a month later, by that time I didn't even need nor want her involved. My lawyer couldn't get in contact with her when he needed to and said she was hard to get a hold of. She also told my lawyer that she needed to do a walk through before the court date to make sure my house was okay for my children. She wouldn't tell him what day she was going to come because she wanted it to be a surprise. That was about 3 months into a 6 month case. She never showed up. So apparently my children's safety was not that important to her. At the courthouse on the last day of the case she hung out with my ex and my ex's lawyer and avoided me like the plague then sent me a bill. There's much better lawyers out there who will actually respond to you when they're involved in your case. This is just my opinion. I don't know anything about Acacia other than being involved in my case, but I can understand when the other review says that she's hard to get a hold of.

Bob saved my life. In one day, I went from a normal citizen to facing 40 years of felony charges. No other attorney would even consider the possibility that I was innocent (and I was), let alone the possibility that I could beat the case. But Bob did. And he beat the case within 60 days. The judge and prosecutor all but apologized to me. There's nothing like the weight of criminal charges hanging over your head, and when you're in that situation you want to know that you have someone who is on your side, someone who will fight for you. I trusted Bob with my life, and it was the best decision I ever made. He never sugar-coated anything either. He always told me what the possibilities were and that I was up against a big battle. But if there were any way possible to beat the case, he promised me he would find it. And he did! Another thing, I felt like I was a priority, and not just another client in a mill. I could reach him any time of day or night, in multiple forms of communication. You won't find that with anyone else in town. He works multiple cases and still has the ability to make you feel like you're his only client. I could go on for days, but my point is simple: hire him and you won't regret it.

I paid Hubert $3,000 for one minute in court and he did nothing he sent his son but absolutely did nothing it was never even brought up. He was also supposed to try to get him out of probation and failed to even ask for that as well all that was done was his probation was reinstated and I didn't even need a lawyer for that. $3,000 for nothing I feel that he stole my money.

Mr Phillips was great. He came recommended from a friend. I had a long nasty divorce. I was paying a female attorney out of Benton, every time I turned around. Worst part was, she didn't do anything in 2 years but file for divorce. She was a money hungry high profile woman who didn't care about me as a person. She must have just seen do$$ar signs in my eyes when she looked at me. Mr Phillips was fairly priced. There is no cheap divorce people. $500 won't get you a good attorney. Believe me! Mr Phillips cared about me as a person and gave me legal guidance that honestly impacted my life today. He was a God sent. It was about 6 months and I was divorced. It was back in 2010. He was compassionate towards myself and my children. A great family man that understands what a marriage Should be like. He put my abusive husband in his place, using the proper legal system. I can't say enough great things about Mr Phillips. I would trust him again and again!

The professionalism of this attorney is unheard of. I hired this attorney for a simple MVA accicent in June 2020 that was an open and shut case. I was hit from the back and was injured. I followed every step that she told me to and to date the case is not closed. She is not responsive and always has an excuse as to why things are not being handled. Once called out about the behavior she became very belligerent and vindictive. When I would call to ask simple questions she would get rude and try to talk around the issue. Once I emailed her to terminate the agreement she agreed that it was time to end the attorney/ client relationship and that I could pick up my file a few days later. I then get an email from her paralegal stating that I needed to download my file and that The Attorney put a lein on my case. The lien is in attempts to prevent me from settling my case. Once I reached out to her via email regarding the lein she then threatned me with a harrassment charge. I would not reccommend this attorney to anyone. I think she is a good person persay however her perfossionalism is not commendable. I trusted this lady and was highly disappointed especially with she openly confesses to being a woman of the "cloth

Also, she has NO CLUE about your case when she calls and is so unprepared! Her receptionist also has NO CLUE about your case no matter how many times you call to speak with Angela. He could have saved the trouble of waiting by stating that he didn't have time. He has wasted two years on my case with no progress made since 2014.

I have dealt with many attorneys with different areas of practice and in several states. I have never met an attorney so knowledgeable and attentive. My first phone call to Mr. Orta absolutely astonished me with his ability to think outside the standard protocol of advisement. Most attorney's don't take the time to think of ALL possibilities. Like I said, I have never been so impressed overall. I will use him in every possible situation from now on. If you need someone for criminal defense or immigration law, this law firm is where to go.

Attorney Davis is very unprofessional and a horrible Lawyer. I feel that he did not represent a my case in a professional manner! Maybe it's because it wasn't a case he felt that would put as much money in his pockets as his other cases. Hmm, but I thought if he agreed to take on a case, he should treat it as important as his other cases, but I thought wrong. Again he is a horrible Lawyer and would never recommend him to my worst enemy.

He represented my son , charged me $8500.00 to do so and would not got to trials d sent his under dog to court when was the one hired to represent my son, then they convinced my son to say he was guilty to all the charges and it's not right to not at least investigate the charges . Instead Clay might as well been prosecuting my son there was no defence .

When I initially spoke with Clay he seemed interested in taking my case if I were to be charged and also said he would call me if a warrant was put out for my arrest so that I could turn myself in. He never called so I was arrested unexpectedly. I called him several times to set up appointments and he nor his secretary called back. They could have at least called to let me know that he was no longer interested in my case or was too busy to take it on. Either way I feel like the situation was handled unprofessionally.

Mr. Dennis represented me and won when every other attorney in the area didn't believe me and tried to get me to plead guilty to something I didn't do. He did a great job and I got justice.

Do not hire Carl! I have never worked with someone who is so unresponsive! I would send emails and leave phone messages and would wait weeks for a response. Once he responded he seemed rushed and was often time condescending. I was consistently given misinformation. If I could give less than 1 star I would.

I have hired Carl as my bankruptcy lawyer I will say he is the and has been the most outgoing lawyer I have ever met because even when his hometown flooded out and he couldn't make(which he tried to make it to his office but they had shut surrounding bridges down) our meeting we met with his assistant but Carl was on the phone walking him through it and constantly telling us he was sorry he has been very understanding in our situation and has dealt with our million dumb questions and not once made us feel bad or acted like the questions were dumb. I would recommend this lawyer a million times over.

I hired Tom when I was in desperate need of some one not only to stand by me but fight for me. It was the most important case of my life. My children and I depended on him to fight for our future as a family. Not only was this actually in the best interest of everyone involved but it was his job that I had paid him for in advance. But neither seemed to matter much to him. Not moral nor professional responsibility concerned him, I learned far too late. As he kept reassuring me that he would preform according to my request, I reluctantly trusted him because I was other wise completely alone and this was my first time dealing with legal system. I trusted him only reluctantly because A) I wanted him to bring to light some important issues that I felt strongly about yet, he listened to most of what I was trying to tell him with a look of annoyance and dismissal. B) Tom Smith had not an ounce of compassion or understanding towards how serious and devastating this was for me. C) when I made a mistake that was quite human and hardly devastating to my case, I told Tom about it. He was inappropriately angry as if it was personal. He reacted by picking up his huge law book which lay in front of him and literally went to strike me over the head with it, barely stopping short. D) I got a strange feeling when I would mention my rights or the constitution and he would shut me down really fast by telling me that "better not mention the constitution in this courtroom." And by reprimanding me as if I were a child for putting in a request for the freedom of information act. Saying "it'll only make things bad for me." Later I learned that I was on the right track all along. If we had fought using my method I would've been better off if only just because, at the very least my side would've been heard. Mr. Smith completely refused to speak on my behalf in front of the judge like I had counted on him to do. Although I reminded him in court that day. First, by whispering, then by writing it down and placing it in front of him and last, as my frustration grew, by elbowing him and giving him a swift kick to the shin as the judge ruled not in my favor, and I saw the most important thing in my life slip away. He was lucky because he deserved far worse than a controlled tantrum. All because of my decision made out of desperation and an attorney's unknown motive my life has been ruined beyond redemption. I fight still, 4 years later and will not give up until I have my children safe with me. But the time that goes by is time forever lost.

I hired her for a custody battle I was having with my ex & for our first meeting she came to my house bringing her kid & just "assumed" that I could have my sons keep him busy playing. She NOT ONCE did anything we had discussed going into the court room & saying/doing!!In court when she was supposed to be defending me but she NEVER did AT ALL! Just stood at the podium & basically AGREED to EVERYTHING(w/o even asking me) my P.O.S ex was doing & just like FROZE when it came time to speak up about everything that we had planned & decided! After court my grandfather was FURIOUS with how she treated him when he was trying to ask her why she wasn't doing anything.Very rudely she just stuck her hand up to his face & continued to tell us the same thing the judge had already said to us & raising her voice to speak over him!We paid her $1500 to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for us in court!!

What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
