Mr. Lampiasi represented me on a larceny case. Unfortunately I have a need for multiple criminal lawyers throughout my life. Bret Lampiasi was hands down the most competent lawyer I have ever had! He returns your phone calls in a quick and timely manner and is passionate about every case he handles. He does not judge the client for the crime they are accused of and has a very impressive knowledge of the law on many different levels besides criminal. I was innocent in my case and he proved it in court. I would highly recommend Bret Lampiasi as attorney.

Attorney Moriarty was guiding light in two recent home transactions. He went the extra mile on numerous occasions. Facilitated all communications between us, the bank, and the other party. Gave advice and guidance about every signed document, never taking anything lightly. My wife and I felt fortunate to have such a person in our corner. I would highly recommend his services.

she is a very good lawyer and will tell you like it is even if you don't want to her it. she is very good with the DA's and will always look out for your interests. she is good at picking apart all the facts of the case and using them to our advantage and will not be intimidated by the DA's or sell her clients out. But she does tell you like it is even if you don't want to here it. I recommend her she is great.

Mr. Wibby came into my life while I was going through a hard time. This man represented me with honor and dignity. If it weren't for his hi spirit and overall great personality I would not have held my head so hi in such a dark time in my life. This man not only got me a great deal in the court room he continued to check up on my progress as a human while I was facing such a hardship on my own. He left a mark on me that I will never forget and will forever be grateful for both his representation and the overall "got getter" attitude that he left on me. This man is not only the best representation that I was blessed to have on my side but an overall good human being in general. I personally would highly recommend this man to anybody looking for a great lawyer.

I was very pleased with Peter's legal advice. He has plenty of experience with clients dealing with probation related legal proceedings and that was comforting. I found him to be forthright and realistic as well as quoting a very fair price for his services. Peter's motion for early termination was well written, informed, and quite convincing. He was able to get a tough judge to grant the motion even with an aggressive prosecutor fighting the other side. I could not have been happier with the outcome.

Let's face it you could hire the most expensive attorney you can find but doesn't guarantee you quality service. Like any other profession thier work day becomes routine and they can just be going threw the motions for a paycheck .Having a personal friend that is a court appointed attorney,I'm well aware of what little effort a lot of attorneys put into any particular case. Matthew not only explained everything to me but did so with passion. This is extremely important, otherwise your attorney is just going threw the motions. Thaw day we appeared in court I had asked about a date on a future case. Matthew wasted no time finding the date for me but more important had it included with the present case. He saved me from having to return to court but also did this for free. I think I've established that Matthew enjoys his work and is a great guy but that doesnt get you off the charge. Well without giving too much deatail about my case. I was looking at drug testing ,suspended license for a year, supervised probation, weekly counseling, and if course a drug convixtion on my record. Thanks to Matthew ,I have my license ,I don't have to get tested ( I would pass) or go to counseling ,I don't have any supervised probation and most important ,I don't have a drug conviction on my record. Being a full time student ,I could not afford to get this charge or else I would lose my financial aid. He also saved me a bunch of money on the second case which was driving violations. I will never loom elsewhere for an attorney even though I have a personal friend that would work for me at no charge. Whether it is for a driving offence, criminal ,or family court, you want Matthew by your side. I know he will be on mine. Thanks for reading and good luck

Pauline took on my case and I had myself in a rut. Pauline Listened intently, took my calls, returned them & even worked with me late into the PM hours. This attorney never rested. I told her everything & she listened & never made me feel rushed. Caring, Sensitive & just absolutely a top shelf attorney. Pauline had excellent rapport with the Court & kept me updated and in line throughout. I would hire her all week long and twice on Sunday she’s simply that amazing. I might add as I got to know her she’s quite an amazing person as well. (& I’ve had many attorneys) PAULINE IS AWESOME! I am so THANKFUL for all she has done & she did allot! Every problem I presented / had Pauline had an answer for. Answered every question I had (& I had a ton) & did it so ethically & with such class. One time I had Court & wasn’t able to get there. Pauline said be ready at such and such time & I will come get you. AND SHE DID! Then she kept me out of trouble (and I was truly innocent But Pauline still had to prove it & wow… she just handled it) …PAULINE CORMIER is the example of what attorneys should be like… She may never see this but in the event she does… THANK YOU PAULINE CORMIER. You are AWESOME.

I was accused of doing something that I had not done. I had to go all the way to trial to vindicate my name. I was facing a jail sentence if I did not take a plea offer and were to lose at trial. Mr. Roy held confidence in me and believed in me as well. We took this matter to trial and I was acquitted. Mr. Roy Was terrific. He did his homework, stayed in constant contact with me and was very straight forward with pro's and con's. If anyone needs an attorney that will fight for you relentlessy, then Contact Paul lonardo Roy in Hyannis Ma. My name is jeremy carlisle and was a client in 5-10-2011

I had Paul represent me in an unfounded complaint. He was very professional, he took the time to try to talk to the plaintiff and explain how it was unfounded and that they were wasting everyone's time including their own. He did this in the hallway and explained it in detail as to why. We ended up in front of the judge and the judge almost verbatim explained what Paul already had. That is was baseless and unfounded, the plaintiff actually left the courtroom in tears after being chastised by the judge. I was so thankful for having Paul there to both try to reason with the plaintiff and explain how unjust it was to the judge.

Martsyl Joseph is a very conscientious lawyer who doesn't just look at all the legal aspects of a case, but also realizes that there are individuals involved. She is very responsive to any e-mails, phone calls, texts or requests to meet in person. In my particular case she actually came to the site that was being contested and that is the personal touch that she provides. Therefore when she represents you in court, you know that she knows the situation first hand and can speak about it effectively and understands the gravity of the matter because she took the time to know your particular situation personally. Martsyl Joseph also let's you know when she isn't always sure about a legal aspect of the case, however she gets back to you as soon as she does the research for the best course of action. There wasn't any aspect of her representation that was unsatisfactory. I certainly would recommend Martsyl Joseph to anyone else that I know either just needs legal advice or representation.

Attorney Darst did a fine job in representing me in two matters, "winning" each one, convincingly. I had contacted her only a week before the first hearing, and the second hearing was the following week. I especially appreciated her taking on my case on such short notice, which then required her to spool up in a very short time. She did this very well, as evidenced by the positive outcome in each of the two matters. I would not hesitate to use her again or recommend her services to others.

What a Criminal Defense Lawyer Can Do for You

A criminal defense lawyer provides legal representation to individuals or organizations accused of criminal conduct. If you're facing criminal charges, a defense lawyer will work to protect your rights, build a defense strategy, and ensure you receive a fair trial. Their primary goal is to reduce or dismiss charges, secure an acquittal, or negotiate a favorable plea deal.

Criminal defense lawyers have extensive knowledge of criminal law and court procedures. They investigate your case, identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence, and represent you in court, ensuring that you have the best possible defense.

When Should I Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

It’s crucial to hire a criminal defense lawyer as soon as possible if you are facing any criminal charges. Some situations in which you should seek legal representation include:

  • Arrest or police questioning: If you've been arrested or are under investigation, hiring a lawyer early on can prevent self-incrimination and protect your rights during police questioning.
  • Felony charges: Crimes such as murder, assault, drug trafficking, or robbery carry severe penalties, including long prison sentences. A defense lawyer is essential in these cases.
  • Misdemeanor charges: Even for less serious offenses like DUI, theft, or simple assault, a lawyer can help reduce penalties, negotiate alternatives to jail, or get charges dismissed.
  • Plea negotiations: If you’re considering a plea bargain, a lawyer can evaluate the deal, advise you on its consequences, and negotiate for more favorable terms.
  • Probation or parole violations: If you’ve been accused of violating probation or parole, a lawyer can defend you against additional penalties or revocation.
  • Juvenile offenses: For minors charged with criminal acts, a criminal defense lawyer can protect their future by minimizing legal repercussions or keeping the case in juvenile court.

What Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Do?

Criminal defense lawyers provide comprehensive legal services to protect their clients’ rights throughout the criminal justice process. Their duties include:

  • Case evaluation and investigation: Reviewing the evidence, interviewing witnesses, and investigating the facts to develop a strong defense strategy.
  • Legal advice: Advising you on your rights, the charges you’re facing, and potential defense strategies, including whether to take a plea deal or go to trial.
  • Negotiating plea bargains: Working with prosecutors to negotiate a plea deal that could reduce charges or minimize penalties.
  • Court representation: Representing you in all court hearings, including bail hearings, pretrial motions, trials, and sentencing hearings.
  • Filing motions: Filing motions to dismiss charges, suppress evidence, or reduce bail, depending on the specifics of your case.
  • Trial preparation and defense: Preparing a defense strategy and presenting arguments, evidence, and witnesses during trial to contest the prosecution's case.
  • Appeals: If you are convicted, a defense lawyer can appeal the conviction or sentence, arguing errors in the trial process or legal rulings.

How Are Criminal Defense Lawyers Paid?

Criminal defense lawyers generally charge clients in one of three ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: For straightforward cases (e.g., minor misdemeanors), some lawyers charge a one-time flat fee that covers all aspects of the defense.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex or ongoing cases, lawyers may charge by the hour, with rates varying based on the lawyer’s experience and geographic location.
  • Retainer fee: In cases where extensive work is expected, the client may pay a retainer fee upfront. The lawyer then bills against that retainer for their work on the case.

The cost of criminal defense services can vary greatly, so it’s important to discuss fees during your initial consultation.

How Much Does a Criminal Defense Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a criminal defense lawyer depends on several factors, including the severity of the charges, the complexity of the case, and the lawyer’s experience. General cost guidelines are:

  • Misdemeanor cases: For relatively minor offenses, such as a DUI or petty theft, a flat fee may range from $1,500 to $5,000.
  • Felony cases: More serious charges, such as assault or drug trafficking, can range from $10,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on the complexity and duration of the case.
  • Hourly rates: For cases billed by the hour, lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on their expertise and the case's location.
  • Additional expenses: You may also be responsible for other costs, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, or the cost of private investigators.

Be sure to clarify the lawyer’s fee structure and any potential additional costs during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Criminal Defense Lawyer

Before hiring a criminal defense lawyer, you’ll want to ensure that they’re a good fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask:

  1. What is your experience with cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has a strong track record with the specific type of criminal charges you’re facing, whether it’s DUI, drug offenses, or violent crimes.
  2. What is your fee structure?
Ask how the lawyer charges for their services and whether you’ll be responsible for any additional costs.
  3. What are the potential outcomes of my case?
A good lawyer should provide an honest assessment of your case and the likelihood of dismissal, a plea bargain, or conviction.
  4. How many cases have you taken to trial?
While many criminal cases settle with a plea deal, it’s important to hire a lawyer with courtroom experience in case your case goes to trial.
  5. Who will handle my case?
Ask if the lawyer will be personally involved or if other attorneys in the firm will handle most of the work.
  6. How do you communicate with your clients?
Be clear on how often and through what channels you can expect updates on your case.

How to Check the Credibility of a Criminal Defense Lawyer

To verify the credibility of a criminal defense lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their standing with the state bar: Confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing with your state’s bar association. Look for any past disciplinary actions or complaints.
  • Read online reviews and testimonials: Platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google can provide insights from previous clients about the lawyer’s communication, professionalism, and case outcomes.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should have past clients or other professionals who can speak to their competence and work ethic.
  • Review their case history: Look at the lawyer’s website or professional profile to see their experience with criminal cases, including high-profile or complex cases.
  • Look for trial experience: If your case might go to trial, make sure the lawyer has a strong history of courtroom advocacy and success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your first consultation with a criminal defense lawyer, bring the following:

  • Details of your case: Be prepared to provide a detailed account of the charges against you, including any documents related to your arrest, police reports, and court dates.
  • Criminal history: If you have any prior criminal convictions, inform your lawyer so they can understand how that may affect your current case.
  • List of witnesses or evidence: If there are any potential witnesses or evidence that may support your defense, share this information during the consultation.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Prepare questions about their experience, legal strategy, and fees to ensure you understand how they will handle your case.
  • Bail or release documents: If you’ve been released on bail, bring any paperwork related to your release conditions or restrictions.

By being well-prepared, you can help your lawyer quickly assess your situation and begin building an effective defense strategy.
