I've worked with Jeff for all my business needs, e.g. contracts, legal advices, etc. for the past few years. What I found unique about Jeff is that he's extremely knowledgeable, yet very humble and if he's not 100% sure about something, he does his research and gets back to you. I retained Michael's services to help create a will and end of life directives for my brother who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Mike reached out to my brother and gathered the necessary information for creating the legal documents needed. Given the condition of my brother, Mike was able to gather the information, create the documents in just 2 days, and get the necessary notarized signatures from brother. I have never worked with a more efficient attorney. Mike understood immediately what documents were needed, and he had no issue with ensuring they were all in place quickly. He was extremely helpful to me and my family, and I could not have worked with a better attorney. I highly recommend Mike and will, without question, use his services again in the future should I need them.

Edward was kind to me and fought hard to defend my dad's will. He won for me everything. No settlement because I had the best. That is what Edward is: the best!

After my mom passed my sister was trustee of mom's trust. We had always been close, but my sister was doing things how she wanted not according to the trust. I was sad over my mom's death and I could hardly believe my sister was now not following mom's wishes. I went to see Ed because he does litigation. He made me feel sane! He listened to me. He understood my pain. He represented me and was able to get my sister to do the trust by the law. He even took the time (and did not charge me) to help my sister and I reconnect. Ed went the extra mile to protect my interests, both in the family trust my mom left and in my family. I am thankful I went with Ed. Not all lawyers are just like the jokes we all hear. Raquel put together my Living Trust/Will a few years ago. I was not looking forward to the process for obvious reasons, but also because the paperwork process seemed daunting. Raquel provided clear direction and took the time to explain and help me understand each section/item I was answering. This was extremely important since it is such an important document to make things easier for my adult children. I can't express enough how much I appreciate having found Steve to help me through a very complex and difficult probate. My grandfather passed away without a will or trust and a lot of assets and children that completely dislike each other - it's been messy to say the least.
I've worked in the legal profession for over 20 years and was referred to Steve Grant by an attorney I work with, as I personally didn't know anyone who specialized in Probate Law. One thing about probate law is that the court mandates or sets the attorney's fees based off of the value of the estate. The fee is also paid from / out of the estate... so you don't pay by the hour, so if you're reading this - you're probably searching for a good probate lawyer and wondering if you can afford a really good attorney, and in a probate situation, it's really up to you, the individual (aka the administrator of the estate) to find the best possible attorney (for the set fee that the estate will pay anyways). Someone that will give you their time, attention and expertise...someone who cares... Well, I'm thankful to have found Steve and that's why I'm even taking the time to write this...
In writing this review, I thought it might be helpful to list out the words that come to mind to describe Steve and what kind of a person/probate attorney he is to have on your side. Steve is:

Mr. Havens took the time to explain to my wife I every step in the process of preparing our family trust. He answered all of our questions and even furnished answers to several questions that we had not thought of. He was patient and thorough. The documents were prepared accurately the first time so we did not have to return for corrections or changes. We consider Mr. Havens the most honest Attorney at Law that we know of in California. We would recomment him to anyone needing his services.

I received a prompt response after E-mailing Barbara Craig, through AVVO. I was offered a free consultation immediately. Upon arriving at her office, my daughter and I were greeted very warmly, both by Barbara and her pet dog, Rosie. I was sent a notice to vacate my apartment, after nineteen years of residency. I believe the property agent who issued this notice, made a wrong decision as it was all based on slander. The agent refused to listen to my side and would not renege on this notice. Barbara listened carefully and reviewed the matter and explained why it would be difficult to fight. She was decisive and called this agent. She was very professional on the phone. The agent refused to withdraw the notice. Whilst I did not hire Barbara, I was overwhelmed with her generosity - what should have been a one hour free consultation (generous in itself), turned into a two and a half hour one! How many attorneys do that and expect nothing in return? She is a wonderful person and totally committed to her work and to helping people. I would definitely recommend her and would consult with her in the future, if I need a lawyer. She also has an extraordinary and interesting background, which I admire.

My partner and I dropped in to Mr. Wingerden's office this week while seeking counsel for my partner's criminal case. Long story short the SCC sheriff unlawfully arrested my partner (who is a retired criminal) & falsified the police report - quite poorly as a matter of fact (I give him an "F" for effort...) The public defender neither followed up with us nor provided the discovery we on several occasions requested, so 2 days before court we were extremely desperate after leaving the Public Pretender's office as (again) he was nowhere to be found. We dropped by Richard's office where we just so happened to catch him. He wasn't working that day but had stopped by the office briefly. I informed him that we had legal coverage through ARAG offered by my employer, and was hoping he could assist us considering he is a ARAG network attorney. Unfortunately, Richard doesn't handle criminal cases via ARAG anymore (only Family & Estate) but he sat down with us for an hour or so and did a free consultation. He listened patiently and even took notes as my partner recalled the events and facts surrounding his case, and as we voiced our concerns/frustrations. Richard was very easy to talk to and has a personality that makes you feel like you're talking to a friend. I really wanted to sign him on to help us fight our case despite the fact ARAG would not cover it. I explained that I would be getting a large tax return any day now, and would spend it all on him and pay the rest out of pocket. Other attorneys (like the one I hired years ago for a DUI case) would tell me to sign on the dotted line and not think twice about it. Not Richard - he said that he didn't feel that is was right to let us hire him since our financial situation is already a challenge, and he didn't want to take all our money. His compassion extended even further when he told us that despite this, we could call him should we have any questions or need advice at any point in the future for this case or anything else. He did give us some solid advice, which I then did utilize when the Public Pretender called our name 5 minutes before court. I reiterated what Richard had advised, and when my partner was called in front of the judge that day the PD requested a motion that we be presented with the officer's body cam footage. The prosecutor objected, and although the PD could barely fumble a plausible explanation as to why we needed the body cam footage (because you know...who needs all the evidence in a felony matter anyways, right??? Cops NEVER lie!) the judge ultimately granted the motion to get us that footage. Without telling the PD the points Richard advised, he definitely would not have successfully filed this motion and perhaps wouldn't have even tried. If I ever require legal counsel for Family or Estate litigation I will 100% without a doubt give Richard Wingerden a call. THANK YOU RICHARD, don't stop being A ROCKSTAR with a BIG HEART.

I spoke to Ms. Brown and her paralegal, Carol, a couple of months ago regarding the conservatorship of my daughter, who is in a longterm care facility. I talked to Carol several times before speaking to Ms. Brown. Based upon my experience with a previous attorney, I was taken by the compassion, understanding and kindness that Carol showed me in those initial encounters. She offered me some ideas for handling a particularly difficult situation before setting up an appointment with Ms. Brown. When the need became more pressing, I finally talked to Christine, who took a practical approach to the predicament in which I found myself and in the end, saved me from a prolonged court fight and significant fees. I can't recommend this firm highly enough. In my experience, there aren't many attorneys who will take on conservatorship matters as they can be fraught with emotion and contentiousness. These women have kind hearts and that is rare in the legal profession, whether due to training or personality. I found in this firm that it is possible to have compassion and still be professional.

Christine Brown and her staff made what we thought would be a very difficult process very easy. She has a wonderful sense of humor which is important in tense situations.

I hired Beti to represent me in a family dispute that had been brewing and knew would become extremely contentious. To save costs, Beti directed the associate lawyer who later left but then was replaced by another associate attorney, Lorne who was very detail oriented, responsive and capable. I was always advised honestly of what would happen. Beti and Lorne did not escalate any matter in order to pad their bill. Beti is a tough lawyer and not afraid to fight. But she and her associate always gave me the landscape of options and what would happen if I chose one option over the other. And when I did chose an option, they played a strong hand. It was a painfully emotional and protracted ordeal, and in the end, it concluded in a way that I still kept my rights, stopped the one upsmanship with the other side, and my restored my well-being.
