The firm does not care about morals or ethics. I used Taylor Stein as my attorney for a couple of years and he did nothing to advance my case. He let the opposing counsel continuously set court dates for us then cancel them. The firm’s secretaries are no better, I have been talking to Amy for months concerning my money back due to no services being given, she will lie and even just not respond to you. I have contacted the BAR and KSWO to let people know how this firm operates. Your money will be “in the final stages of being refunded” for months. CROOKS!

I have bee. Calling my attorney for days and can nor get them to call me back. I am currently in treatment out of state had court in witch the judge and DA as well as my attorney knowing I wasn't going to be there for my court and was faxed all the paper work showing where I am I'm treatment and because his secretary's not paying attrition or him one caused a warrant t o be put outfox my arrest. When I called with my counselor she tried to say we didn't fax all the paper work in but once she went ro his office and found we had stared to crawl dead backwards about it and said she would tell my attorney and contact the courts in which never happend. The courts told me my attorney would ha e to come and have it lifted but will not return my calls nor have the warrant lifted due to his mistake so I don't have anything good to say about the man.

Jesus wept. John 11:35 Gilmartin is ethically and morally bankrupt IMHO. He was worried about paper on the floor in a picture, but was careless with a could care less attitude about child psychological abuse and child neglect. Child that had oozing wounds on scalp from neglect of counter-parenting custodial parent. Tried to blame me for counter-parenting custodial parents neglect. Child abuser by association and in my opinion should be in prison. Then he has the gall to talk about freedom and the loss of rights on Facebook. Disgusting person that only cares about $$$. Child Psychological Abuse by the criminally insane is not in the best interest of a child. https://youtu.be/brNuwQNN3q4?si=zT_ckoVLfjOBVDQj Children who are alienated and fiercely defend their abusive parent often do so due to complex psychological dynamics. This behavior can stem from a variety of factors, including: ‼️ Trauma Bonding: Children may develop a strong bond with an abusive parent due to the cyclical nature of abuse, wherein moments of kindness or normalcy are interspersed with abusive behavior. This can create a sense of loyalty and attachment to the abusive parent. ‼️ Manipulation and Coercion: Abusive parents often manipulate and coerce their children into defending them, either through direct emotional manipulation or by instilling fear of consequences if they speak out against the abuse. ‼️ Self-Preservation: Children may defend their abusive parent as a means of self-preservation, especially if they fear retaliation or abandonment if they speak out against them. ‼️ Psychological Defense Mechanisms: Children may employ psychological defense mechanisms such as denial, rationalization, or dissociation to cope with the cognitive dissonance of loving someone who harms them. ‼️ Identity and Belonging: Children may identify strongly with the abusive parent as a way to maintain a sense of identity and belonging within the family dynamic, even if that identity is tied to abuse. ‼️ External Influence: External factors such as societal norms, cultural beliefs, and pressure from other family members or authority figures can also influence a child's defense of their abusive parent. It's essential to approach these situations with empathy and understanding, recognizing the complexity of the child's emotions and experiences, and providing them with appropriate support and intervention to address the underlying issues of abuse and alienation. #letthemlovestopparentalalienation #ParentalAlienationSyndrome #StopParentalAlienation #parentalalienationawareness

Michelle was recommended to me, by a coworker in my US military unit. He said that she represented him very well, in his divorce case. I am thankful that Michelle accepted my case. (By the way, she has a great staff, as well.) I was going through an unwanted divorce, after 30+ yrs of marriage. Michelle listened well, understood the situations, and coached me on options. I told Michelle that I did not want to be vengeful or hurtful toward my wife, and Michelle understood, and helped me navigate that path. The divorce was dragging on, and she helped create some forward momentum, to get the process going again. She negotiated some great wins for me, in the divorce process, helping greatly my financial future. Michelle is a "go-getter", with "bulldog tenacity". She is fast-paced and aggressive (in a good sense), and was honest with me, when I needed that kind of coaching. She is fair and sensitive, and is dedicated in working towards a favorable solution for her client. The mediation process was an interesting experience, but again, Michelle represented me well through that, as well! I'm a 30yr veteran of the military, and recognize people who are skilled, and do their jobs well. Michelle is one of those people! I highly recommend her!!!

Michelle was appointed to my divorce case and almost acted as a second attorney for my ex wife. Her bias was beyond obvious to all parties. Not only did she defend my ex wife’s marijuana use in court (a violation of the temporary order), she also discarded a failed alcohol test after her weekend with the kids and ignored every single concern I had about the kids well being, both mentally and physically. Michelle is a disgrace to her profession. If she is assigned your case, fight it as hard as you can. Your kids will thank you one day!

Have had 3 different immigration and one family case. She was nice and empathetic. Resolved our issues and every time I talked to her she made me feel relieved and took my worries away. I see these bad reviews here and I don't understand why people should get nasty after receiving services. I have a long history with her. She was never what these people say. Additionally, she charged me less than all other attorneys and worked with me when I could make payments. She is the absolute best in Oklahoma City. Will refer all my friends to her, no doubt.

Refuses to answer the phone or reply to messages unless they are relevant to her getting paid. Absolutely did not do anything I requested from my divorce, which was literally only reimbursement for fraudulent activity, while assuring me that she would make it happen, but when it came time to sign paperwork, absolutely neglected to inform me of the situation, so I now have literally tens of thousands of dollars of debt I did not accrue. Plenty of better lawyers around here, pick any of them for a better experience.

Useless. Expensive. & u have to chase & harass them depending on the state. They only got 1 lawyer in Indiana & hes overworked, probably same for every state. Trucking is to get in & out of. Im just about done but if i wasnt i wouldnt use dlp. I think its the system too. Used them a couple times for over ten yrs but recently experiences arent good. So pointless. Cop could be clearly wrong, you can send evidence & everything & then trial & worse consequences if they decide to screw u. Super rigged & catch 22 as per usual. Stay safe & out the way. If i was still trucking id try one more lawyer or two & if nothing id just plea guilty & play the game how it go. The system matrix america tripping. On power too. Jus say no

We are extremely dissatisfied with Driver’s Legal Plan service. I called twice yesterday to confirm the correct court date and was assured by two different customer service representatives that it was scheduled for 08/13/2024. However, we have since received an official email from the attorney’s office stating that the court date was actually transferred to 08/27/2024. We are extremely disappointed that Driver Legal Plan cannot provide accurate information. I called a third time today and was unable to reach a manager to discuss this matter. The support representative abruptly hung up on me, which is unacceptable. We have a large number of drivers and strive to assist them with citation-related issues. Driver’s Legal Plan inability to provide reliable information is creating significant challenges for us.

My husband and I have had an amazing experience with Ms. Didier. When we met her, we thought all hope was lost in regards to an extremely complex family case involving his daughter. She never settled for less than she knew was possible, she kept the child’s well-being at the forefront of her mind, she thought outside the box, and she never lost hope for an instant. The moment she learned the complexities of the case(daunting to others, but not her!), she became visibly excited and reassured us she would and could fight for our family. She worked tirelessly to ensure that no detail was overlooked, no concern went unaddressed, and no shortcuts were taken. I can never recommend Ms. Didier enough, she has been absolutely stellar and she climbed an impossible mountain to give us all our family back.

Find a different law firm these guys are crooks. Phil told me he would file paternity for me if I paid $712 up front which was two hours of his time and the filing fee on May 2nd and I had until July 1st to pay the rest of the retainer. Every time I called they kept telling me they were working on it and "it will get filed". Come May 17th I got served by my ex because they never filed. They also refused to send my reply to her paperwork so I just paid for a different lawyer who has help me tremendously already. Just find a different lawyer and save yourself time and money.

Worst experience with a law firm. Specifically with Mrs. Safi and her close team (assistant & one random guy on a 10min phone call) who took 5k, said it probably wouldn't be that much... did nothing to actually benefit nor help my situation, then ended up quitting on the whole case itself. Never even reimbursed me for anything, instead, herself and her "team" tried to charge me MORE. This was AFTER SHE QUIT THE CASES. Complete waste of time and money going here, if you want anything accomplished! (Not to mention she talked about her own personal life and compared it to her own client as to say she had it worse off. Not a competition for anything. You are a lawyer and supposed to remain professional, it's what you are PAID $300+AN HOUR to do!) Also, I'd advise not to go print out and pay for your own papers to give to them, they probably won't return anything after quitting on you! -From my own experience. Biggest mistake and regret this year was choosing this lawyer. Can't speak on the rest of the firm, but I can speak on what I know and witnessed for a fact.

Called to get some information. I took 3 days to finally get answers back. My situation was a little different and divorce was filed on Jan 10th. Looking through papers I realized I had 20 days to respond. Tried contacting her on the 19th to get something scheduled and finally heard back on the 23rd. Her office assistant tells me "Stefani says you shouldn't have waited until the last minute to contact her." Not really what you want to hear already going through a very stressful situation. Unprofessional and not someone I would want representing me after just a small taste of how the clients are treated.

Very nice guy until you hire him, Non responsive, unprepared for court, no strategy to win, just goes along for the ride, doesn’t read emails but charges for them , and then gets surprised when issue comes up in court. You would never know if he would show up for court, you would be reminding him without a response dozens of times then he would show last minute and walk around, very incompetent, doesn’t have any DHS contacts, you have to provide it to him, never advocate for the client with DHS, literally tells the other side he is just there for the money, hangs on to the judge summary so he can charge to send it to you later, then charges but doesn’t send it, corrects errors in opposing counsel’s work, and charges the client, petitions are misspelled and you can expect to pay $2800 for each document he files. Therefore who can afford to reply ? Has no staff so you pay $300/hr for admin work. Having him in your corner was 3 times more stressful than the court issue. Also, won’t answer questions saying he can’t give you legal advice on the case or other petitions even though he was paid. Something very quirky with this guy. Sadly the case could have been quashed on day 1 if he was competent as other party lied on the petition regarding title 30 criteria, etc. motivated by filthy lucre and will milk you dry and will not advance your case . Will obligate you financially going way over the retainer. Avoid and run away.

My boyfriend had been a client of Matt’s for some time. Never had any issues, he always had my boyfriend put cash in an envelope with his name on it in his drop box (which is shady but we could never get ahold of him to give it to someone directly so he advised us to do this instead.)My boyfriend had a balance of $600ish and dropped him off $1500 in March OVER paying him to take care of future matters. Now fast forward to this August, Mr. Eckstein is claiming he never received our March payment even though the day in question we let him know we were dropping money off. We had done this method NUMEROUS times before and never had any issues. On top of that, he did absolutely nothing to solve our case, and we settled it with the other party outside the help of Mr. Eckstein because we could NEVER get ahold of him. I’m not sure why he’s scamming his loyal customers but DO NOT do business here, he is a FRAUD!

What a Family Law Lawyer Can Do for You

A family law lawyer provides legal services related to family relationships, including marriage, divorce, child custody, and adoption. Family lawyers help clients navigate emotionally charged legal issues, providing guidance and representation in disputes that affect spouses, children, and parents. Whether you're going through a divorce, seeking custody of your children, or drafting a prenuptial agreement, a family law lawyer ensures your rights are protected and your interests are represented.

Family law attorneys often handle sensitive matters and offer objective legal advice, helping clients reach fair outcomes either through negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

When Should I Hire a Family Law Lawyer?

Hiring a family law lawyer is beneficial in several situations, especially when legal matters involve close personal relationships. Common reasons to hire a family law lawyer include:

  • Divorce or separation: When ending a marriage, a lawyer can help you navigate issues such as division of assets, spousal support, and child custody arrangements.
  • Child custody and visitation disputes: If you and your co-parent can't agree on custody or visitation, a lawyer can represent your interests and work toward a solution that benefits your children.
  • Child support: Whether you’re seeking child support or defending against a claim, a lawyer can help ensure the appropriate amount is calculated and enforced.
  • Prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: A lawyer can help draft or review agreements that protect your assets in case of divorce.
  • Adoption: Family law lawyers guide you through the legal process of adoption, ensuring that all requirements are met.
  • Domestic violence or restraining orders: If you're a victim of domestic violence or being falsely accused, a lawyer can help you obtain or challenge protective orders.
  • Paternity cases: If there are questions about the paternity of a child, a lawyer can help establish or dispute legal fatherhood.

Hiring a lawyer early can prevent issues from escalating, and they can offer you the best chance of achieving a favorable outcome in emotionally charged situations.

What Does a Family Law Lawyer Do?

A family law lawyer provides a wide range of services depending on your specific legal needs. Their responsibilities may include:

  • Advising on legal rights and options: Helping you understand your legal rights regarding divorce, child custody, support, and other family law issues.
  • Filing legal documents: Drafting and filing petitions, motions, and agreements with the court, such as divorce papers, custody agreements, or support orders.
  • Representing clients in court: Arguing your case in front of a judge if a settlement can’t be reached through negotiation or mediation.
  • Mediation and negotiation: Assisting with alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, to reach agreements on issues like custody, property division, and support without going to trial.
  • Enforcing court orders: Helping you enforce court orders related to child support, alimony, or custody if the other party fails to comply.
  • Drafting prenuptial or postnuptial agreements: Creating agreements that protect your assets in the event of a divorce.
  • Handling adoption proceedings: Ensuring that the legal process of adoption is followed, from filing paperwork to finalizing the adoption in court.

How Are Family Law Lawyers Paid?

Family law lawyers typically charge clients in one of several ways, depending on the complexity of the case and the lawyer’s experience. Common payment arrangements include:

  • Hourly rates: Most family lawyers charge by the hour, with rates varying based on experience and location. Clients are billed for the time spent working on their case, including consultations, court appearances, and document preparation.
  • Flat fees: For more straightforward legal services, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, some lawyers offer flat-fee arrangements.
  • Retainer fees: In cases that are expected to require significant time and attention, such as contentious custody battles, a lawyer may charge a retainer, which is an upfront payment that covers the initial costs of legal services. The lawyer then bills against the retainer as they work on your case.

The exact cost will depend on the complexity of your case and the lawyer’s fee structure, which should be discussed upfront.

How Much Does a Family Law Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a family law lawyer varies based on factors such as the lawyer's experience, the location, and the complexity of your case. Here are some general cost guidelines:

  • Hourly rates: Family law lawyers typically charge between $150 and $500 per hour, depending on their experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Flat fees: For simpler cases, such as drafting a prenuptial agreement or handling an uncontested divorce, fees may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Retainers: For more complex matters, such as contested divorces or custody battles, lawyers may charge a retainer ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 or more. The lawyer will bill against the retainer for the work they do on your case.
  • Additional costs: You may also be responsible for additional costs, such as filing fees, mediation fees, or expert witness fees.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of the lawyer’s fees and any additional expenses during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Family Law Lawyer

Before hiring a family law lawyer, it's important to ask questions to ensure they're the right fit for your case. Here are key questions to ask during your consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with family law cases like mine?
Make sure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it's a contested divorce, child custody dispute, or adoption.
  2. How will you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges by the hour, a flat fee, or requires a retainer. Ask for an estimate of the total costs involved.
  3. What are the possible outcomes of my case?
An experienced lawyer should be able to give you a general idea of what to expect based on the facts of your case.
  4. What is your approach to resolving disputes?
Ask whether the lawyer tends to favor negotiation and mediation or whether they prefer to take cases to court. This can help you determine if their style matches your goals.
  5. How long do you expect my case to take?
While it’s difficult to predict, the lawyer should give you an estimate based on similar cases.
  6. Who will be handling my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may do much of the work, so make sure you understand who will be your main point of contact.

How to Check the Credibility of a Family Law Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable family law lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and reputation:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is licensed to practice in your state and is in good standing with no disciplinary actions.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on websites like Avvo, Google, or Martindale-Hubbell. Previous clients can give you insight into the lawyer’s professionalism and success in family law cases.
  • Request references: Ask the lawyer for references from past clients who can speak to their experience with the lawyer.
  • Review their website or professional profile: Look at the lawyer’s background, case history, and areas of focus to ensure they have substantial experience in family law.
  • Look for professional memberships: Membership in reputable organizations, such as the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), can indicate a lawyer's expertise and dedication to family law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a family law lawyer, it’s important to come prepared. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Relevant documents: Bring any documents related to your case, such as marriage certificates, prenuptial agreements, financial records, custody agreements, or court orders.
  • List of assets and debts: For divorce cases, prepare a detailed list of all assets (e.g., homes, bank accounts, retirement funds) and debts (e.g., mortgages, loans, credit card balances).
  • Details of the family issue: Provide a written summary of the situation, including key dates and facts related to your divorce, custody dispute, or support issue.
  • Questions for the lawyer: Write down any questions you have about the legal process, costs, and potential outcomes.
  • Your goals: Be prepared to discuss your objectives, such as custody arrangements, property division, or spousal support, so the lawyer understands your priorities.

Being organized and clear about your situation will help the lawyer evaluate your case more effectively and offer the best advice for moving forward.
